How We Picked the Products

I selected dozens of penis pumps for this review. I also assembled a team of sex experts (myself and Shane Davis) to test the pumps and report on their experiences. Before sending the team out for the 38-day exercise, I defined test criteria we could measure on a scale from 0 to 100. Some of these included the following:

• Like sex toys, size is essential. After all, people are different, and what works for a 6″ penis size isn’t what will work for an 8″. So, we prioritized brands that sell up to 6 sizes for a single series.
• Safety. More than anything else, your safety is integral to the pumping experience. Why we love the Bathmate Hydromax series:

Why we love Tracey Cox EDGE:

Tracey Cox EDGE is our recommendation if you’re in the market for a budget-friendly model. It costs only $49.99, the lowest price for such a well-made penis vacuum pump. Most of the pumps we reviewed were well over the $100 mark, and even at half that price, Tracey Cox presented a formidable challenge, rubbing shoulders with some of the other quality products on the list.

My colleagues really felt that the vacuum pump was built to last. It has a well-thought-out and minimalistic design, with a silicone ring around the base to enhance suction pressure and ensure the contact with your groin feels comfortable. “I also loved the measurements on the tube because they made it easy to keep track of the gains. It was not as good as on Hydromax, but still decent enough for the majority of consumers”, Shane Davis pointed out.

Something else that we noted during the review was the ease of use. Although most people will need both hands to use it, unless you have massive hands as I do, the squeeze bulb (red circle) and quick-release valve (blue circle) make for a blissful experience.

They thought the squeeze bulb was well-measured to fit perfectly into the palm. It was easy to squeeze and only takes a few compressions to wake the penis. “As soon as I pressed three or four times, my penis started to amass its size. Like other penis enlargement pumps, my dick didn’t get any more extensive in the long term. However, I realized I was getting hard more efficiently, even without the pump. I also thought the erections were much more robust and long-lasting.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, Tracey Cox EDGE is not the most travel-size pump we reviewed. It was undoubtedly more tedious to carry around when Sandra and I traveled, and storage was a headache.

With a hydro-power design, HydroXtreme draws even suction for increased length and girth. However, we think beginners should start with a less powerful model first.

Away from the powerful suction, the Bathmate HydroXtreme series is available in six sizes so that every man can experience the bulk. These include the following:

Something else that stuck out to me was the longevity of the results. Besides getting a hard-on quickly, I noted that it took at least 8 hours before I needed to use the HydroXtreme pump again. More importantly, the subsequent erections were much more robust and long-lasting.

While I could hold the pump with a single hand, most people will have to use both to position it, at least before pumping away. Overall, the user experience was positive, and the hydro pump was among the easiest-to-use pumps I’ve used over the years.

Minor issues we found during testing:

The ruler doesn’t give accurate readings, and I see it more as a guide. The silicon suction entry is very flexible. Hence the cylinder will never be positioned the same way as it compresses differently each time. The ruler also doesn’t start at zero (say what!?) but a few inches up. It’s no major flaw, but please keep this in mind.

It’s also not the easiest penis pump to use, and it definitely has a learning curve. At first, it felt like it was a juggling act since there were so many parts to keep track of. But it got much easier after a week of regular use, and I got everything set up in a few seconds.

Why the HydroXtreme series is the most powerful penis pump:

Of the dozens of pumps we tested, HydroXtreme was the most powerful. Hence, it’s perfect for people who wish to get the quickest results. But we still think the Hydromax series deserves a higher ranking because it’s more affordable and less complicated while still giving you the same results (albeit slightly slower).

• Results: The girth increased by 0.2 inches after the first week and kept growing with regular use. I also noticed my erections becoming firmer. I felt like a teenager again as they popped up at a moment’s notice! Two thumbs up from wifey!

The Hydro series is perfect for beginners mostly because of the more forgiving suction and the easy-to-use controls. I would say it falls somewhere below the Hydromax and HydroXtreme series in suction power and complexity, making it a great entry model for those new to penis pumps.

Like the Max and Extreme series, the Hydro line uses water, which we believe is better than the air pumps. Besides providing even suction distribution, the pump is much gentler, an essential feature for beginners.

Something that stood out was how easy it was to use the pump. “It doesn’t have a squeezer ball like the Hydroextreme series, freeing your hands to focus on other parts of your body, like the balls, to make the process much quicker and more exciting. Why the Hydro series is the most beginner-friendly penis pump:

As mentioned earlier, the Hydro pump falls below the extreme and max series in terms of power. But it’s not as weak as you might think. While you for sure will feel the difference between the two other series, it has a gentle suction consistency that’ll excite any beginner, making it a great first penis pump. In addition, it performed very well in the following categories:

• Ease of Use: My colleagues pointed out how easy it was to use the Hydro pump, commending the designers for not including the hand pump in the extreme series. “While the pump might be a great addition for power, it complicates handling, which is the last thing a beginner penis pump user wants,” one tester pointed out.

Why we love the Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy:

The Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy is a good choice for well-endowed guys. Besides accommodating 5″ – 7″ penises, it has a maximum circumference of 7.5″, making it perfect for men with long and wide members.

Notably, the Hydromax series lies in the middle of the Hydro and Hydroextreme series. It packs enough power for the most experienced user and is adequately sized to match the suction pressure.

I’m not the girthiest, but my colleagues sang praises for the big boy. “I’ve struggled to get a penis pump that can hold my penis inside without feeling constricted, and the Hydromax7 Wide-Boy is the only one that did it.” Another stressed that he always had to eject from the pump before full erection to avoid ‘getting stuck,’ but he didn’t have to anymore with the Wide-Boy.

Unlike most penis pumps, the benefits of using Hydromax7 Wide-Boy are carried along throughout the day. The brand says 24 hours, but my erections were more complex and long-lasting for about 8 hours of initial use.

Minor issues we found during testing:

It might not be the most expensive, but it isn’t affordable. It costs $159, which might be off-putting for most people, especially those new to hydro penis pumps.

The Wide-Boy’s a little bigger; most people will fumble with it, especially those with tiny hands or limited grip strength. I use most penis pumps with a single hand, but that was almost impossible with this model.

Why the Hydromax7 Wide-Boy is the largest penis pump:

We tested dozens of penis pumps, and none came close to the 7.5″ girth. Besides taking up to 7″ of penis length, the Wide-Boy’s massive body won’t have a problem swallowing up to 7.5″ of circumference.
