Luxe Beaver Box Review 2024: A Luxury Box for Your Animal Instincts

Luxe beaver BoxBeaver Box is a woman-founded brand and a relative newbie to the scene of curated adult-themed gifts. Beaver Box began selling luxury sex-enhancing gift boxes during the pandemic to help couples struggling in the bedroom. Each box aims to tantalize the five senses: taste, touch, smell, sound, and sight, a unique twist on traditional sexy gift boxes. I was excited to see what the sensation-oriented gift box had in store when I began writing this article.

A Luxury Box for Your Animal Instincts

From the start, I was looking forward to receiving the Luxe Beaver Box. I anticipated it feeling like Christmas for my vagina, and I was right. The main thing I wanted to determine was whether the products worked well together, were body-safe, and were cheaper to buy together than separately to make a cohesive and thoughtful gift.

Packaging

It’s fun to open a sex gift box. And this one was packaged in a deluxe, giftable way. The inside teems with crinkly paper confetti, and the outside looks modern.

As you can see in the unboxing video, the paintbrush for the High on Love Body Paint was difficult to find—so difficult that I looked four separate times before I found it. It might be a good idea to have it affixed to the lid, so the tiny thing doesn’t get lost in all that confetti.

Material

All the products chosen are high-quality and body-safe, which is essential. The water-based lube works well with toys and condoms, and since they included both a toy and some condoms, this was an important consideration. The only thing you would want to keep in mind is not to use the massage candle oil as a lubricant, as oil-based lubes can damage condoms.

Value

I tallied everything up to see what kind of a deal you’re getting with this Luxe Beaver Box.

  • Buying a 2 oz Maude massage candle separately costs $15.
  • The High on Love Dark Chocolate Body Paint is $35.
  • The Lelo Tiani 2 costs $149.
  • A three-pack of Lelo Hex Condoms costs $9.90.
  • And the 2.5 oz bottle of Lelo Personal Moisturizer will set you back $14.90.

So, if you bought the items separately, you would pay $223.80—and that’s before shipping or other fees. Since the Beaver Box costs $165, I think it’s an excellent value, and it saves you almost $60.

My Personal Experience

I haven’t ever gotten a sexy gift box before, so I was extra excited to open this one. The Beaver Box had a lot of firsts for me, too. For example, until last week, I was a body paint virgin, but the Beaver Box put an end to that.

Let’s discuss each item one at a time.

The Maude Burn #1 Massage Candle was the first thing I tried. This candle ticks all my boxes for what I wanted, material-wise. No phthalates, lead-free wick, cruelty-free, glycerin-free, and it smells good. The candle’s scent was kind of woody and citrusy, but overall, it wasn’t menacing, which was a plus for me and anyone else sensitive to strong scents. Even better, this candle’s wax didn’t solidify and stayed slippery during the massage.

Since it is a low-temperature candle, I was a little surprised by how hot the wax was. Pro tip: the temperature varies a lot depending on how high you drip the wax. If you or your partner has sensitive skin, drip it from two feet above their skin to give it a few seconds in the air to cool—it makes a huge difference.

Massage candles use specific types of wax to ensure they burn at a low temperature, so make sure you don’t DIY this at home with a regular candle.

High on Love Chocolate Body Paint and Brush was fun, too. I admit, at first, I had no idea what I could paint that would be sexy. I’m not that artistically inclined. But once I got over my self-consciousness, it was fun. My suggestion is to paint for your partner’s sensation rather than trying to create a Bob Ross type of scene on their body.

Keep in mind that the paint is brown, so you’re probably going to want to steer clear from painting someone’s bum, lest it appears that they didn’t wipe very well. Not sexy!

The paint is a little hard to shake out, and to me, it tastes like Hershey’s, which I like. Admittedly, I’m a low-brow chocolate person. There is hemp oil in the body paint, but I didn’t notice any effects.

Lelo Personal Moisturizer is something I’ve used for a while. It’s a water-based lube, which is mandatory since I’m often trying new sex toys and they are typically silicone. Lelo Personal Moisturizer stays slippery for the long haul, which not many water-based lubes can claim. If it starts to get sticky for you, grab a water bottle and give your parts a spritz. That will make the lube slippery again.

The condoms were the low point of the Beaver Box, in my opinion. These condoms (once repped by Charlie Sheen) are re-engineered not to shatter if they tear. This condom design has the unfortunate side effect of the users not being alerted when the condom rips, which is risky and nearly defeats the purpose. I would steer clear of these condoms and use whichever brand you usually do.

Lastly, the Lelo Tiani 2 is a wearable vibrator meant for use during intercourse. You operate the Lelo Tiani 2 with the remote-control disk that comes with it. It’s rechargeable, though the remote control takes two triple-A batteries. It’s made of body-safe silicone, and the remote control means it’s reasonably easy to operate. You can read my Lelo Tiani 2 review here.

Wearable vibrators can be a bit of a gamble because everyone is shaped differently, and it’s often hard for the arm to reach the clitoris comfortably. However, this vibrator is one of the stronger couples’ vibrators I’ve tried, which means the sensations can stretch further regardless of placement. Plus, Lelo thoughtfully included two sizes of internal arms so that you have a better chance of finding a comfortable fit.

Review Summary

Body-Safety4.7 out of 5 stars
Packaging4.8 out of 5 stars
Inclusivity4 out of 5 stars
Value4.6 out of 5 stars
Overall Rating4.5 out of 5 stars

Overall, I loved this box. But I wish the Luxe Beaver Box had an option for couples who don’t use condoms to use a different type of barrier. And, I think another brand of condoms would have been a better choice. As is, it’s slightly hetero-centric. Each item (except for the condoms) was of premium quality, and nothing that was included will collect dust on your nightstand.

Pros

  • Excellent value
  • Body-safe products
  • Giftable packaging
  • Thoughtfully curated

Cons

  • The Lelo Hex Condoms’ design is dicey
  • No options for couples that don’t use condoms as barriers
  • Pricey

Who Can Skip It

If you are single or not in a heterosexual relationship, this gift box may not be the best option.

How It Stacks Up Against Other Beaver Gift Boxes

Beaver Box is an overarching company that makes several other curated gift boxes at various price points.

Girls Night Out Box

The Girls Night Out Box is geared toward bachelorette parties and other nights out with your friends. And yet, some essentials won’t come in handy unless you pair up with someone with a penis at the end of the night, like two ultra-thin condoms and lubricant.

In addition, the box has a muff mask (skincare for your vagina), self-tanner, lip gloss, a lipstick vibrator, and a crotchless lace bodysuit. Aside from the occasional lip gloss, these are not things I’ve needed on my girls’ nights out, but you may be in a different situation. Plus, it’s only $115.

Date Night Box

The Date Night Box is another sexually oriented gift box. It includes a rose-scented massage candle, lip gloss for couples, a cock ring, a crotchless lace bodysuit, and stimulating sensual oil. Notably, the crotchless bodysuit only comes in two sizes: regular and plus size.

This box was so close to being LGBTQ-friendly, and yet it is not. If it had the option to select a bullet vibe instead of a cock ring, it would appeal to more couples. The Date Night Box costs $135, less than the Beaver Box.

Fantasy Box

The Fantasy Box is a build-your-own box setup. You can choose any of the products from the site, and they will build you a custom gift box. Some of the products listed are cheaper than buying from the manufacturer, which could be a great way to save money. The total price varies depending on what you end up selecting.
