Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump

Most pussy pump suction devices are just that — they get you all pumped up for whatever comes next (hopefully you!). But the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump isn’t just an appetizer; it’s ready to serve up the whole meal.

You get four suction cups to use on your favorite body parts, plus a strong vibrator motor. Suction and vibration are controlled separately, and there’s a quick-release function if too much feels like too much. Keep reading to learn more about what this unique little machine promises and delivers.

Key Takeaways
4 out of 5 stars

The Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump is the best vaginal pump we tried. But please note that it’s an intense and somewhat complicated whirlwind. This isn’t for everyone, but if it sounds good to you, it probably will be. It’s a bad boy who knows just what to do to leave you swollen and pulsing.

Who Should Try It? If you already know that pussy pumps work for you, you should try this upgrade. Or, if you haven’t played with this kind of device before but are open to some experimentation, you should try the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump.

Who Can Skip It? If you’re looking for a quickie, the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump is probably not the best choice. And if you don’t have a lot of patience for fiddling with fitting a suction cup or operating multiple control buttons, you may find this device frustrating.

What Is the Bloom Intimate Body Pump?

The Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump is a multi-function device that offers suction and vibration. The suction is not the same as a clitoral suction toy (like a Rose toy); it is not necessarily stimulating in itself, but it increases blood flow to the vulva and clitoris, which intensifies sensation. The vibration lets you take advantage of that! The functions operate independently so you can mix and match as you choose.

You get four suction cups: two vulva cups (because vulvas come in all shapes and sizes), one nipple cup, and one clitoris cup. All of the cups have a soft silicone rim for a secure and comfortable seal. There are seven suction intensities and seven vibration patterns, plus a quick-release feature for comfort and safety. The motor recharges via USB cable.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

The Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump comes in a reasonably sturdy, glossy, printed cardboard box. There aren’t any body parts or “sexy” graphics on the box, but there is a product photo on the front, so it’s not exactly discreet if you know what you’re looking at. However, there’s a reasonable chance that it could pass for some sort of skincare or cosmetic contraption at first glance.

The packaging

The box and interior packaging hold everything securely. Everything that was supposed to be included is, plus a decent user manual and a black satin storage bag. The handle is satisfyingly heavy, the suction cups feel smooth, and the silicone rings are soft. This is a well-made device, but with a triple-digit price tag, it should be.

Quick Specs

  • Total length (handle + largest cup): 9” (22.9 cm)
  • Inner diameters: Vulva Plus 3.5”, Vulva 3”, Nipple 1.75”, Clitoris 0.5”
  • Functions: Seven vibration patterns, seven suction settings
  • Power: USB rechargeable (Two hours charge = 60 to 90 minutes use)
  • Material: ABS + silicone
  • Extras: Air release button, travel lock, storage pouch
  • Water resistance: Splash-proof, not submersible

How to Use the Bloom Intimate Body Pump

  1. First, decide which body part gets the royal treatment and choose the appropriate cup for the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump (we’re going to write this for the vulva, but we know that our readers are smart enough to make the appropriate substitutions).
  2. Apply a small but even amount of good-quality water-based lube to the silicone seal. We really do mean a small amount, because too much lube can make it difficult for the cup to stay in place and get a good seal.
  3. Then the rest is up to you! The vibration and suction functions are controlled by separate buttons on the base of the handle, so you can use them together or use either one independently.
  4. We recommend starting off with suction to increase sensitivity and then adding in vibration for some va-va-va-voom, but you’ll have fun figuring out the perfect formula for you.

My Personal Experience

We started out with the clitoral suction cup. Even with the vibration function, it wasn’t like a typical clit sucker toy (like the Rose toy or a Womanizer). Different isn’t worse, though! There was a lot less immediate “pow” and a lot more buildup.

The content of the box

For the next round with the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump, we moved on to the vulva cup. Unsurprisingly, the report is similar. I felt like it went from a relatively slow simmer to a rolling boil, but boil it did for sure.

Lastly, the nipple cup. I’m not usually a fan of nipple toys, and full disclosure: I did not orgasm with the nipple cup like I did with the other two. But I did like it more than I thought I would, and it absolutely heightened sensitivity.

Ease of Use

The Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump has a lot of moving parts, which is a lot of what makes it work as well as it does, but that also makes it not exactly easy to use.

Depending on your own personal body, you may have to rearrange the cup a few different ways to get a good seal (suction won’t work if it doesn’t seal). We don’t blame the pump for this, since there’s no way to create a cup or two or even four that fits all bodies perfectly on the first attempt, but it is what it is.

There are a total of 49 different suction and vibration patterns; you’ll love some and you’ll hate some, but it will take you a few tries to figure out which is which. The buttons are not as responsive as they could be, and it gets tiring having to press and hold each time you want to switch up.

Design

This is overall a well-designed device, as should be expected when the price tag has three digits on it. The Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump looks kind of like it belongs in a med spa. The white handle is sleek and elegant, and the silicone cups are curvy. We especially appreciated that the colorful silicone rims are removable for easy, thorough cleaning.

How It Feels

The Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump isn’t for quickies. The sensations range from slow and warm to hot and throbbing, and you can believe us that the destination is worth the journey, but if you’re looking for immediate gratification, you should maybe pick something else from the sex toy chest and come back to this when you’re ready to invest.

Versatility

There are four suction heads, seven suction intensities, and seven vibration patterns. This gives you a lot of choices and a lot of body parts to play with! We think that this works better as a solo toy because of its fussiness, but partnered play is definitely an option. You can do a lot with the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump, and you’ll have a great time working through all the possibilities.

Warranty and Support

Doc Johnson offers a limited 90-day return policy (store credit only) and a limited one-year warranty on motorized toys. This feels reasonable to us, and we don’t anticipate performance issues with the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump.

If you purchase from an authorized retailer or with certain credit cards, you may be eligible for additional protections through those channels.

Minor Issues I Found While Testing

We will start out by saying that the issues we found were preferences, not defects. This device is well-made and high-quality (but not necessarily more so than we expect at this price point). However, there are a lot of moving parts and a few quirks.

The button controls are not super sensitive. We were mildly annoyed at having to press and hold the suction and vibration buttons, and more than mildly annoyed that the quick-release button wasn’t actually as quick as we had hoped it would be.

It takes some fussing to get the cups to sit and seal properly. We’re not sure how to improve this functionality because vulvas are not one (or two)-sizes-fit-all, but we’ll still consider this a “minor issue I found during testing.”

Alternatives to the Bloom Intimate Body Pump

Maybe you’ve read through this whole review and are intrigued by what a pussy pump can offer, but not sure that the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump is the right one for you. May we suggest:

Doc Johnson Pussy Pump

The Pussy Pump is Doc Johnson’s basic, entry-level version. It’s manual, it doesn’t vibrate, and the suction cup is one-size-fits-all. However, it does exactly what it sets out to do: increase blood flow and sensitivity to your vulva/clitoris. If simple and straightforward is what you’re looking for, this is it.

Fantasy for Her’s Her Ultimate Pleasure

Like the Doc Johnson Bloom Intimate Body Pump, the Her Ultimate Pleasure pump offers both suction and vibration but it adds the option of a flickering silicone tongue. It’s another option for those who want a multi-purpose pump, and if you appreciate a sci-fi-ish aesthetic, it’s a good one to choose.
