An Exploration Of Cast Fetish And The Community

A woman with a leg castBreaking your leg is a real bummer for most folks. However, for those with a cast fetish, it can be an exciting inconvenience. In this article, I do a deep dive into topic and how you can safely explore it with your partner.

What Is A Cast Fetish?

A cast fetish involves a person experiencing sexual arousal from orthopedic casts. Folks with this fetish are often excited by the feeling of a cast on their body and seeing others wearing a cast.

Why Are Casts Sexy?

The vast majority are not aroused by the pain associated with getting hurt but are more into the aesthetic of the cast and its impact (impaired movement, leg propped up in the air, etc.). As a person with this fetish explains:

“We are not attracted to injury – the only thing in common is the reason for wearing the cast. I understand you consider us, by logical extension, attracted by real injuries. It’s simply not true. If we were attracted by eyeglasses (spectacles), it would have meant we were aroused by vision impairment. No, it’s the “eyeglasses” – the casts we are into.”

Many folks have a preference for a specific type of cast design. Some forums discuss the pros and cons of different materials (plastic and polymer), colors (white or colorful), and body part preferences (legs or arms).  @Ilovecasts on Reddit shared:

“For myself, it’s a texture/visual thing. I don’t care much for getting hurt. I love the way it feels to have a leg totally wrapped up and not be able to move it at all. For seeing others in casts, I don’t really enjoy the way a real injury would happen (i.e., a gross disfigured leg or something). But I do like the fantasized played-out situation when say, a pretty girl turns her ankle and ends up in a cast. It’s like I kinda wanna comfort her.”

Many folks with this fetish have associated fetishes like enjoying feet, which apparently look cute and helpless in a cast. Others may have a fetish towards the instruments often associated with casts, such as slings, crutches, wheelchairs, or more extensive injuries, such as amputations.

How Common Are Cast Fetishes?

The cast fetish community is vast. An active online community of sites shares photos of folks in a cast or pictures of casts they made and put on themselves. Folks also share stories describing their fantasies and supply guides for those casting themselves up.

Although several videos on Pornhub include casts, many people enjoy looking at vanilla videos on Youtube of folks wearing a cast in non-sexual scenarios. Kevin Casters is a well-known cast fetishist who has a podcast where he openly discusses his fetish.

As with all fetishes, several photos and videos are available for purchase online, including sexually explicit porn and pg media, with some SW having niche work exploring cast-related scenes.

Why Do People Have Cast Fetish?

For many, there may be an early childhood experience where folks pair sexual excitement with a cast. @Ilovecasts shared:

“It’s strange, but I’ve always had this obsession for casts since I was a little kid. I would see other kids at school wearing casts, and I’d wish I was them. At that point, it was just a fascination. It didn’t have any sexual connotations, but when the hormones kicked in, puberty is when it became a fetish.”

Another fellow on Reddit explains:

“The very first was when I was about 6, at summer camp, an older girl (maybe 13?) had a cast, and she was playing frisbee with her cast shoe with another girl. I remember really wanting to play, too (for reasons unknown). And watching the way she limped to pick up the shoe. Then in 6th grade, a girl had a cast, and everyone was making fun of her saying she just had it on for attention. She came in with it on a Friday, and then Monday kids were saying, “Wait wasn’t your cast on the other leg last week?” (implying it was fake) Obviously, this makes no sense. But it’s the first time I can remember the idea of wearing a cast “for fun,” and my own experimentation started soon after.”

Some are attracted to the immobility and helplessness that comes with wearing a cast. They may see a damsel (or dame) in distress and be excited about taking care of them. However, when folks want to take advantage of the less fortunate, it can become problematic.

Other cast fetishists may be excited by feeling helpless and having someone take care of them when they are unable to take care of themselves. It can play out with a BDSM twist, where the person with a cast explores a submissive role.

Fetishes are fascinating because they can develop from an experience we do not remember. They can also develop seemingly out of nowhere. For example:

  • It could be that a person’s hormones begin to spike the day they saw an attractive person in a cast.
  • It could also be that the attraction to a person was so strong it overflowed onto the cast they wore.

Unfortunately, many folks cannot pinpoint the exact origin of their fetish. Therefore, we must work on accepting our kinks without having a complete understanding of their origin.

How Can I Explore My Fetish?

A cast fetish can be fun to explore in real life! And the easiest and safest way would be through role play. You can either put on an arm cast or have your partner put on a plaster cast and explore existing in the world and/or have sex with a cast involved.

Tons of role play dynamics can include cast play, including doctor-patient or more BDSM dynamic with a slave master scene. You can explore novel ways of getting sexy with a cast on, leading you to discover exciting new positions.

Note: If you are going out into the world, I recommend visiting a new neighborhood. It can get confusing to try to explain to friends or family why you are wearing a cast when you are not hurt.

If this is your fetish, you may be particularly drawn to folks who have real injuries, like a broken leg. However, before approaching someone, it is essential to be upfront about the route of your attraction and be transparent about how the relationship may change once this person heals from their injury.

It would help if you also accepted that many folks who have an actual injury might not get your attraction to their cast. For them, broken bones represent pain. As a result, it is easiest to experiment through role-play and pornography.
