Build Quality

The metal bar itself is not very sturdy. I do not think it could handle being stepped on with my full weight. Also, the locks are rather cheaply made and do not instill confidence. They can be sticky and difficult to turn the key inside of.
Lastly is the pin for adjusting the bar’s length (circled in the image above). The pin regularly falls out of the hole. This can be fixed by attaching a simple key ring to it. However, one of my pins broke while assembling the bar. I would have expected a little more quality for the price.
Design
The design of the Bondage Boutique Extreme Expandable Spreader Bar is very well thought out. The fact that it’s adjustable unlike many of its competitors allows for a more comfortable fit and a broader range of positions. My wife and I could both be bound in a variety of positions despite the difference in our body size. Using a pin system to adjust the length of the bar keeps things simple, just make sure you secure the pin somehow.
The rotating ankle cuffs allow for a broader range of manipulation and comfort (image above). Having adjustable rotating wrist cuffs as well would have been the icing on the cake, but alas, you can’t have it all.
Its all-black finish keeps it classy and minimalistic.
Materials
The Bondage Boutique Extreme Expandable Spreader Bar cuffs are made from leather and faux fur. The cuffs feel firm and would take a lot of action to wear them out. The leather can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth. The faux fur can be a bit trickier and requires a scrub a dub with detergent and water.
The spreader bar is made from metal. I feel that a denser, heavier metal could have been used without taking away from the user experience. But if that doesn’t excite you that much, you can also try using bondage ropes which can be a better fit for some.
Ease of use
Once you have solved the problem of the slipping pins, it was straightforward to use. As mentioned before a simple key ring can solve this problem. Adjusting the length of the bar is simple. Applying the cuffs to your partner is a breeze.
The most challenging part can be opening and closing the locks (image above) since they tend not to instantly open and close. Once you or your partner are locked away it is easy to continue using and you can even adjust the bar for them while they are still cuffed.
Versatility
Our spreader bar kept surprising us with its versatility. It really was a toy for both of us to enjoy. We were both able to wear it comfortably, or delightfully uncomfortably depending on the mood. It opened up a wide range of sexual positions we often neglect.

Minor issues I found during testing
As mentioned before, the pins are problematic without a key ring attached to them. We found the locks could be stubborn at times taking away the spontaneity of locking someone up. Equally frustrating was trying to open them at times. We were never unable to open the locks, but it would be nice if they were better quality making them more responsive.
