You have almost certainly heard of the original Hitachi Magic Wand. It’s been around since the 1960s, and your mom probably has an original Hitachi Magic Wand. She probably says it’s a body massager for sore muscles (don’t believe her). I recently got a hold of the rechargeable version of this classic sex toy and couldn’t wait to see how it compared to the OG version. Read along to find out!
I can sum my review up in one word: magical. If you’ve never tried a wand vibrator and have a vagina, you should give it a shot. Its sheer intensity will rip orgasms out of you one after the other—or, at least, that’s what it did for me. The rumbly power means that if you’re sensitive like me, you may not even need to have this thing on your clit. You can put it on your thigh, and the rumbly vibrations will travel. Overall, it’s an intense experience, and I can’t say enough good things about it.
Who Should Try It? If you have never been able to orgasm, this may be the toy for the job. It’s worth the investment if you’re ready for the ultimate vibration experience, thanks to the power, cordless capability, and rechargeability.
Who Can Skip It? If you need internal stimulation to get off, this is not the vibrator for you. For those people, I recommend Lelo Soraya Wave instead. This device also gives you very broad stimulations, so I recommend a toy like LELO DOT if you need pinpoint precision.

The Rechargeable: It Will Cast a Spell on You
If you haven’t used a wand before, you may not yet know what makes them magic, so let’s discuss why they are some of the most popular and beloved toys.
They’re perfect for the power-hungry, deliver rumbly vibrations effortlessly, and put smaller, quieter vibrators to shame due to how quickly they can drop-kick you toward an orgasm.
The Magic Wand Rechargeable is an improved version of the Original version, and I was ready to try out every upgrade it offered.
Design and Features
Features at a glance:
- Material: Silicone
- Size: 12.5 inches long with a 7.75-inch circumference
- Color: Off-white and blue
- Mechanism: Powerful clitoral vibrations
- Weight: 1 lb 5 oz
Packaging
The packaging is exactly what you need. It’s not incredibly giftable, but it has a charging cord and user manual. The only thing I wish it included was a storage bag!
Weighing in at sixteen pages long, the included user manual is plenty thorough. When reading it, you might be confused about whether you bought a weapon rather than a vibrating wand since the first six pages are entitled “warning,” “danger,” and “caution.”
This toy plugs into the wall, so there are plenty of warnings about electrocution, but here are some of my other favorites:
- Do not use it in the rain (Sorry, Sam I am)
- Close supervision is necessary when this product is used near children (Yikes!)
- Never throw in fire (Good advice for any sex toy)
- Never drop this product (That’s a tall order)
- Do not sit or lie on this product (It’s not a chair, so it’s a bad idea)
- Do not touch the silicone vibrating head with sharp objects (Stabbing, the all-too-common masturbation faux pas)
- Use for no more than 20 minutes at a time. Do not massage one area for more than 3 minutes. (Really?)
- Do not use it for an hour before or after eating (I guess this is the safety advice where masturbating and swimming overlap)
The main takeaways are that you shouldn’t let this thing overheat, drag it around by its cord, or touch your eye if the battery leaks since the fluid causes blindness. You aren’t supposed to use it for long periods, but you won’t need to with powerful vibrations like these.
Material
The head is silicone, and the rest is made from ABS plastic and metal.
Dimensions
This toy is large, so it’s perhaps not the ideal travel toy. It’s over a foot long, so you’ll need to make some significant space in your suitcase if you plan on bringing it abroad.
Design
This toy’s design is one of its very few weak spots. I’m not sure if the overall look has changed much since its inception, and it shows. It looks like something you’d find at a dentist’s office.
But that’s okay; what’s on the inside counts; in this case, what’s on the inside is a boatload of power.
Battery Life and Charging
The user manual says it will last 180 minutes, an incredible length of time considering how powerful this thing is.
However, this vibrator was tricky to test since it shuts off automatically every 20-30 minutes. When I tested it, it lasted just over three hours, and then it took three hours to charge.
When you charge it, the indicator will light up red and change to green once finished. In addition, when the battery runs low, the light will flash red to indicate it needs recharging.
Another cool thing about this wand massager is it’s cordless, so you can use it while it’s not plugged into the wall, meaning you can self-pleasure in different places. You can even use this vibrator while it charges, so you won’t have to wait too terribly long if it gets tired out mid-masturbation session.
Pro Tip: The manual says not to leave the Rechargeable plugged in once it has finished charging, as this can reduce the battery life. When you see the green light, unplug it!
Controls
This toy couldn’t be simpler to use. All in all, it has three buttons that operate its functions:
- The top button turns it on and off (Power Button).
- The middle button cycles you through the four speed levels.
- And the lower button takes you through the four patterns.
When you are using the different speeds, the section just below the button lights up blue, with either one, two, three, or four lines illuminated so you can see which setting you are currently using.
When you cycle through the patterns, the lower section lights up with one, two, three, or four green lights so you can tell which setting is your favorite. This feature makes it easy to remember and return to your favorite modes.
Lastly, the Magic Wand Rechargeable will automatically turn off after twenty minutes of use. It’s essential information, especially if you tend to orgasm after precisely twenty minutes of masturbation.
Warranty and Support
This wand massager has a one-year warranty. If you purchased vibrators from Vibratex that have defects in materials or workmanship, they will offer you a refund or replacement within one year.
How To Use Magic Wand Rechargeable?
- After you wipe the vibrator clean, you’ll need to charge it.
- Once charged, it functions as a cordless device, so you won’t need to find an outlet nearby.
- Then, use the three-button control panel to play with the settings until you find the perfect speed to reach orgasm.

My Personal Experience
Stimulations
I don’t want to spoil the rest of the review, but I can sum up my experience with this device in one word: magical.
I’ve never met a wand I didn’t like, and this one was every bit as extraordinary as the others. You should give them a shot if you’ve never tried a toy like this before and have a vulva. Their sheer intensity will rip orgasms out of you one after the other—or, at least, that’s what it does for me.
It makes it nearly impossible not to reach orgasm for most women—even at a lower speed.
The rumbly power means that if you’re sensitive like me, you may not even need to have this thing on your clit. You can put it on your thigh, and the rumbly vibrations will travel. You don’t necessarily need to be in the mood because the magic will change your mood.
Overall, it’s an intense experience, and I can’t say enough good things about it.
Ease Of Use
Though the instructions may overstate it a bit, you won’t want to use this for too long. For one, it’s overwhelming and might make you sore, numb, or itchy. So, while using the steady vibration, don’t keep it at the same power for very long, even if you’re using the first speed.
Pro Tip: Try different speeds by using the pattern settings on the control panel to vary things a bit. You can use the lower settings if you find yourself overstimulated.
In addition, the wand has a function that automatically shuts off after twenty minutes of use, which will either help remind you how long you’ve been at it or be devastating, depending on where you were in the process.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The downfall of many wands is they are hard to clean since they aren’t waterproof—and many are made from materials that aren’t necessarily body-safe and can harbor bacteria. But the cordless Hitachi Magic Wand is body-safe and made from nonporous materials, so you don’t need to worry about recurring yeast infections.
Price & Value
Even though the price is steep compared to some other toys, I think it’s relatively cost-effective since this might be the only device you want to use behind closed doors.
Minor issues I found during testing
The one drawback to vibrators like this is that they don’t have any options for people who need pinpoint stimulation to get off. If you love broad stimulation, you’re in luck. However, if you need something more precise, it might take longer to get off despite how powerful Magic massager wands are.
Pro Tip: If you want pin-point stimulations, you can buy one of the many available Magic Wand accessories.

Overall Rating |
Many women have failed to achieve orgasm with other vibrators but can have one with personal massagers, even when using the lowest speed. The sheer power leads to a quick orgasm.
So, if you’ve used bullet vibes in the past and they didn’t do the trick—even excellent ones like the We-Vibe Tango—don’t be discouraged. This toy will likely be able to help you out because you will be hard-pressed to find stronger vibrations anywhere.
Pros
- Flexible and body-safe silicone head
- Powerful vibration strength and unparalleled clitoral stimulation
- Four speeds and four vibration patterns
- You can use it while charging
- Extra-long handle
- Very little vibration transfers to hands, considering how powerful it is
Cons
- An expensive piece of equipment at $149.99
- Not waterproof
- It looks a bit old-fashioned
Is The Magic Wand Rechargeable Worth It?
This device is worth the investment if you’re ready for the ultimate vibration experience, thanks to its power, cordless capability, and rechargeability. If you have never been able to achieve orgasm, this may be the best toy for the job.
Who Can Skip This Sex Toy
If you need internal stimulation or pinpoint precision to get off, this is not the vibrator for you.
How It Stacks Up Against Other Magic Wand Toys
Magic Wand Rechargeable vs. Original
The Magic Wand Original was the first iteration of these vibrating sex toys, and it is reasonably different from the Magic Wand Rechargeable.
For one, as you might have already guessed, you cannot recharge the original Magic Wand. That means you plug it into the wall, and then you have to masturbate right next to that wall. It’s doable, but it’s not incredibly versatile.
Also, the Original Magic Wand had a porous vinyl head, a porous material, so it’s best to skip this unless you like yeast infections. Finally, the old Hitachi has just two speeds. However, on the plus side, it’s somewhat affordable at $89.99.
Magic Wand Rechargeable vs. Plus
The Magic Wand Plus has several upgrades from the Original, yet it’s still not as upgraded as the cordless Hitachi wand. It has four speeds and a body-safe silicone head. However, this one still requires a plug-in, so you’ll be affixed to the wall. You can grab a Plus for $119.99.
The company also sells a smaller version called Magic Wand Mini.

Mantric Rechargeable Wand Vibrator
The Mantric Rechargeable wand vibrator is something you can recharge, and the head is body-safe, just like the Magic Wand Rechargeable. They’re both powerful and cordless, but the Mantric has fiddly buttons that aren’t as easy to operate. You can buy a Mantric for just $79.99.
Doxy Extra Powerful Massage Wand Vibrator
Even before my days as a sex toy reviewer, I owned a Doxy for two simple reasons: they’re pretty and powerful. The Doxy vibrator has a body-safe head made of silicone, but it is a corded toy, so you will have limited locations where you can masturbate.
Doxy wins in the design department and has a bigger range of intensities to choose from (making it more suitable for people who want the option for lighter vibes), and the Doxy costs $139.99.
