We-Vibe Wand 2We-Vibe is bringing wands into the future, and the latest revamp of their vibe is more modern than ever. This isn’t your grandma’s wand vibrator: it’s cordless, has app control capability, a magnetic charging cable, and power to spare. How does it stack up against the many other products on the market? Join me to find out in my We-Vibe Wand 2 review!

Key Takeaways
4.5 out of 5 stars

If you need an upgrade to your plug-in wand, you can’t do better than the We-Vibe Wand 2. It’s cordless, waterproof, app-compatible, and will rumble you into the next zip code.

The We-Vibe Wand 2 is so powerful that it might get the person next to you off—that’s how crazy its rumble is! Okay, while that’s an exaggeration, if you want power, you will be thrilled with the motor on this thing. It has enough to rip orgasm after orgasm out of you.

Who Should Try It? Anyone in a long-distance relationship who prefers the mighty rumble of a wand to any other sex toy will be delighted with the updated, upgraded functionality of this redesigned model. People who have an old-fashioned wand vibe but want something easier to clean, waterproof, and just as powerful will love this device.

Who Can Skip It? If you have weaker grip strength, choose a smaller wand like the Magic Wand Micro. If you can’t get off without pinpoint stimulation, pick something with a better shape, like the Dame Pom.

What Is the We-Vibe Wand 2?

The We-Vibe Wand 2 is the upgraded version of their original wand. Now smaller and lighter but without the inclusive attachments, this upgrade has rumble and versatility to spare. You can create your own rhythms, choose between ten default rhythms and ten intensity levels, and masturbate for hours, thanks to the long battery life.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

We-Vibe’s packaging is consistently good. The Wand 2 arrived in a non-descript cardboard box, and a giftable purple box (image below) was inside of that. I was a bit disappointed it did not come with a storage bag or a sample of lubricant, especially at this price point.

The packaging

Features

The We-Vibe Wand 2 has upgraded features, including:

  • Smart Silence function, which allows the vibe to turn off when not in direct contact with your skin for unparalleled discretion
  • We-Vibe app for remote control
  • Waterproof, body-safe materials
  • Ergonomic handle, flexible head

Specifications

We-Vibe Wand 2 specifications at a glance:

  • Material: Body-safe silicone
  • Size: 2.2” x 10.7”
  • Color: Purple
  • Mechanism: Clitoral vibration
  • Weight: 14.75 oz

How Do I Use the We-Vibe Wand 2?

First, you unbox the We-Vibe Wand 2, and then you charge it. The website estimated it would take up to 150 minutes to charge and then last up to 120 minutes. When I tested the battery life, it took 150 minutes, as predicted, to charge and then lasted four hours and twenty-three minutes on the first setting, well over the suggested use time. The charging mechanism is a magnetic USB charging cable, which is typically easy to use. Plug the cord into a wall wart, then align the magnetic charging pins with the charging cable’s matching pins. If you get it placed correctly, the LED light under the buttons will begin to flash, indicating the Wand 2 is charging. The magnet is strong, but it can become dislodged if you set the vibe in a precarious position.

Once fully charged, wash it with warm water and antibacterial soap or toy cleaner if you have it on hand. Dry it with a lint-proof towel or let it air dry if you have some time on your hands. Lint-proof is the key word because this sex toy attracts lint as well as anything I own. Grab some water-based lubricant, lube up your clit, and you’re ready to begin.

The user manual

There are two ways to interface with this vibrator: the five-button control panel on the toy or by using the We-Vibe app. The easiest way to begin is by playing around with the buttons. The buttons are located along the thinner end, which is the handle.

The plus button turns the Wand 2 on and increases the intensity when you press it subsequently. The minus button lowers the intensity or will turn the device off if you hold it down. The arrows cycle you through the nine vibration patterns, ten if you include steady vibration as a pattern, which We-Vibe does. The S-shaped button below the other buttons is for Smart Silence. When you activate Smart Silence, the Wand 2 will turn off when it’s not directly touching your skin. This can help save the battery life and make solo playtime extra private.

If you’d like to use the We-Vibe app instead, the first step is to download the app. To pair the Wand 2 to the app, press the We-Vibe button (the s-shaped button) for five seconds until it vibrates twice and the light flashes. The flashing light indicates that the Wand 2 is in pairing mode. Then, follow the instructions on the We-Vibe app to finish pairing. When the vibe is ready, it will vibrate three times, and the light will stop flashing. From there, you can play around with the intensities, rhythms, and patterns until you find what you like the best.

The app is also helpful for long-distance play. To give control over to your long-distance partner, you will both need to download the app and then you can allow them to control the device. But you can still put a ceiling on how intense the vibrator gets, a handy feature for anyone who becomes easily overstimulated.

My Personal Experience

Wand vibrators: I have a million, yet I am elated each time one arrives at my doorstep. Even though I technically prefer pinpoint stimulation, wands work for me because they are ridiculously strong. The We-Vibe Wand 2 is so powerful that it might get the person next to you off—that’s how crazy its rumble is! Okay, while that’s an exaggeration, if you want power, you will be thrilled with the motor on this thing. It has enough to rip orgasm after orgasm out of you.

Features-wise, the Wand 2 was a mixed bag. I may be in the minority here, but I’m not the biggest fan of Smart Silence. This feature is perfect for anyone who needs to masturbate discreetly, but I find it irritating because it will shut off when I’m trying to change positions. Unless you are used to it, Smart Silence can throw off your sexual momentum. Plus, this feature pairs better with suction-based vibes because their volume changes drastically when they are suctioned around your clit (which is quiet) versus when they are not (which is much louder.) This product is somewhat loud no matter its position, so the Smart Silence feature does not seem like the most thoughtful choice for this device.

Packaging

We-Vibe’s packaging is reliably good. The Wand 2 came with a quick start guide, safety information, a USB recharging cable, and the vibe (image below). It was notably missing a storage bag. As someone who has an ungodly number of sex toys in their home, I get bummed out when a new device doesn’t come with a carrying case. Most toys I own are silicone, and you can’t simply throw those in a drawer together. When silicone rubs against silicone for long periods, it erodes the body-safe exterior, leaving tiny little holes begging to be filled with bacteria. Over time, your device may become impossible to sterilize and dangerous to use, especially with multiple partners.

The content of the box

For the long-term health of your toy, you should purchase a storage bag. Usually, a makeup bag does the trick, but this wand is so large you’ll want to check the dimensions before buying something to store it in. Otherwise, you can plan to keep it inside the box it came in, sterilizing it before each use.

Design

The Wand 2’s head is flexible, which would make sense with an internal device since it needs a little give to navigate the contours of your body. I was concerned that the flexible head on this clitoral vibrator would mean that it would disappear when you grind against it for more stimulation, but that didn’t happen.

At first glance, I had hoped that the longer, pointier end was where the motor was since I prefer pinpoint stimulation, but that was wishful thinking. The rumbly vibes come from the heavy, powerful motor at the thick base. There is a small ridge on the base, but it’s not pointy enough for pinpoint lovers to dig into the sensitive areas.

A closeup on the control buttons

What I most appreciated was the design of the buttons (you can see a closeup in the image above). This vibe was made by someone who masturbates with wands, and that’s a good thing. The plus button will be at the top of the toy when you hold it to masturbate, which is the most intuitive place for it to be, but that’s not where it is on many other wand vibrators. Having two arrows to wind through the patterns is also crucial because if you accidentally go past your fave, you can go back with one click rather than having to go through all ten.

I also adored the fact that the cord has a We-Vibe logo (the W/V) on the base. This helps people who have a daunting number of sex toys (like me) not lose track of which cord matches with which device. When you have a storage bag, it doesn’t much matter since you can typically fit the cord and the device all together, but this one doesn’t, so the labeled cord is key.

Lastly, I was a little disappointed that the vibrations transferred so well. Even though it has a long handle, my hand went numb after a little while. But I’m not sure we have the technology yet to mute a powerful rumble like this.

Material

The Wand 2 is made from waterproof, body-safe silicone; the best of the best, material-wise. If you are under the impression that most wands are made this way, that is simply not the case. The original wands were plug-in-the-wall, don’t-you-dare-go-near-the-bathtub kind of electronics. Comparatively, the We-Vibe Wand 2 is an incredible upgrade. Its design makes it versatile and easy to clean, perfect for use during travel or in the shower.

Stimulations

The stimulations are firmly on the rumbly end of the spectrum. The lowest level was so rumbly it almost felt as if the vibrations were coming in a pattern. As you increase the intensity, the Wand 2 becomes faster and slightly buzzier, but the power is so intense that you may become numb quickly. If you like faster vibrations, masturbate quickly before your clit can’t feel a thing.

I was a little confused that the website listed 10+ levels of intensity. That’s vague. When I tested, there were ten intensity levels, and I’m not sure why they didn’t publish the exact number. My best guess is that they are suggesting that, when you use the app, you can use smaller increments manually between each intensity level, giving you more than ten intensity choices.

Sound Level

This wand isn’t the quietest or the loudest one I own. When I tested the decibels, it ranged from 34 to 62. The sound is low for the power the motor produces, so it’s a good trade-off.

Build Quality and Dimensions

There’s no two ways about it: this is a big vibrator. It’s large and in charge; it’s heavy and hefty. The We-Vibe Wand 2 is not something that will slip sleekly between your legs and go unnoticed during sex. If you don’t want something big, this isn’t a good choice (You can see how it compares size-wise to some of my other wands below).

We-Vibe Wand 2 with some other wands I tested

Its size will also make it less convenient to use in certain positions during partner play. If I’m going to use a vibrator while having sex with a partner, I almost always choose the spooning position since I can hold the vibe without it getting in the way of any thrusting. Doggy style, cowgirl, and reverse cowgirl would work, too. But it would be cumbersome to use in missionary. But in the end, the dimensions are comparable with most wands.

Ease of Use

The We-Vibe Wand 2 is somewhat easy to use, but it has a lot of functionality, and there’s a minor learning curve to get the most out of this device.

App

You can control the Wand 2 with the We-Vibe app in several ways. The single vibe tab is a lever that you move up and down to control the intensity. In the multi-vibe tab, you can play with different patterns and intensities by moving into the four different quadrants. The We-Vibe app will also tell you how charged the wand is so you know when it’s time to top up the battery.

I have tried the We-Vibe app in tandem with several of their other sex toys, and I’ve had an overall enjoyable experience. Most of the devices I’ve tried it with were discreet, small, or hands-free, so I was curious to discover if the app would come in handy at all with a large wand or if it would be more trouble than it’s worth.

Me demonstrating the smartphone app

Overall, I don’t think the app is as handy with this vibe as it is with other devices. The We-Vibe Wand 2 is too big to be wearable, and it’s hard to get it to stay in place without using your hands. I tried keeping it in place with my thighs, which worked alright, but in the end, I prefer more pressure and something to grind against, so I had to use my hands again. You could also solve this if you have sex furniture, like a sex toy mount that you can ride on.

Since this gadget is challenging to use hands-free, the app will primarily be used by people in long-distance relationships or those who want complete control over patterns and rhythms. Since I don’t typically use patterns and I’m in a short-distance relationship, I would only use the app if my partner was on a business trip or if I wanted to sync the vibe to music for a change.

Versatility

The We-Vibe Wand 2 is the most versatile wand I own, thanks to the five-button interface and app compatibility. You can use it with a long-distance partner, create your own rhythms, and more. Or you can use it the old-fashioned way, with buttons. It’s perfect for travel because even though it doesn’t have a designated travel lock, you can activate the Smart Silence mode, and it will turn off immediately if it does get turned on in your bag during transit.

Since We-Vibe’s original model came with compatible attachments, I was curious if this one was compatible with any. I didn’t see anything directly mentioned on the website, so I contacted customer support, and they haven’t yet responded.

Where the We-Vibe Wand 2 loses versatility points is with its size. It won’t work for people who can’t use heavier toys, and it’s not as easy to use during partnered sex in some positions. It also has a bulbous end with no tip, so it works best for those who like broad stimulation rather than pinpoint, but that’s quite common with wand vibrator design.

Warranty and Support

We-Vibe offers a two-year warranty on the Wand 2.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

We-Vibe set out to make an incredibly powerful cordless wand, and to that end, they succeeded. However, there were a few minor design flaws that gave me pause. Smart Silence was not the ideal feature to pair with this product. Beyond that, the issues I found are trouble with nearly all wands, including that it’s large, the vibrations will numb your hand through the handle with extended use, and it’s an expensive purchase.

Alternatives to the We-Vibe Wand 2

We-Vibe Wand

The original We-Vibe Wand is still around, though a bit hard to find, as I could only see it for sale on We-Vibe’s European site. Both are cordless, but the Wand 2 has been redesigned to have an ergonomic handle that the original lacks. The original had joystick-inspired controls, but the Wand 2 has the more common button setup. The joystick was an interesting invention, a way to gently ramp up or down intensities without discretely going from level to level.

The biggest downgrade of the Wand 2 is that it doesn’t come with the two silicone attachments that the original did: a penis stroker and a textured ring. These attachments made the wand stand out big time. Many wands are compatible with attachments, but I’ve never received one that came with attachments that would make it pleasurable for people with any kind of genitals.

The Wand 2 has a less squishy head, making the vibrations slightly more pronounced. But if you love the feel of softness, that original might be more of your vibe (see what I did there?). Lastly, We-Vibe Wand 2 is slightly lighter and smaller than the first, which is clutch since it’s still heavy.

Dame Com

Dame Com is perhaps the most like Wand 2, as it is another all-silicone, waterproof vibe, shaped in a curve, with a flexible neck. That’s where the similarities end, though. Dame Com doesn’t have app capability, so it’s not as useful for long-distance partners and you can’t create your rhythms or sync the vibe up to whatever song you’re listening to. The Dame Com is larger but not as heavy as the Wand 2, but the stimulations are also significantly less intense. The Dame Com costs $120.

Dame Com

You can read more about Dame Com in my review.

Magic Wand Plus

The Magic Wand Plus beats the We-Vibe Wand 2 in terms of sheer power, but the Wand 2 is rumblier. Of course, the Magic Wand Plus must be plugged into the wall during use, which gives it that power boost but also makes it less convenient to use, more difficult to clean, and not feasible for shower sex. The brand sells many attachments you can use with the Plus, as well, making it pleasure-accessible for people of all genders. You can find a Magic Wand Plus for around $120.
