10 Accessible Sex Toys For Disabled People [2024]

Featured image

Pleasure is a basic human need, but when it comes to catering to people with a disability or chronic illness, it may seem like the sex toy industry missed the mark. If you know where to look and what to look for, however, you’ll find several affordable and accessible sex toys for disabled people just waiting to be enjoyed in your sex lives, over and over again.

As someone who deals with painful intercourse and a flaming urethra (symptoms of endometriosis and interstitial cystitis) on a regular basis, I’ve spent quite a bit of time researching and trying out different sex support devices and lubes to see which ones are safe, effective, and work best for me and my needs.

To cut down your research time, I’ve compiled a list of the best sex aids for disabilities you can buy online. Although I have tried a few of the sex toys on this list, I haven’t had the chance to try all of them.

So, to be as accurate and helpful as possible, I reached out to experts and others living with a disability and/or chronic illness for quotes and recommendations.

Tips for Finding and Buying Accessible Sex Toys

Before you begin your shopping spree, you should know a few things before hitting the “checkout” button. Here’s a quick and easy guide for buying sex toys for people with disabilities online. (Every person is different, but these tips may make your shopping experience easier.)

  • Check the material. Material is essential, especially for people with a vulva. To ensure your new sex toy isn’t going to cause your vagina any problems, you should double-check the product description. Avoid buying anything made from a porous material, such as PVC, latex, jelly, or rubber. Why? Because they’re almost impossible to disinfect. Silicone, stainless steel, glass, and other “body-safe” materials are fine.
  • Make sure it’s easy to hold. If you have difficulty holding a traditional vibe or other handheld sex toys, read the product description to ensure that your new sex toy is easy to hold. Or, look for something that offers hands-free stimulation.
  • Know your hot spots. Don’t forget about what turns you on in your sexual life. Maybe you’re into suction, a good vibration, or both. While browsing, think about the sensations and stimulation combos that work for you and your specific needs.
  • Remember, it’s an investment. Everyone should be able to have life-changing orgasms whenever and however they want to (as long as they’re not breaking any laws and everyone involved is a consenting adult, of course). But, as the saying goes: “You get what you pay for.” If you’re hesitant to buy an accessible sex toy that’s a bit pricier, just remember it’s an investment. If you buy cheaper sex toys, you may be saving money now, but it’s most likely a lower-quality version of the item you want. It means you’ll probably end up replacing it and spending more money in the long run.

Starsi Vibrating Silicone Toy, $79

Starsi Vibrating Silicone Toy

Starsi is a star-shaped, five-speed, USB-rechargeable external vibrator. It’s made of silicone and curved in a way that makes it easy to hold. According to the Cute Little Fuckers website, the Starsi vibrator is one of the best accessible sex toys for trans femme users with genital dysphoria due to its “ability to cover the genitalia with its gently curved vulva-like feel.”

“As someone with limited mobility, you want sex toys you can just put in place and let it do the work for you, and/or a toy that really makes the most out of the motions you can do,” says Step Tranovic, creator of the gender-inclusive sex toy company Cute Little Fuckers. “Our Starsi toy is the crowd favorite in this department. Some people like to slip Starsi into their underwear, letting their panties do the work of holding the toy in place, while others like to place the toy face down on the bed or a pillow and sit on top of it.”

Princette Puppypus Vibrating Silicone Toy, $69

Princette Puppypus Vibrating Silicone Toy

Princette Puppypus kind of looks like an octopus and works great as a stand-alone vibrator or as a butt plug. Each “tentacle” and the “head” of this cute little creature vibrates; there are five speeds to choose from. The Princette Puppypus is waterproof, USB-rechargeable, and made of 100% silicone.

“My personal favorite in this department is our Princette toy,” Tranovic adds. “The taper in Princette’s body allows me to slide my fingers between the head and tentacles and hold the toy with such a loose grip I don’t have to squeeze anything; full function without needing any fine motor skills, which is important for my body. Princette also makes a great butt plug; pop it into place and let the different vibration settings take you to wherever you want to go, hands-free.”

Fin Finger Vibrator, $85

Fin Finger vibrator from Dame Products

Dame’s Fin finger vibrator is perfect for both solo and coupled sexual activities and comes with a detachable tether for a better grip. You can wear Fin in various ways—at the fingertips, near your palm,  or above or below your hand. It’s also water-resistant, USB-rechargeable, features three intensity levels, has a broad surface area, and comes in two calming colors (Jade or Navy).

“For patients with difficulty holding a vibrator, the Fin by Dame is perfect,” says Heather Jeffcoat, DPT, and author of Sex Without Pain: A Self-Treatment Guide to the Sex Life You Deserve. “A loop that goes around your fingers and grooves for your fingers to rest in makes this one of the most comfortable on the market.”

The best thing about this vibrator is that it “works the way you work.” So, there’s no right or wrong way to use it. If you find that it’s slipping around, however, Dame’s website recommends holding it mid-finger or closer to your palm. Adding a little lube is another great way to kick things up a notch. Just remember: You cannot use silicone-based lube with silicone sex toys.

Ohnut Intimate Wearable, $65

Ohnut Intimate Wearable

Unlike the other options I’ve listed above, the Ohnut isn’t exactly a sex toy. It’s an intimate wearable worn externally on the base of your partner’s shaft, on a dildo, or a strap-on. The Ohnut allows the user to control the penetration depth without sacrificing sensation. The Classic Ohnut four-pack comes with four interlocking Ohnuts and a pouch to store them in. (The set includes four rings, but you can choose how many rings you’d like to use at a time.)

Without sounding too dramatic, the Ohnut changed my life. Before I received my official endometriosis diagnosis, sex was pretty much off the table. I was in constant pain, and penetration of any kind would leave me lying in the fetal position in the shower. After my first laparoscopic surgery, I began researching and came across the Ohnut. I haven’t looked back since.

Each Ohnut has an FDA-approved, body-safe polymer blend that’s BPA-, phthalate-, silicone-, and latex-free. The four-pack is available in two colors: Jade or Aloe. If you need a wider set, Ohnut sells a Wider set that’s 15 percent wider and stretches up to 50 percent more than the Classic set.

A quick tip: Do not use the Ohnut without a silicone- or water-based lube! This wearable requires lube to work. You should never use your Ohnuts with oil-based lube.

Recommended for: Penetrative sex

Company: Ohnut

Material: FDA-approved, body-safe polymer blend

Dimensions: 2.75 inches tall (unstretched), 8 inches wide (stretched)

The Liberator Wedge/Ramp Combo, $265

Liberator Wedge Ramp Combo

As you’ve probably guessed from the title, The Liberator Wedge/Ramp Combo isn’t a toy; it’s like a pillow or a piece of “furniture.” The Wedge/Ramp combines Liberator’s Sex Wedge and its Sex Ramp. Its ergonomic design makes pulling off even the craziest sex positions possible sans the added pressure on your knees, back, or wrists.

The Liberator Wedge/Ramp Combo comes in three sizes, is made from high-density foam, and includes a removable, machine-washable cover. If you’re worried about moisture ruining your wedge/ramp, don’t! There’s a polyester taffeta moisture barrier to ensure that your wedge/ramp stays in tip-top shape, no matter how rough the romp.

It can fit a variety of sex toys and features two small pockets above and below the O-ring to fit two waterproof mini bullet vibrators (included) and three Ringo Grips.

“La Palma was designed with disability in mind, especially for individuals with limited grip, hand or wrist mobility, or those experiencing chronic pain when gripping,” says Smith. “A bit of dexterity and grip is needed to use La Palma, and you need to fit the glove over fingers and thumb for a secure hold. Once it’s in place, though, it gives you the chance to control you or your partner’s pleasure.”

Universal Wand Harness, $31.99

Universal Wand Harness

The Universal Wand Harness holds a wand massager or vibrator. The massager is secured into the harness, and the straps around a pillow (it should fit a pillow between 9 to 28.5 inches in width). This way, you can enjoy hands-free stimulation. You can wrap your legs around the pillow or straddle it — do whatever is most comfortable for you!

“I was browsing through products to add to my shop, and that’s when I found this little pillow buddy,” says Jayce Chester, founder of OverKink.com. “It reminded me of a time when a home health aide I know told me that she felt sympathy for her patient — an elderly woman who wanted to use her vibrator but couldn’t because she had difficulty holding it,” Chester adds. “Something like this wand harness could have accommodated her. Someone with fibromyalgia or Parkinson’s disease could also use it.”

Along with ADHD, I also have dystonia, which occasionally makes my hands absolutely useless — not having to hold something while trying to focus on sex was a game-changer.”
