As a bonus, there were inclusive, cute stickers that came with this sucker that will shortly be emblazoned on my laptop. What a fun unboxing!

How Do I Use the ROMP Switch X?
After unboxing the ROMP Switch X, you should stop by the store to grab some water-based lubricant (and, for extra credit, a storage bag). You may also want to grab some extra batteries for when the included ones eventually die. There’s no charging this sucker since it uses batteries, so you can start masturbating immediately. My Personal Experience
This was my first encounter with a ROMP device, and I was impressed right off the bat. From the sex-positive marketing to the body-safe exterior to the seriously budget-friendly price tag ($35? Romp Switch X, are you flirting with me?), it’s clear that inclusivity is important to this brand. Ensuring that everyone who wants access to clitoral suction can have it is a smart move, and I had trouble finding fault with this toy.
Packaging
As an elder millennial, I tend to fall in love again and again with the new marketing of sex toys. I grew up with toys that had marketing on the box with messages like “your dirtiest little secret” and “nymphomaniac.” These didn’t resonate with me at any point in my life, and my humanity is reaffirmed when I see marketing like the Switch X has, which says, “when the mood strikes,” and on the compliance and safety information booklet, “pleasure to the people.” How refreshing to see masturbation treated as a healthy adult activity rather than some pathologized nonsense. The marketing on the packaging gets full marks.

The suction is on the lighter side, but for a budget sucker like this, that’s a great thing. This device will appeal mostly to people who haven’t tried clitoral suction before, so starting with gentle air pulses is ideal.
Sound Level
The ROMP Switch X was quieter than I expected, which is always a nice surprise. When I tested the sound levels, they ranged from 36 to 56. It’s even quieter when you get it suctioned around your clit, and it’s barely noticeable if you are in bed and put the comforter on top of you.
Build Quality and Dimensions
The build quality is astoundingly good for such an affordable clitoral suction stimulator. The Switch X couldn’t be easier to use. It has an intuitive two-button interface (image below) that you can figure out without first glancing at the instructions. Versatility
The main category where the Switch X loses points is versatility. It only does clitoral suction, but clitoral suction is enough to make many people with vulvas squirt. And with an under $50 price, you can’t expect a ton of versatility. I do wish that it were waterproof because when I was trying clitoral suction for the first time, that helped me get comfortable with the positioning. Using clit suckers underwater helped me mitigate the overwhelming sensations, and that won’t be an option with the ROMP Switch X.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

Sure, the stimulations are lighter, but that makes the Switch X a perfect introduction to suction stimulation, so I think that makes sense. There’s not much versatility, but all the features are in line with the price point.

Alternatives to the ROMP Switch X
Satisfyer Pro 2
The Satisfyer Pro 2 is another budget clit sucker. The design is clunky and significantly less aesthetically pleasing than the ROMP Switch X but the handle is longer, making it easier to masturbate with lube without getting the sucker too slippery. It’s waterproof, which makes a big difference but it is almost twice the price at $60.

Smaller than the ROMP Switch X, the Womanizer Starlet Snow has gentle suction, too. Holding the Starlet Snow while using lube is incredibly tricky, so keeping a rag nearby is crucial. There are only four settings, so if you like to start very light and ramp up a lot, getting the two extra settings the ROMP Switch X offers is worth it. The small size makes the Starlet a better travel buddy, and it also comes with a recharging cable, which I prefer to use. The Starlet Snow costs $80, so you will pay dearly for its brand name and rechargeability.

Inya Rose
Inya Rose is the prettiest budget clit sucker; that’s for sure. So, if you want something that you will be tempted to leave out on your nightstand, this is the best selection. It is adorable, waterproof, and only costs $40, comparable to the ROMP Switch X. It also comes with a recharging cable and a storage bag, which are luxury touches that the ROMP Switch X lacks, and it has ten settings. However, Inya Rose will be more difficult to clean, and the battery life isn’t amazing. Lastly, the Inya Rose is fairly loud and will not be a great choice for someone who needs a discreet device.
