Pipedreams calls the Icicles No. 31 a massager, and we suppose that you could use it as such, but let’s face it — this is a dildo, and it’s a really nice one. It can be used either vaginally or anally, but we do think that this design is optimized for anal use.
The Icicles No. 31 is made of hand-blown borosilicate glass. If you’re not familiar with borosilicate glass, it’s the original PYREX and it’s still used in laboratories. Borosilicate glass won’t shatter or scratch and can withstand abrupt temperature changes, which makes it a highly desirable material for many applications, including sex toys.
This dildo is a deep, striking cobalt blue. One end has a bulbous tip and a curve that’s engineered to target the G-spot or the P-spot, whichever is applicable. The other end has four spheres that act similarly to anal beads.
First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
Our first thought was that this doesn’t look like a budget-friendly toy! The box itself is thick matte cardboard, and the printing is glossy and embossed with elegant font choices. It could almost pass as a wedding invitation, except that there’s a big photo of a dildo on the front. One qualm is that while the product photo is artistically lit, the colors that are printed on the box do not really resemble the product inside the box.
The front of the box has a magnetic flap with a ribbon closure, and you can see the product through a cellophane window. When you open the box, you’ll be greeted by the deep blue Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo nestled in a carved bed of foam. It’s smooth, heavy, and richly hued.

How Do I Use the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31?
One of the most beautiful things about this toy, and that’s saying a lot, is its simplicity. There’s nothing to charge, download, sync, or pair. There are no buttons to fiddle with or adjustments that need to be made. You’ll want plenty of good-quality lube, of course, but then you’re good to go! It’s worth noting that because the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo is made of glass, it’s compatible with any kind of lube: water-based, oil-based, silicone, or hybrid.
If you’re looking at your toy and wondering which end is up, the good news is that you can use either side! The bulbed end has a curve that’s designed to hit the prostate in folks who came equipped with that, and the beaded end feels like anal beads (without the string).
Apply plenty of lube to your body and the toy, hold the tip at the entrance to your anus for a minute or two to let your body get used to it, and then ease it in slowly. My Personal Experience
The Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo sat unused on my desk for a few days; I was intrigued and interested, but also impressed because it was so pretty that I just wanted to look at it, which I can’t do if it’s in my butt. I’m glad that I took some time to admire its artistry, and I’m also really glad that I then used it as it was intended; it’s not just a pretty face!
Design
We’d say that the design of the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo is in-your-face, but it’s really meant to be in the other end. But it’s bold in a beautiful way.
The gleaming dark blue hue makes it look elegant and sophisticated, which is an odd thing to say about a dildo, but it’s true. The curve is very nicely done and the lines seem to flow together. The curved end of the toy has a tapered, bulbous tip to facilitate easy entry. The other end has four hand-blown balls. The balls are supposed to evoke anal beads, and we don’t really think that they do, but they’re still very stimulating; plus, they look great!
Material
This toy is hand-blown tinted borosilicate glass, which sounds like it should be really expensive. It looks and feels like it too! We’re surprised that it isn’t, but we’re not complaining.
The Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo is perfectly smooth with no seams or imperfections. It’s heavy in the hand, which translates to firmness and pressure when it’s used internally. At room temperature, it feels cool to the touch, but one of the most desirable properties of borosilicate glass is its ability to adapt to temperature changes, so it warms up very quickly.
Stimulations
Since this is an analog toy, you have quite a lot of control over the stimulations. You can thrust as fast or slow as you please, or you can just hold it still and revel in the fullness and pressure.
The two ends of the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo deliver distinctly different stimulations. The curved, bulbous end is architected to target either the prostate when used anally and the G-spot when used vaginally. The other end has four spheres that provide delicious stimulation when you move them in and out slowly, much like anal beads.
Build Quality
The Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo is one solid piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass. It doesn’t have any seams or imperfections. Glass is fragile by nature, but this is a heavy and sturdy piece of kit and it doesn’t feel delicate in the least.
Ease of Use
As we wrote earlier, there’s no app or remote that you need to sync up, and there are no buttons that you have to program in Morse code. It’s just a lovely, solid piece of glass that you can work any way that you want to.
We do warn that, unsurprisingly, glass can be slippery when it’s lubed up. Although it obscures the aesthetic (which, once you get going, doesn’t really matter because your eyes are not where you’re using the toy), we recommend creating a “grip” with a clean washcloth.
Versatility
Your imagination is the only limitation to the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo. You can use it anally or vaginally. You can use it solo or partnered. You can use either end. You can warm it up or chill it. Or you could even use it in your office as a paperweight and see if anyone recognizes it.
Warranty and Support
Pipedream offers a one-year warranty on the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo, but you do have to have registered your toy to file a claim, which you can do online. If you purchase your glass dildo from an authorized retailer, you will likely get additional protection and support through them.
Considering the quality of the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo and the lack of moving parts, we don’t anticipate needing warranty assistance (plus, it’s $25. It would cost more than that to mail it back and forth).
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
This glass anal dildo really didn’t have any issues, as in it didn’t have any defects or unexpected complications. There aren’t a lot of toys that we can say this about!
However, there are a few features that might make some folks decide against the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo. For one, while the curve is definitely part of its character, it can make it difficult to fit in a standard storage bag for travel or to soak clean.
On that note, you will want to be able to soak this toy to clean it. The sculpted beads and ridges can hold on to lube and other debris, and the dark blue color can hide it. Soaking in soapy water is safest, and one of the great things about glass is that you can soak it or even boil it.
Borosilicate glass is treated to be stronger than untreated glass, but glass is still glass and glass gets slippery, especially when it’s lubed up. Be careful not to drop it on a hard surface, like a tiled bathroom floor.

There’s a lot to love about this dildo that feels like a set of glass anal beads, but if it’s not quite what you’re looking for (too intense, too curved, too blue), we suggest:
Chrystalino Planets
It’s still glass and it’s still beaded, but the Chrystalino Planets is less curved and less intense than the Pipedreams Icicles No. 31 Glass Dildo. This is a pretty, creamy white with a softly curved and bubbled shaft. It kind of looks like a cloud, and we’re pretty sure that’s what they were going for. Because the bubbles are graduated in size, this one is a lot more beginner-friendly as it’s much easier to ease into the stimulation.
Gläs 4.5” Titus
As professional sex toy testers and reviewers, we are very aware that there’s a lot of overlap between categories. We’d be inclined to call the Gläs 4.5” Titus a butt plug as opposed to a dildo, but whatever you call it, it brings a lot to the table. One side is a classic tapered plug, and the other side has that beaded feel. It’s made from heavy clear glass, and would be a great introduction for anyone exploring the world of glass toys.
