Tenga Flip Zero EV Review 2024: Is The Vibrating Tenga Any Good?

Tenga Flip Zero EV

The Tenga Flip Zero EV is a rechargeable, vibrating male masturbator from the popular Japanese company Tenga. Reviewers have said many good things about this masturbator, some even saying it’s the holy grail of male masturbators.

To see how well it lives up to the hype, I bought one from Lovehoney so I could put it through some very thorough testing. Follow along to see if I ended up liking it!

Key Takeaways
4 out of 5 stars

Is Tenga Flip Zero EV Good? Yes, without a doubt! The company has added many upgrades since Flip Hole and the stimulations are intense and reminded me of a real blowjob. It’s also easy to clean and use due to the nifty flap design. Plus, the ergonomic shape makes it easy to hold even with one hand. Highly recommended!

Who Can Skip It? It’s an expensive product ($249.99) keeping it out of reach for many men. Lovense Max 2 is a similar product you can buy for just $99. It also may not be a good fit if you’re too well-equipped. For those guys, Kiiro Keon will be a better option.

What is Tenga Flip Zero EV?

The Tenga Flip Zero EV is a male masturbator part of the expansive Tenga Flip series. It boasts electronic vibrations (EV), an easy-to-use design, and flips open to make lubing and cleaning easy.

The soft-textured elastomer sleeve has two motors located at different points to spread the vibrations evenly. The vibrating motors deliver five different vibration patterns (low, high, random, alternating, and pulse).

Besides the pulsation,  it has pressure pads to create a vacuum suction effect. It also has a handy charging dock that doubles as a drying rack.

First Impressions & Features

Packaging

Like the rest of the Tenga Flip series lineup, the Flip Zero EV comes in an unlabeled brown package to enhance your privacy. With the discreet packaging, not even your neighbor can tell what you’re up to. Beneath the unlabeled package is where the EV model differs slightly from the other models in the series.

Unlike the Flip Hole, this one comes in a solid, sturdy box. Depending on your chosen color, the box can be either white or black. The frontal side features have an image with the words “FLIP ZERO ELECTRONIC VIBRATION” engraved. Once you slide the top part off, you’ll find the item housed in a sturdy plastic case.

The packaging and what's in the box

Other finds include a 69-page instruction manual (very comprehensive!), two pouches of lube, and a USB cable. The plastic case stays intact when it’s not used to wade off dust.

The device doesn’t come with a storage/dust container, which was surprising. But I store my Flip Zero in the original box. Not ideal since it takes a bit of space, but it works ok.

Dimensions

Here are the dimensions of the Tenga Flip Zero EV:

  • Product Size in Inches: 2.76 Depth x 3.15 Width x 7.09 Height
  • Insertable Length: 6.73 Inches
  • Insertion Width: 2.62 Inches
  • Product Weight: 1.16 lbs.

Design

The design has improved since Flip Hole. It’s more compact, has rounded edges, and has a sleeker, more elegant look. It has hinges at the bottom, compared to Flip Hole, which has them at the top, fixing the earlier models’ annoying leakage issue. Overall, the simple low-key design gives the sex toy a high-tech look and masculine feel.

The body has ABS plastic, delivering a nice balance between durability and a comfortable grip. Besides plastic, the company used silicone for the suction controls, plus some metal lining the pressure pads. My unit is white, but you can also buy a black color with a different texture.

There’s also a charging dock and plastic cover to keep it dust-free in between use. At the top is a single button, allowing you to turn the vibration mode on and alternate between the five patterns with subsequent presses.

During my review, I found the plastic cover a bit challenging to remove. First, I tried shaking it out, but the device came crashing down on the table. Ouch! I don’t recommend this approach. Instead, grab the cradle with one hand and then pull the cover upwards. Tadaa!

You can also use the sliding clip and dock as a drying stand. I explain this in the cleaning chapter below. I liked this feature a lot, by the way!

The Sleeve

For the inner sleeve, the Tenga EV is made of TPE material. Besides resembling human skin, TPE is also hypoallergenic, phthalate-free, and durable in the long run. However, TPE is a porous material, making cleaning and maintenance more time-consuming. Similar to Fleshlight Flight Pilot and Lovense Max 2, the sleeve attracts a bit of hair.

One notable design change is the one-sleeve approach, compared to Flip Hole, with two individual sleeves held together at the hinge. The one-sleeve design is called “Integrated Pivot” and makes lube and cum leakage less likely, which is a significant issue with the older model.

The Texture

When I first opened up Flip Zero, I thought the interior looked like a machine or robot, straight from an Alien or Terminator movie. I can imagine this may be off-putting for some guys. Anyhow, it’s not an issue for me, and I got excited about testing it out!

The sleeve texture with the two vibrating cores

The texture has a series of ribs, ridges, and flaps that hug your penis warmly for optimum vibrations’ reverberation. It also has two vibrating cores, one in the middle and one at the top.

The Vibrating Cores

Tenga Flip Zero has two vibrating cores located at different sleeve points; one in the middle (Central Vibration Core) and the other closer to the tip (Deep Impact Engine). The motors deliver five different vibration modes, from slow, lengthy sessions to a quickie.

The five vibration settings are:

  • Low steady vibrations
  • High steady vibrations
  • Low High Pulse alternating
  • Swap (pulses and steady vibrations)
  • Random

How To Use Tenga Flip Zero EV?

Probably the easiest masturbator to use, the Flip Zero EV features a dedicated power button at the top. Pressing the button switches between five different vibration settings. Just press and hold the button until it turns on.

My Personal Experience

Ease Of Use

After charging up my EV (it takes about one and a half hours), I slid the side arms off, opened the flaps, and sprinkled enough lube for the session. I knew it would be lengthy, so I was generous with the lube. I also applied lube to my penis in readiness for the new experience.

Because of the flap design, you can use the device even if your dick is not 100% erect. Said and done, before I closed the flaps, I inserted my member, closed up, and got down to business!

I started using my hands to stroke up and down while regulating suction using the pads to get a feel of its body and weight. The body was not too wide, and it was easy to hold onto it. It’s also pretty light, and I had no issues holding it with one hand.

The pressure pads are a nifty idea and something I appreciated. Compared to a Fleshlight, they are easier to operate while using the male masturbator. You can press them at different points, and the pressure is applied to your penis in that specific area, making it extra tight. However, during my testing, I found that air sometimes escapes back into the device, especially in the outward motion. And I had to press the pads again. Not a biggie, just a minor annoyance.

Stimulations

Next, I pressed the power button and toggled through the settings. I must say, the sensation was pretty overwhelming when I reached the third setting. The twin motors gave me intense vibrations throughout my cock shaft. And I especially liked the top engine that gave me an excellent massage to my sensitive penis head glans.

The internal texture is lined with grooves and bumps that hold onto my penis, transferring the vibrations to the last nerve. Maybe, maybe, the EV could do with more settings, but the five presets make the experience wild and fun, especially for newbies.

All in all, it’s easy to get a hands-free orgasm. I can usually only go for 5-6 minutes before I climax, and I have to power off and rest a bit to extend my masturbation sessions.

Besides the stamina aspect, Tenga did a good job of making the feeling pretty realistic. The device’s vibrating and sucking effect resembles somewhat of a real blow job experience.

Cleaning & Storage

Cleaning the Flip Zero is easy because the flap design allows you to open it and expose the super-smooth texture. The device is 100% waterproof, making it easy to run warm water through the sleeve and wipe off semen, sweat, and accumulated dust.

Other reviewers claim the sleeve is difficult to clean. I don’t 100% agree with that. Yes, it has an elaborate texture, but it’s easy to get in everywhere when you run your fingers through it. I also didn’t see the drying issues other people experienced. I let it hang overnight, and it was dry in the morning.

It’s essential to carefully dry it with a paper towel or lint-free towel to remove all moisture. Otherwise, drying could take a long time.

Two ways to dry the Tenga Flip Zero using the charging stand

You can also use a sex toy cleaner or mild antibacterial soap to dislodge all the impurities from the nooks and crannies. Most importantly, remember to rinse the toy with more water after using the sex toy cleaner. Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe off visible dirt marks.

Only the Tenga toy itself is waterproof. The charging dock is not waterproof, and you should never submerge it in water.

After cleaning the device, I recommend hooking it onto the drying stand at an upright angle for better results. Please ensure the room is well aerated and allow ample time to air dry to avoid mold and bacteria buildup.

Tenga Vs. Fleshlight

Choosing between Tenga and Fleshlight can be tough, considering these are two massive male adult brands. However, a few differences in design, performance, and maintenance can help you decide.

Firstly, Fleshlights are more realistic, especially with the stars’ series that feature realistic vaginas and butt holes of porn stars. There are also many different products and textures to choose from.

Tenga vs Fleshlight

Tenga takes the day regarding ease of use, maintenance, and performance. The flap design makes it easy to enjoy, and the pressure pads regulate the intense suction, making the experience intense.

Other differences include the noise levels, with Tenga being considerably louder. Fleshlights are also relatively cheaper as compared to Tenga products. So, consider the variables and choose the best one that meets your needs!
