Arcwave Ion Review 2024 | Does It Live Up To The Hype?

Arcwave IonI get plenty of sex from my beautiful (and willing) wife, so I consider myself a lucky guy. The bonus is she lets me enjoy my other dirty hobby – testing all the newest male sex toys I find online. I recently got the much-talked-about Arcwave Ion from WOW Tech, and I was curious to see if the new sex toy lived up to the hype.

Key Takeaways
4.4 out of 5 stars

I can best describe the feeling as a high-speed rumbling vibration that pulsed through most of my cock, primarily concentrated on the frenulum. It’s a smooth vibration, though, not the violent jolts you get from a standard masturbator. Overall, the intense orgasms I received from it differ from anything I’ve experienced, and in my eyes, Ion has set a new standard for male masturbators. Highly recommended!

Who Should Try It? Anyone looking for a premium male masturbator that you will want to use regularly, I don’t think you can skip Arcwave Ion. If your experience is anything like mine, you will enjoy it more and more with each use.

Who Can Skip It? Arcwave Ion is a high-end male sex toy with a premium price, so budget-seekers may want to consider a cheaper frenulum stimulator, such as Lovense Gush ($99) or Lovehoney O Force ($40)

What Is Arcwave Ion?

The Arcwave Ion is WOW Tech’s flagship male masturbator for penis owners. It uses the same technology as the company’s line of Womanizer products, i.e., pulsating air pressure to rumble the clitoris without directly touching it, hitting the sensitive nerve endings, and getting them off in record time. The Arcwave model uses the same technology, allowing males to experience what their partners have been raving about for years.

Arcwave is the male-focused brand of the parent company WOW-Tech Group. Originally based in Berlin, WOW-Tech Group has made waves in the female sex toy game since 2018. And they now have products available in over 60 countries.

If you haven’t heard of The Womanizer, We-Vibe, and Romp, I can bet most of your female friends have. In fact, they probably have one of these vibrators in their bedroom drawer. WOW-Tech Group is also the producer of the Pjur lubricant and a myriad of other pleasure products.

The manufacturer claims to be on a mission to become the premier provider of sexual health and wellness products worldwide. A big call? Maybe, but after owning my Arcwave Ion for a few weeks now, I think it’s an achievable goal.

Packaging

When my Arcwave Ion arrived at the door, I thought it was something else purely because the box was massive.

After opening the discreet outer packaging, the box is impressive. An outer sleeve that slides off smoothly reveals a high-end, matte finish box, similar to how Apple packages its computers.

Arcwave Ion inside the box

The box has a hinged top, and inside, the sex toy is presented beautifully, nestled in a black insert. The inside of the box lid even has some quick-start graphics for the people who can’t wait to try it out, and I wouldn’t blame them – it’s an attractive package.

Arcwave Ion arrives fully charged, so it’s possible to dive straight in without waiting hours like other similar masturbators.

Included with Arcwave Ion were the following:

  • Acwave Ion male masturbator main unit
  • Charging storage base
  • USB charging cable
  • A tiny sample bottle of Pjur water-based lubricant (good quality stuff)
  • User manual, safety instructions, and warranty instructions

The device and the content of the box

Design

If you aren’t impressed by the looks and feel of it straight out of the box, then you’re a hard man to please. Put simply. The Arcwave Ion is the most sophisticated-looking male sex toy on the market.

The main unit is a beautiful matte black device that looks like a space shuttle, with the stretchy silicone sleeve blending seamlessly with the more solid plastic motor section.

The unit sitting in the charging station

The unit slides easily onto the charging dock, which has a similar aesthetic and could easily sit on a dresser without being recognized by your guests.

Other companies take note – this company sets the standard for how premium sex toys should be packaged. The Arcwave Ion was one of the first experiences where I hadn’t felt cheated before even using the toy. My partner had the same orgasm experience from her Womanizer vibrator, also from WOW Tech.

Too often, I’m let down after spending a large amount of my hard-earned cash, only to receive a sex toy with sub-par packaging and accessories as if they were an afterthought. It seems some companies spend most of their budget on fancy promo videos. Once the customer has paid, that’s the end of the relationship. Not including lube, no storage unit, and lousy customer support are common grievances that cause customer dissatisfaction.

Pleasure Air

Pleasure Air is a patented technology developed by WOW Tech Group.

How it works: Pulsating airwaves hit the frenulum nerve endings, causing a rumbling, tingling sensation that’s unlike any other feeling I’ve experienced in a sex toy.

The device has a small valve that sits on your frenulum, the small flap of skin between the underside of your cock’s head and shaft. This little area is now recognized to function similarly to the clitoris.

Arcwave Ion

The developers wanted to hit those Womanizer feelings but realized they had to increase the intensity for the male version.

The Pleasure Air creates a quite gentle sensation to begin with, but as the tension builds, the feeling becomes more intense. By the time you reach a male orgasm, you hit an explosive peak that feels like you have been edging for hours before allowing yourself to let go.

Smart Silence

The Smart Silence feature turns the motor on or off based on contact, and the pleasure air sensor is surprisingly accurate and fast.

Admittedly, the Ion isn’t the quietest adult toy out there, but the noise drops considerably to a low rumble once the Pleasure Air valve is engaged.

The controls

You can turn the Smart Silence function off, but during my Arcwave Ion review, I found no need to do so; it worked well enough not to inhibit or cause any frustration. It will also power off automatically when not in use, so you won’t run the battery down accidentally after passing out post-orgasm.

Material

The silicone sleeve is a real winner. The material is called CleanTech silicone and is available exclusively with the Arcwave range of male pleasure devices. It’s hypoallergenic silicone, resistant to UV light, and feels more durable and dense than most silicone sleeves.

The interior sleeve of Arcwave Ion

Clean Tech silicone is also biocompatible, meaning no nasty effects on your skin, even with excessive use (although none of us would be guilty of that, would we?).

Arcwave’s choice to use silicone over TPE is a good one. Although I like the feeling, TPE picks up dirt and dust quickly and tends to deteriorate faster than silicone. For this style of toy, I feel that the firmer feel of silicone helps with the sensation around the penis.

Twist to Open

Perhaps the most unsung feature of the Arcwave is how incredibly easy it is to clean.

The Ion can twist open in two pieces

The unit comprises two pieces; the sleeve and the main body (which houses the battery and motor). Both pieces are fully waterproof and connect seamlessly with a simple twist. To wash, you simply twist apart and rinse both parts with soap and running water. Genius.

Storage

Storing and charging Arcwave Ion is pretty simple, thanks to a simple case that comprises a charging base and a top cover. The unit sits neatly upright in storage.

The device charging inside the storage unit

It charges discreetly, with the storage base looking like a random electronic device such as a modem or air purifier. And it also has a battery level indicator to show you when it’s ready for your next session.

How To Use Arcwave Ion?

The Arcwave Ion couldn’t be easier to operate during use.

The control panel consists of 3 simple buttons:

  1. Smart Silence button – to switch the function on or off
  2. Plus (+) button – which turns up the intensity and also acts as a Power On/Off
  3. Minus (-) button – lowers the intensity

The manual

There are eight intensity levels to choose from, without the need or want of any weird pre-set patterns. Let’s face it, when was the last time you used one of those gimmicky patterns over a basic intensity setting on your sex toy?

My Personal Experience

I’d heard rave reviews about the Arcwave Ion from friends, and along with some online research, I was soon treating myself to another new device.

Receiving a fully charged device is a bonus. Still, my Ion arrived just before I headed out the door for work, so I had a full day of anticipation and semi-boners thinking about what lay ahead.

After coming home and filming a hasty unboxing video (the things I do for you guys!), I was ready to relax and see what all the fuss was about.

Ease Of Use

Controlling the Arcwave Ion is easy. And you can get to work straight out of the box without reading the manual. I used the quick 3-step guide on the box and had no issues.

It’s literally; dispense lube – turn on – place dick inside – enjoy.

Using the + and – buttons takes a little practice without losing concentration. Still, I soon became familiar with them, and switching up and down in intensity became second nature.

This simple user experience is a welcome change from some of the more supposedly high-tech penis toys that require apps and a computer degree before you start. Having too much to think about and set up is a guaranteed boner killer for me.

The lubrication provided is top-notch. I had never heard of Pjur before, but it’s lovely. It’s a slippery, water-based lube that doesn’t have that ultra gooey and slimy feel many other brands have. It also lasts a long time. The 10mL bottle provided lasted me four liberal sessions, and I’ve already ordered a full-sized bottle online because I love it so much.

Sound Level

Please note that the masturbator can be noisy, but once the Pleasure Wave valve is covered (by your penis) and the toy does its job, the sound reduces to a low hum. If your girl has Womanizer, you’ll have a good idea of the humming sound I’m talking about.

The sound of the Pleasure Air system without a cock to muffle can be off-putting. Never fear; the Smart Silence mode works well. I’ve left my Ion in Smart Silence mode each time and had no issues with excessive noise. I live in an apartment, and even if my neighbors have heard anything, I’m not sure they could distinguish it as a male masturbator.

Build Quality

Arcwave doesn’t market this as a penis stroker, which seems odd. The quality of the latex and its bulging interior ridges offer some unique sensations as a basic male stroker. And if they offered a non-powered version with the same interior and feel as the Ion, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

During my Arcwave Ion review, I found no issues with grip during use, but maybe for those with smaller hands, the unit may feel a little big and slippery to hold. On the plus side, it’s relatively lightweight, so there’s no strain from being too heavy.

Size-wise, I think it would suit nearly all penis dimensions. I have a slightly thicker cock than average, which causes me trouble with some hands-free masturbators, a few being too small to fit comfortably (looking at you, Lelo F1S). The Arcwave was a snug but comfortable fit. And the silicone sleeve feels like it could stretch or contract either way, depending on the cock involved.

The sleeve has an open-ended design, allowing the head of your penis to poke out the top and say hi. I got more engorged than usual with the sleeve pressing under the head, which was a good ego boost.

Stimulations

Because most of the sensations concentrate on the Pacinian pleasure receptors in the frenulum, I guess the designers realized there’s no need to encase the entire penis. This design has a few fantastic advantages:

  • It leaves room for more significant-sized members.
  • The ridge of the opening rubs nicely on the top side edge of my head, which is the skin contact spot that gets me off most during blowjobs.
  • There’s an opportunity for couples play, where your partner can play with and lick the head of your cock simultaneously while using the Arcwave.

Getting used to the feeling of the Pleasure Air technology didn’t take me long. The manufacturer recommends using the Arcwave Ion at least five times, reasoning that it may take a while to hit the right spot and get used to a different sensation. This advice prepared me for disappointment on the first try, but thankfully that wasn’t the case at all.

The trick is positioning your cock in precisely the right place, and you will need to relax and give it some time to find that perfect spot.

The Pleasure Air kicks in when your frenulum is pressed up firmly against the lower inside wall of the sleeve. I would describe the feeling as a high-speed rumbling vibration that pulses through most of your cock, but primarily concentrates on the frenulum. It’s a kind of smooth vibration, though, not the violent jolts you may expect from a regular male masturbator.

My instinct was to move the sleeve up and down to get more feeling, but the real magic came from learning to relax and let the Pleasure Air do its work for you. When I loosened my grip, the toy’s vibrations seemed to penetrate more, which is when I got the best feelings.

Once you allow the Arcwave Ion to act as an edging toy and give it time to build, the feeling becomes more and more intense, and a full-blown explosion is imminent. And be ready for that volcanic explosion. My first experience left a fine mess to clean afterward.

A mix of stroking motion and Pleasure Air edging also worked well for me at times, although the more I use it, the more I return to Pleasure Air as a default; it’s just so darn good. It can also be a little off-putting to have the motor turning on and off repeatedly in Smart Silence mode, which happens when stroking.

What I’ve come to love most about the Arcwave Ion is how it helps as a trainer for someone who admittedly jerks off with too much force and regularity. I’ve found myself more sensitive and having more stimulating sex with my partner since using the Arcwave’s gentle buzz in place of my death grip wank sessions.

Other reviews describe it as giving males a chance to experience the female orgasm. Unfortunately, I’ll never be able to confirm a woman’s feelings when she comes. I can say, though, that the intense orgasms I received from this device differ from anything I’ve experienced.

Cleaning and Storing

I despise the cleaning process after a good wank. Luckily, the Arcwave Ion designers must also dislike it because the cleaning and drying is an absolute breeze.

The sleeve and body are entirely waterproof and separate with a simple twist. Simply twist the two apart, run under warm water with some hand soap, and pat dry or air dry.

After that, the toy can be placed back on the case to charge.

The silica DryTech Stick and the pjur water-based lubricant

In addition, a silica “Dry Tech Stick” is provided to help draw away any excess moisture and water droplets. The Arcwave website has refill packs of the dry sticks and replacement charge cases if you break the original.

Another great thing about the Clean Tech silicone is that it doesn’t seem to pick up lint and dust like other toys.

Review Summary

Cleanup4.8 out of 5 stars
Price4 out of 5 stars
Overall Rating4.4 out of 5 stars

In my eyes, the Arcwave Ion has set the standard for male masturbators. One of the only premium toys I own I have genuinely felt was worth every penny.

The more I use the toy, the more I enjoy and appreciate its unique sensations.

It’s a total game-changer for me and something I have been recommending to all my friends.

Check it out if you are in the market for a new solo or couples sex toy. Why let the girls have all the fun?

After testing all four Arcwave products available today, I rank Ion as number one. Here’s my complete ranking with links to the reviews: 1) Arcwave Ion, 2) Arcwave Voy, 3) Arcwave Pow, and 4) Arcwave Ghost.

Pros

  • Beautiful looking minimalist design.
  • Body-safe materials.
  • Simple to use.
  • Waterproof.
  • Suitable for larger-sized penis.
  • Ergonomic controls.
  • Couple play is possible.
  • Ideal for edging and training.
  • USB rechargeable and long battery life.
  • Two-year warranty.

Cons

  • It may not be suitable for small penises.
  • Subtle vibrations may not suit everyone.
  • Some practice is required to enjoy the sensations fully.
  • High price tag (cost $199).
  • Arcwave Ion has no suction.
  • It’s a bit noisy.

Who Is This For?

For anyone looking at investing in a premium male masturbator that you will want to use regularly, I don’t think you can go past the Arcwave Ion. If your experience is anything like mine, you will enjoy it more and more with each use.

It’s a simple design without any experimental Tech that will quickly be superseded or outdated.

If you’re looking for a high-quality toy with body-safe materials and good looks, consider the Arcwave.

Who Is This Not For?

The Arcwave Ion is a premium-end male masturbator with a premium price tag, so those on a budget may want to consider a more cost-friendly alternative.

  • Meiki ZXY is my recommendation for a great men’s masturbator with a lower cost. The downside is that it doesn’t vibrate, and you must do the stroking yourself. For a vibrating budget option, you can try Lovense Max 2.
  • The sleeve is also on the large side, so it may not suit smaller-sized guys. The Lelo F1S is perfect for smaller cocks, and it has some incredible functionality.
  • The company just released a new masturbator called Arcwave Voy. It’s a good option if you want a budget masturbator, the only downside being it’s not automatic.

I hope you enjoyed my Arcwave Ion review!
