LELO LIV 3Most regular masturbators with vulvas want a few things from their go-to vibe: reliability, power, and ease of use. Too much setup, glitches in an app, or power that feels more itchy than intense can end someone’s loyalty to a vibe. That’s why everyday vibes are the superheroes of the sex toy community. They may not be as flashy, versatile, or giftable as their pricier counterparts, but when it comes to getting you off, they never miss.

Enter the LELO LIV 3, the vibe of the people. LELO is a luxury brand, but this bae is one of their more affordable vibes. When one arrived on my doorstep, I was curious as I began my LELO LIV 3 review. Would it deliver power and easy-to-reach orgasms? Join me as I find out!

Key Takeaways
3.9 out of 5 stars

Can you find a better app-controlled G-spot vibrator for less than $100? My money’s on no. For the price, this vibe delivers reliability, power, and ease of use in spades. If you already have the LIV 2, however, it’s only worth the upgrade if you need something app-compatible.

Who Should Try It? If you have a cheap vibrator you love and are ready to get something a little nicer, the LELO LIV 3 is a fabulous choice. Anyone who is new to G-spot exploration will enjoy this, too. Those who want to try an app-compatible toy without breaking the bank will love this as well.

Who Can Skip It? If size and power are on your must-have list, skip this vibrator and try the We-Vibe Rave 2 instead.

You Can Buy It on the official LELO website for $99.

What Is the LELO LIV 3?

The LELO LIV 3 is a waterproof, body-safe, G-spot vibrator perfect for travel, partnered play, and long-distance couples. It has eight modes with two extras when you use the app. It comes in gorgeous packaging and is shockingly affordable compared with other LELO G-spot vibes. The size will appeal to people who prefer smaller toys, those who are new to internal devices, and anyone with sexual pain.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

The unboxing process starts when the package arrives on your doorstep. And on your doorstep, you need only one thing from a sex toy company: discretion. LELO’s products always arrive in a discreet cardboard box, happily free of large letters that say “MASTURBATION!” or anything else that would pique the curiosity of your neighbors.

The box wrapped in black satin

LELO’s unboxing experience is unmatched, and it lives up to the hype even on their budget toys ($100 for a vibe may not seem like a budget toy, but for LELO, this is a steal.) The LIV 3 came in its signature gorgeous black box with a picture window so you can anticipate what you’re opening. There’s nothing more giftable that I’ve come across.

Inside the box is the LIV 3, a USB charging cable, a satin storage pouch, a warranty registration card, and the instruction manual (everything is displayed in the image below). The instruction manual’s print is so tiny that I found the online version much easier to use.

The LELO LIV 3 has unbe-LIV-able features, including:

  • App with FINISH ME OFF and OUT OF CONTROL patterns
  • Easy to use three-button-interface
  • Waterproof, body-safe materials

Specifications

LELO LIV 3 specifications at a glance:

  • Material: Body-safe silicone, ABS plastic

  • Color: Powder blue, plum, or deep rose
  • Mechanism: G-spot vibration

How Do I Use the LELO LIV 3?

After you give yourself the gift that is a LELO unboxing, charge the LIV 3. The website suggested that it would take up to two hours to charge and then last up to two hours. For a charge-to-use time ratio, that’s medium. When I tested it, it lasted 11 hours and 44 minutes on the lowest setting and took just under two hours to come to a full charge. That’s an incredible battery life, even though the lowest setting is remarkably low.

Then, wash it. It’s waterproof, so you can use warm water and antibacterial soap if that’s what you have. If you have sex toy cleaner, that will work, too. Then dry it with a lint-proof towel unless a linty vibrator is your kink.

Next, get turned on. Watch, listen to, or read some of your favorite erotic materials, or play around with your partner. Grab some water-based lube (never mix silicone-based lube with a silicone-based vibe; that’s asking for trouble) and lube yourself up internally and lube up the LIV 3 as well. If you’ve never found your G-spot before, it’s time to go a-hunting. Place the colored end of the vibe a few inches inside until the pressure feels pleasurable.

Now is your chance to play with the settings. You can operate the LIV 3 via the three-button interface located at the vibe’s base or with the app. Let’s start with the three-button interface. You can turn the vibrator on by pressing the + or (()) button. The (()) button will also cycle you through the eight modes. The plus and minus buttons take you through the intensity levels. Then, press and hold the (()) to turn it off when you’re finished.

The vibrator has a setting that turns it off after twenty minutes of “inactivity.” This feature is meant to protect the battery life but is sometimes abrupt if you find your favorite setting and get close to climaxing. If you are traveling and want to lock it to preserve the battery, press and hold the plus and minus buttons simultaneously.

If you’d rather play around with the app, you need to download it and pair it to your vibrator. Once you’ve downloaded the app, press the (()) and hold for three seconds to put LIV into pairing mode. In the LELO app, find the toy icon at the bottom, locate your toy, and press connect. Now you can play. See how easy that was?

My Personal Experience

I recently received the LELO GIGI 3, which has a lot in common with the LIV 3. I was impressed with the GIGI 3, so I was excited to try the LIV 3. Long story short, I LIVed it (see what I did there?).

Since I like to try vibes every which way when possible, I tried the device externally as a clitoral vibrator as well as internally on my G-spot. It performed beautifully in both scenarios, making it versatile and an ideal vibrator for people who haven’t yet tried G-spot vibration. If you decide you aren’t a fan of internal stimulation, you can use this successfully as an external vibe.

I used the LIV 3 alone and with my partner and loved it both ways. It was quiet enough to use during sex with my partner externally on my clit or internally while my partner performed oral. Since it’s not a tiny device, it was easiest to use during penetrative sex when we were in the spooning position so I had free range to use it at whatever angle felt best.

I read the online manual, and the LELO manuals often open with the phrase, “Enjoy it often, wisely and with care.” In my experience, I never feel particularly wise while masturbating, but otherwise, I followed their instruction to a tee.

Lastly, when I tested this vibrator, it started to get fairly warm after about thirty minutes of use. It was never worrisome, but it’s something to consider if a warm sex toy makes you nervous.

Packaging

As you can see in the image below, the packaging is so good I get turned on just thinking about it. 10/10.

The packaging

Design

LELO’s design is always thoughtful and durable, which is quite a feat for a vibe that’s under $100. It’s not huge or over-the-top powerful, but it’s made for everyday use and checks every box most users will need for routine orgasm upkeep. The gentle curve and slight size are excellent for anyone looking for their G-spot for the first time.

Material

LELO LIV 3 is made from body-safe silicone and ABS plastic. The mixture of the two doesn’t have the high-end aesthetic that most LELO toys do, but it is still an attractive, well-built vibe made of luxurious materials.

Stimulations

The stimulations are on the lighter side but still incredible. The first setting took me aback: it’s very gentle but incredibly rumbly. It’s almost a shake. As you move up the settings, the stimulations get faster, stronger, and buzzier. I typically prefer lighter settings, but I was inclined to use the higher settings on this toy.

Sound Level

The LELO LIV 3’s sound level was moderate. On the lower levels, it is nearly silent but gets a bit louder as you move up the intensities. The website said it would be under sixty decibels. When I tested it, it ranged from 35 to 55 (You can see me testing the sound level using a decibel meter below).

Build Quality and Dimensions

The manual describes the LELO LIV 3 as a mid-sized G-spot vibrator, but I’d say it’s on the smaller end. It’s not very long and it’s relatively thin, but it’s not tiny. It’s thoughtfully sized, but it’s not for size queens. The dimensions make it ideal for beginners and those who like to titillate their G-spot rather than obliterate it.

LELO LIV 3 and GIGI 3 side by side

It’s small enough to slip into the storage bag and bring on vacation, but it’s large enough to satisfy G-spot enthusiasts. (You can see me comparing LIV 3 and her sister GIGI 3 side-by-side in the image above.)

App

The app also delivers two bonus modes for pleasure. FINISH ME OFF and OUT OF CONTROL are two patterns that you can try. FINISH ME OFF is a pulsating rhythm that slowly builds, a must-try for people who don’t want to manually increase the stimulation as their orgasm nears. OUT OF CONTROL mode is a random rhythm, which I found a bit too unpredictable to keep me interested. But it will be clutch for anyone who gets off on the element of surprise (In the image below, you can see me demonstrating the smartphone application).

Me demonstrating the smartphone app

The LELO app also has the option to create a link to send to your partner to give them temporary control over LIV 3’s settings. The first step for them is to download the app, and then they can control your toy with the sound of their voice (sexy!), shaking the phone (interesting!), or playing a game with an orange ball in a mohawk (a little weird!).

If you’ve paired other sex toys to apps, using the LELO app will be a cinch. It’s fairly straightforward even if you haven’t.

The app succeeds on the ease-of-use and added utility fronts, but this G-spot vibe still can’t be used hands-free. Since I’m not in a long-distance relationship, I would primarily use this without the app.

Ease of Use

LELO LIV 3 is straightforward to use, especially if you don’t plan on using the app much. The three-button interface (image below) is easy to figure out with or without the manual. Since I’ve used countless sex toys, I was able to intuit what each button did.

Further, it’s made from waterproof materials. That means that not only do you have the freedom to use it in the bath or shower, but you can also wash it without any fuss. Feel free to submerge it in warm water to give it a good (but gentle) scrub.

Closeup of the control buttons

It’s also easy to store. It’s small and comes with its own storage bag. The trick with silicone toys is to not store them in a drawer with a bunch of other toys. If you have more than one silicone device, this is extra important. It’s the same principle that makes it unwise to use silicone lube with a silicone sex toy. Silicone-on-silicone situations allow the two to damage the non-porous surface. Over time, they can create pores where bacteria like to live, wreaking havoc on your sexual health. TL;DR, storing this in its storage bag will keep it safe from the elements and allow you to enjoy it for years to come.

Versatility

LELO LIV 3 is the rare vibrator that is both easy to use and versatile. Usually, one comes at the expense of the other. The LIV 3 is versatile in many ways. It’s waterproof and safe to use in wet or dry scenarios. The size and quiet sound level make it perfect for travel or use during partnered sex.

Lastly, the app gives the toy a boost in versatility score. It allows you to control the settings more precisely or connect with a long-distance partner. However, the two modes included in the app could have easily been accessible via the three-button interface, too. It doesn’t feel like this vibrator was built for app use but has included the app as an afterthought.

Warranty and Support

The LIV 3 comes with a one-year warranty, where they will send you a replacement if something goes wrong with the vibrator if you keep your receipt. LELO also offers a ten-year quality guarantee, so when your G-spot vibrator crosses over to the other side, you get a discount on your next purchase.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

The LIV 3 is an excellent vibe, and the quality for the price is incredible. However, I feel like the app doesn’t add significant utility. The stimulations are also on the light side, and it got warm after half an hour of use on the higher settings.

Alternatives to the LELO LIV 3

LELO LIV 2

The original LIV is no longer available for purchase on the LELO website, but LIV 2 is. There is a difference in design, with the LIV 2 having a wide, shiny seam between the silicone and the ABS plastic. The button interface has been modernized on the LIV 3. The LIV 2 was quieter and lasted even longer somehow. However, the main difference is that the LIV 2 isn’t app-compatible. If you don’t plan to use the app, you can grab the LIV 2 for just $79.

LELO GIGI 3

These two vibrators are so in sync, they could be sisters. They’re nearly identical in size, power, and color—everything except the tip’s design and the fact that the lowest setting on the LIV 3 is lighter and rumblier than the lowest setting on the GIGI 3. Their max power feels equal. They are so similar I’m shocked that the GIGI 3 is $139 and the LIV 3 is $99. Unless you need a broader shape, I’d get the LIV 3.

Lovense Osci 2

The Lovense Osci 2 is another app-controlled G-spot toy, but rather than vibrating, it oscillates. It offers pinpoint G-spot stimulation and works as an external vibrator as well. The unboxing experience of the Lovense Osci 2 isn’t as impressive as LIV 3’s, but it has the superior app by far. Anyone interested in camming or planning to use the app primarily will want to spring for the Lovense Osci 2.
