How Do I Use the Lovense Lush 4?
Using the Lovense Lush 4 can be as simple or complicated as you like. Let’s start with the basics.
After you unbox the Lovense Lush 4, the first step is ensuring it is fully charged. The user manual suggested that it would take 50 minutes to charge fully after being completely drained. When I tested it, it took fifty-three minutes to charge and then lasted three hours and forty-five minutes on a full charge. Overall, that’s not a bad battery ratio. To charge it, plug the USB charging cable into a wall wart (which isn’t included) and then align the magnetic charging pins until the red light shines from the back of the smaller arm. When it’s done charging, the light will turn off.
The next step is washing your Lush 4 with warm water and antibacterial soap or a sex toy cleaner. Allow it to dry; then, find your favorite water-based lubricant and put plenty on the bulbous arm and some in your vulva. Slide the internal arm in until it feels comfortable. Now, you’ll need to decide if you’d prefer to use the toy manually or via the app.
To use the Lush 4 manually, press the power button and hold for three seconds to turn it on or off. Briefly tapping this button will cycle you through two intensity level increases and seven different vibration patterns.

Design
The design of the external arm has changed since the Lovense Lush 3. The new one has a silvery coating with a slit that lights up red while it charges and then turns off once it’s finished. It almost looks like a tiger’s eye, and it’s more angular and less rounded than the Lush 3’s tail, making me hope that it would vibrate, since I love pinpoint stimulation. The upgrade looks cool, but it adds a seam where the two materials meet, making it slightly more complicated to clean, and cleaning is the only portion of sex that I like to rush through.
The Lush 4 also has a thicker neck than the Lush 3, which makes it less flexible but perhaps more durable. On the one hand, you won’t have to worry as much about the neck breaking, but its thickness made it slightly less comfortable for me to wear. The thickness, unfortunately, doesn’t lend stay-in-place precision like I was hoping it would—it will still move a little bit, just like the Lush 3, and is not posable. It does not feel as stealthy and agile for public play, like a tiny secret slipped inside you. This one feels more like hardware, but that won’t matter much to anyone using the Lush 4 primarily for shorter periods and private play.
I was hoping that, in the latest iteration of this toy, there would be two motors. There’s only one motor—for the G-spot—and the tail, though it’s hovering right around your clit, lies dormant. The tiniest amount of vibration travels through the arm, but it is not enough for me to get off from clitoral stimulation, and I am as sensitive as they come. I was immediately impressed by the stimulations the Lovense Lush 4 provided. Even the lowest setting was strong enough to get me off. The vibrations ranged from pleasantly deep to brightly buzzy, but they didn’t travel through the arm to my clitoris much. However, I took the Lush 4 out and tried it as a clitoral vibrator, and that worked like a charm. Even on the lowest setting, I had several orgasms.

Build Quality and Dimensions

Lovense Lush 3

You can still buy the original for $69 on sale, but a lot has changed for the better since Lovense had the initial idea for a public-play egg vibrator. For instance, the Lush 3 had a battery life that lasted nearly four hours and would take 85 minutes to charge. The Lush 4 is quicker to charge and lasts nearly the same amount of time.
The tail on the Lush 4 has a silver plate with a slit that delivers a dazzling light show, so that aesthetic may sound appealing to some.
