Right out of the box, it was clear that the b-Vibe Snug Plug was top-notch. In the image below, you can see it came with a cloth storage pouch, user guide, instruction manual for general anal how-to’s, and a cute “anal is magic” sticker. None of these are extraordinary additions, but small details like these help elevate the buying experience from underwhelming to satisfying, and are, in my opinion, clear indications of brand quality.

The only thing missing from this simple starter kit is lube—water-based or a water-silicone hybrid since this is a silicone plug—a must-have for anal play, so don’t forget to grab some before diving in. Unlike the other test samples, which were majority tear-drop-shaped, the b-Vibe Snug Plug 2 has a boxy and slightly hexagonal design. Although this design requires more patience during insertion since there’s less taper before you’re required to manage the toy’s full girth, it allowed for a fullness that was unmatched by its competitors. It also contributed to it being more comfortable than the competition, as the pressure of the toy is spread over a wider surface area.

The medical-grade silicone is the definition of silky smooth and among the softest that I’ve seen in all my years of sex toy testing. This made a difference during insertion, allowing me to cut down on wasted lubricant. But even more importantly for folks looking for a toy for all-day play, it allows you to get away with longer wear times in between re-lubing.

Also ideal for all-day wear are the T-shaped base and super thin and flexible neck (you can see a closeup of the shape in the image above). This combination, which is completely unique to the b-Vibe Snug Plug, is an absolute game-changer for extended wear, as it allows your anus muscles to completely relax around the stem. Since the stem nestles perfectly between your cheeks, it reduces friction while simultaneously preventing any possibility of this baby getting lost inside a tight tush.

The final feature that helped it take the top spot was the weighted balls that move freely throughout the toy’s interior. Although not as sensational as the Vibrating Snug Plug (more on that below), they’re what are responsible for the Snug’s satisfying weight and during gentle movements you can feel the balls gently moving, adding a dose of additional sensation.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Although the flexible and thin neck is ideal for extended wear, which is ultimately what the b-Vibe Snug Plug is made for, it makes it difficult to insert. Be prepared to exercise some patience while you get the hang of inserting this baby!

After comparing it to the other budget models we tested, it was clear right from the start that Lovehoney’s own Jeweled Heart was going to be a quality product. Not only was it beloved by our product testers, but it also has over 200 5-star reviews on Lovehoney, all of which praise its high-quality build and perfectly weighty design (which you can see in the image above). If you don’t know Lovehoney, it’s high time we change that. For over two decades, they have been industry leaders in the world of adult products, providing shoppers with high-quality products (ranging from lingerie to chastity belts), unparalleled customer service, and delivery times so quickly that they’ll make your head spin!

For that reason, it’s no surprise that their design team managed to put together this quality product. Unlike other jeweled toys, which tend to have an overall cheap and unfinished aesthetic, the Lovehoney Jeweled is all smooth edges and has a luxury feel, despite being a very affordable $26.99.One of the features that immediately stood out to our design team was the multi-faceted pink heart adorning the flared base, which is zoomed in the image below.

Our tester Sandra Larson said in her test report, “This plug had by far the most opulent-appearing jewel, even when compared to some of our more expensive options. Even though it’s a relatively minor detail, it did help me feel sexier while wearing it, and I feel confident that it will stand the test of time better than some of our other options.” More importantly than the jewel, though, especially considering this is a weighted butt plug review, is this Jeweled Heart’s absolutely perfectly heft? It’s not hard to tell that this one is made from solid metal. Even after removing it from its box (image below), it felt substantial and satisfyingly weighty in my hand. And it only got better post-insertion.

Another feature that was unique to the Jeweled Heart when compared to similar products, and that made all the difference in separating it from the rest of the pack, is the fact that it’s made from body-safe zinc alloy instead of stainless steel. This is a minor but ingenious decision made by the design team since, in my opinion, the pure stainless steel construction of some of the other products we tested was a little on the heavy side, especially for a beginner-friendly product.

Amazingly, Lovehoney managed to create what I consider to be a perfectly weighted toy for beginners—heavy enough to give you the satisfying fill that these types of anal plugs are known for, but not so heavy that it feels cumbersome or uncomfortable during extended use. But wait there’s more. If you’re sold on the Jeweled Heart (who wouldn’t be, honestly) and are in the market for a size up, you can find this baby in two other sizes, each of which is a third of an inch wider than the last.

Minor issues we found during testing:

If you’re a seasoned pro, the Lovehoney Jeweled in its smallest size probably isn’t going to be the plug for you. Inserting this one is insanely easy and the tapered body is super comfortable, so if you’re considering choosing the next size up, I recommend you do so.

Otherwise, the only qualm I have with this plug (which is admittedly very nitpicky)  is that it didn’t come with a storage bag! Though it’s virtually indestructible, I would hate to see such a beautiful plug end up with a scratch.

3. njoy Pure Plug: For Heavy-Metal Fans!

Why we love njoy Pure Plug:

The njoy Pure Plug is another product that uses its weight to its advantage. With a relatively small and very beginner-friendly build (seen in the image above), I was surprised by just how much sensation it delivered via its bulbous, pointed tip. But the thing that stole our hearts is its undeniably luxurious build. Not only is it built to last, but it was the most beautiful of all the products we tested, and the perfect gift for that special someone (or yourself, no judgment).

Starting with the packaging. Even before opening the box, I was blown away by the Pure Plug. Instead of the standard cardboard box that most products show up in, it comes in an opulent black box that looks better suited to be holding a diamond ring than a metal butt plug (image below). Inside it, sitting atop a velvet liner is the stunning Pure Plug. On the official njoy website, they describe it by saying, “This toy shines where the sun doesn’t,” which turns out to be true. Its metal exterior is so polished that, if the looped base was a little larger, you could get away with wearing it as a ring, and even after multiple uses, it was just as polished as the day it arrived.

Aside from looks, however, the Pure Plug is full of practical features that made it adept at delivering a unique anal experience. Starting with the size and shape, I found it easier to insert than any of the other products we tested. Since this can be a big barrier for people trying and enjoying anal, I can recommend the Pure Plug for beginners and anyone that struggles to get past the initial “hump” posed by other anal plugs.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the Pure Plug’s weight. Weighing in at 7 ounces, this baby is one of the heaviest toys in this review, with most of its heft being located in its relatively small tip. What this creates is an undeniable sense of presence that doesn’t feel overbearing or uncomfortable, even after hours of extended use. Finally, the T-shaped base (highlighted in the image below) is another ergonomic design feature that serves multiple purposes, allowing you to insert and remove the Pure Plug relatively effortlessly while also being thin enough to prevent unwanted chafing during longer stints.

As far as prostate stimulation goes, I’ve heard mixed messages. With an insertable length of 2.5 inches and a gentle inward curve, the Pure Plug is technically well-designed to hit the p-spot, which is located around two inches inside your rectum. [1] Although our tester Shane Davis was quoted as saying, “Everything about this toy, from its gentle curve to its bulbous head, made it perfect for prostate stimulation,” depending on your unique anatomy, it could be a miss. But if you do decide to shell out on this luxury plug, you can rest assured that you’ll be investing in something that is guaranteed to provide a lifetime of pleasure.

Minor issues we found during testing:

You have to be quite nitpicky to find anything wrong with the Pure Plug. The only qualms I had with this near-perfect anal plug are that its luxury packaging didn’t include a sample bottle of lubricant and that, at $109.99, it’s definitely not a budget-friendly pick.
