10 Best Penis Pumps in 2024, REALLY Tested! [Video Reviews]

Featured image

Contrary to popular belief, pumps are not just reserved for people with erectile dysfunction. More men are using them to draw blood into the penis and foster a rock-hard penis for satisfying and extended lovemaking. But which of the many products and brands should I buy?

After testing dozens of penis pumps, we recommend Bathmate Hydromax as a great place to start for anyone looking to remedy erectile dysfunction (ED) for a better sex life. The Hydromax lineup uses water, a better alternative to air because of the uniform suction pressure. Our testers appreciated that they’re available in five sizes, so everyone has something to use regardless of their dick size. They also reported that the silicone mouth did a great job creating a seal with the skin (better than the majority of the products), avoiding loss of suction and improving efficiency.

Key Takeaways

Test Winner: Bathmate Hydromax
Bathmate Hydromax7Our favorite penis pump is Bathmate Hydromax. It beat the competition for build quality, ease of use, comfort, and short/long-term results. There are also five different sizes to cater to everyone’s penis size, something we didn’t find among the competing brands.

Budget Pick: Tracey Cox EDGE
Tracey Cox EDGE Ultimate Performance Stamina Penis PumpFor $49.99, Tracey Cox is the most affordable penis pump. It has a stable body with an ABS plastic cylinder and silicone ring to retain the suction pressure and make the experience comfortable. It also scored a 5/5 rating for ease of use and safety.

Electric Pump: Lynk Excelsior
Excelsior Smart Automatic Penis PumpExcelsior by Lynk Pleasure is our preferred electric penis pump. The testers praised the smart memory mode (which remembers the last setting), an easy-to-read LCD screen, and the included stroker, all of which were better than the competition.

Why You Should Trust Us

Tim LarsonWith more than a decade of industry experience, few can match Tim Larson’s penis pump knowledge. Like most people, he admits it took a while to welcome the idea of using a professional penis pump “I started using sex toys during a time when the stigma was through the roof – sex pumps were a taboo.”

Besides going against what most people believed in and using the pumps, Tim started My Sex Toy Guide with Sandra to share their sex toy stories to inspire more people to explore uncharted grounds. He assembled a team of sex experts, researchers, technologists, and marketers to make the issues more representative. How We Picked the Products

I selected dozens of penis pumps for this review. I also assembled a team of sex experts (myself and Shane Davis) to test the pumps and report on their experiences. Before sending the team out for the 38-day exercise, I defined test criteria we could measure on a scale from 0 to 100. Some of these included the following:

  • Like sex toys, size is essential. After all, people are different, and what works for a 6″ penis size isn’t what will work for an 8″. So, we prioritized brands that sell up to 6 sizes for a single series.
  • Safety. More than anything else, your safety is integral to the pumping experience. The most effective penis pumps must have a safety mechanism to alter the suction pressure within seconds. therefore, all the models we reviewed had a quick-release valve that acts as your ’emergency button’ when you want out – whether you feel uncomfortable or achieve the maximum hard-on.
  • Ease of Use. How easy it is to handle the product is very important because it affects the results. Remember, we’re here for stronger and long-standing erections. For this reason, the highest-rated penis pumps should be easy to use so that the user only focuses on one thing –erections.
  • There are two design options – vacuum and hydro pumps. The former is more common in the market and relatively affordable. However, the latter is more effective because of the even suction distribution and ease of use. Some models, like the Bathmate Hydroextreme, combine vacuum and hydro designs, making for the most potent suction. As you’d expect, they’re more expensive but perfect for the more experienced folks. We included both options since they have their advantages and disadvantages.
  • Settings. For the vibrating penis pumps we reviewed, we ensured to pick the models with the most settings. A combination of numerous functions and an easy-to-use interface was a must.
  • Comfort. Comfort was an essential part of our self-testing exercise. You don’t want something uncomfortable on your groin – then you won’t use it as much.
  • We only reviewed penis pumps made from body-safe materials, like medical-grade silicone and ABS. We also prioritized those with outstanding build quality.

During testing, we rated each test criterion on a percentage scale from 0% (Worst) to 100% (Best). We then calculated the overall score using different weighted metrics depending on the importance of the test criteria. Half the total rating comes from Safety (25%) and Results (25%). After that comes Size (10%), Comfort (10%), Ease of Use (10%), and Build Quality (10%).

The team returned with the findings after an exciting 38-day excursion. I analyzed the reports using a comparison chart to identify the standout features. I also used information from forums and customer review sites. And after an 18-hour stint of deliberation and analysis, I believe these are this year’s best penis pumps.

Everything We Tested

In this chapter, you can see a comparison table with all the products we tested. As you can see, each row has the test criteria our team used during the testing. To make our testing process even more transparent, we also included the raw test data so you can see how the products performed with each test criteria.

1. Bathmate Hydromax Series: Our Test Winner!

Bathmate Hydromax7

Why we love the Bathmate Hydromax series:

The Bathmate Hydromax series performed best overall and is thus our test winner. One of the primary reasons was that it uses water, which, unlike air, produces more even suction pressure. The hydro pump minimizes compression to the penis, making the experience less strenuous on the penile tissues.

Another reason was that the Bathmate Hydromax series is available in multiple sizes and designs to ensure every penis owner had a way to get their member fired up and ready for action. These include the following:

  • Hydromax3 – up to 3″
  • Hydromax5 – up to 5″
  • Hydromax7 – 5 – 7″
  • Hydromax7 Wide-Boy – 5 – 7″ (up to 7.5″ of girth)
  • Hydromax9 – 7 – 9″

The measurement tape on the outside

We also appreciated the practical ruler on the transparent body, making it easy to see yourself grow and track the results over time. You can see the ruler in the image above. While other models have a ruler, we thought Hydromax had the best implementation and was the easiest to read.

Moving on to the build quality, where the Hydromax series stood out. “Initially, I was startled by the pricing, but it soon became justifiable when I held the penis pump”, our product tester Shane Davis wrote in his test report. “The plastic felt great to hold, and the different parts look and feel solid – you won’t have to worry about something breaking down. It was light and easy to use – lock the valve, remove the comfort pad, and fill the reservoir with water. Voila!” he continued.

The bottom of Hydromax7

So what about the results? Well, almost everyone agreed that the Hydromax 7 results stuck around longer than the other models we tested. “Even after having sex with Sandra, my penis looked and felt longer and bigger throughout the day – well, at least I didn’t need to use the penis water pump again for up to 8 hours”, our tester Tim Larson reported.

The pump was also easy to use. Our testers were especially delighted with the ease of use because the technology behind hydro pumps is outstanding. We also liked that the cylinder was easy to handle with one hand. More so, it’s compatible with the shower strap, allowing for hands-free pumping in the shower – it was an exciting combination. Overall, a solid design!

A view inside Hydromax7

Lastly, using the premium pump felt comfortable. Besides the cylinder you can hold with a single arm, we appreciated the rubber seal resting on the groin (image above). It felt great against the skin and prevented suction loss for quick and long-standing erections. Outstanding!

Pro Tip: Use warm water on the hydro pump. Unlike cold water, it relaxes the penile tissues, resulting in increased blood flow and stronger erections.

The content of the box

Minor issues we found during testing:

While the Hydromax series might be the quickest in promoting erections, long-term results take commitment and patience. If you want a one-time fix, you might have to look elsewhere.

The hydro pump line is comparatively expensive, and beginners or other people on a budget will find it too pricey.

Why the Hydromax series is our overall test winner:

The test panel rated the Hydromax series as the best penis pump for ED, giving it maximum points on different spectrums like build quality, ease of use, comfort, and short/long-term results. It scored the highest among the penis pumps we reviewed. Let’s look at the raw test data to see how we motivated our decision:

  • Results: The Hydromax series achieved the best short and long-term results among all the models we tested. I used the Hydromax 7 and started with a 3.9″ flaccid dick, a length that grew to 4.9″ in the first pumping session. The pump doesn’t just increase the length but also the girth. While you don’t expect permanent results with these pumps, I’ve noted long-term changes over the last two months. My penis has grown to 5.5″ in length and 4.9″ in circumference after each session.
  • Build Quality: Even with the plastic construction, we found the quality outstanding and the best among the penis pumps we reviewed, receiving an average rating of 95% in the Build Quality test criteria.
  • Safety: There are minimal moving parts, and every aspect felt sturdy, balancing the lightweight and stable features that rendered the hydro pump easy to handle and durable. All this made Hydromax the safest penis pump in our review.
  • Sizes: Something else that stood out and made the Hydromax series better than the other review samples was the variety. There are five different sizes to cater to everyone’s penis length and girth, something we didn’t find among the competing brands.

If you want to see what Bathmate Hydromax looks like and how to use it, please watch our unboxing and demonstration video below:

2. Tracey Cox EDGE: Our Budget Pick!

Tracey Cox EDGE Ultimate Performance Stamina Penis Pump

Why we love Tracey Cox EDGE:

Tracey Cox EDGE is our recommendation if you’re in the market for a budget-friendly model. It costs only $49.99, the lowest price for such a well-made penis vacuum pump. Most of the pumps we reviewed were well over the $100 mark, and even at half that price, Tracey Cox presented a formidable challenge, rubbing shoulders with some of the other quality products on the list.

My colleagues really felt that the vacuum pump was built to last. It has a well-thought-out and minimalistic design, with a silicone ring around the base to enhance suction pressure and ensure the contact with your groin feels comfortable. “I also loved the measurements on the tube because they made it easy to keep track of the gains. It was not as good as on Hydromax, but still decent enough for the majority of consumers”, Shane Davis pointed out.

The content of the box

Something else that we noted during the review was the ease of use. Although most people will need both hands to use it, unless you have massive hands as I do, the squeeze bulb (red circle) and quick-release valve (blue circle) make for a blissful experience.

They thought the squeeze bulb was well-measured to fit perfectly into the palm. It was easy to squeeze and only takes a few compressions to wake the penis. “As soon as I pressed three or four times, my penis started to amass its size. With a transparent cylinder, I could see the increasing length and girth (You can see me using the pump on a dildo in the below image)”, Tim Larson clarified.

Tracey Cox EDGE used on a dildo

Like other penis enlargement pumps, my dick didn’t get any more extensive in the long term. However, I realized I was getting hard more efficiently, even without the pump. I also thought the erections were much more robust and long-lasting.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, Tracey Cox EDGE is not the most travel-size pump we reviewed. It was undoubtedly more tedious to carry around when Sandra and I traveled, and storage was a headache.

While it might not be the most significant noise, Tracey Cox EDGE gives away some slurping noises, especially when the silicone ring comes into contact with lube.

Why Tracey Cox EDGE is our budget pick:

  • Results: Short-term gains were impressive. I saw immediate results, including firmer, girthier, and longer erections. The long-term results were even more impressive. After four weeks of regular pumping, I was harder than at the beginning. I loved it, and Sandra did too!
  • Price & Value: For $49.99, Tracey Cox is the best value pump you’ll see today (Average score: 94%). It certainly was the cheapest among the models we reviewed.
  • Material: It has a stable body with an ABS plastic cylinder and silicone ring at the base to retain the suction pressure and make the pumping experience comfortable.
  • Safety: Besides the materials, the test panel gave the vacuum device a 91% rating for ease of use and safety thanks to the easy-squeeze hand pump and quick-release valve.

  • Material: Silicone & ABS Plastic
  • Canal Diameter: 1.25″
  • Internal Length: 8.5″

Pros:

  • An excellent choice for men looking for an affordable pump.
  • The easy-squeeze hand pump makes it easy to handle.
  • Solid ABS cylinder with a silicone ring.
  • It has a quick-release valve for security.
  • More rigid and long-lasting erections over time.

Cons:

  • It makes mild slurping sounds.
  • Tracy Cox EDGE is cumbersome.

3. Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure: Highest-Rated Electric Model!

Excelsior Smart Automatic Penis Pump

Why we love Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure:

Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure is the preferred choice if you’re looking for hands-free, laid-back penis pumping. The minimalistic, transparent design features an electric pump that induces suction with the press of a button. The team thought the design was solid and the results decent, placing it above all other electric models on this list.

Let’s start talking about the intelligent smart memory mode. It remembers your preferred settings, so you don’t have to fumble every time you use Excelsior. If you want to change something, the standard auto mode makes it easy to regulate the pleasure levels in the cylinder and the time you enjoy a specific setting. The automatic pump even has a backlit LCD screen (image below) with battery level, timer, air pressure, and pumping level, among other information, to help customize the experience.

Closeup of the LCD screen

Like other pumps we reviewed, Excelsior had a pump sleeve at the bottom. The silicone-made ring makes the cylinder more comfortable on the groin and maintains the suction pressure inside the reservoir.

We also rated Excelsior as the “Most Versatile” model on this list. It has a Real Skin stroker sleeve (image below), adding male masturbation capabilities to the penis pump. The sleeve did a decent job simulating oral stimulation and enhanced the experience – a different but enjoyable design choice!

Excelsior cock pump and the sleeve

We also found it easy to use with a readable LCD and straightforward icons for different functions. Whether it’s the cloud-like air-release button or smart memory toggle that looks like a clock, everyone thought it was easy to use right out of the box.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, the Excelsior is not entirely waterproof. This might not be an issue for most people, but if you like having sex in the shower, stepping out for a quick pump will be ‘too much work.’

The stroker sleeve is made from TPE, a porous material that’s not ideal. Besides being more tedious to clean and dry, it’s not the most durable.

Why Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure is the best electric penis pump:

The smart memory mode was a significant factor that made Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure the most recommended among the electric products we reviewed. Like other masturbators, everyone has a favorite setting, and returning to a pattern with the touch of a button is a big plus in our book. I would liken it to the feeling of finding the perfect porn video on the hub’s landing page. Let’s see what else the test reports said:

  • Ease of Use: Something else the reviewers fell in love with was the easy-to-read LCD that shows the air pressure, battery, and pumping level, for easy customizing.
  • Stimulations: We loved the included feel stroker. The squishy TPE sleeve might not be textured, but it simulates oral sex, making the penis pump more than a boner-inducing apparatus. We reviewed dozens, but Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure was up with the most versatile models.

If you want to see what Excelsior by Lynk Pleasure looks like and how to use it, please watch our unboxing and demonstration video below:

  • Material: Silicone & ABS Plastic
  • Cylinder Width: 2.6″
  • Cylinder Length: 9″
  • Sleeve Width: 3″
  • Sleeve Length: 5.25″

Pros:

  • A well-thought-out design.
  • Transparent cylinder with measurements on the side.
  • The silicone ring maintains the suction pressure.
  • Its stroker sleeve simulates oral sex.
  • No manual hand pumping.
  • Easy-to-use touch controls with a backlit LCD.

Cons:

  • Excelsior isn’t entirely waterproof.
  • Its stroker is too short for most people.

4. Bathmate Hydr0Xtreme Series: Most Powerful!

Bathmate HydroXtreme

Why we love the Bathmate HydroXtreme series:

The Bathmate HydroXtreme series is the most powerful penis pump on this list. Unlike the Hydromax line, the pump has a hand squeeze pump, adding up to 35% more suction power, a significant addition to an already powerful hydro pump.

The team is more familiar with Hydromax 7, but its HydroXtreme cousin was a thing of beauty. Adding a hand pump (circled below) was a game changer, making it perfect for the most experienced folks looking to kickstart and maintain longer and stronger erections. With a hydro-power design, HydroXtreme draws even suction for increased length and girth. However, we think beginners should start with a less powerful model first.

The content of the box

Away from the powerful suction, the Bathmate HydroXtreme series is available in six sizes so that every man can experience the bulk. These include the following:

  • HydroXtemre3 – up to 3
  • HydroXtreme5 – up to 5″
  • HydroXtreme7 – 5 – 7″
  • HydroXtreme7 Wide-Boy – 5 – 7″ (up to 7.5″ of girth)
  • HydroXtreme9 – 7 – 9″
  • HydroXtreme11 – over 9″

The variety makes it easy to match your sexual desires with the right penis pump. “I thought it was incredible to provide multiple sizes because, like sex toys, too small or too big doesn’t work”, our product tester Tim Larson emphasized.

HydroXtreme's ruler

We also liked the transparent cylinder, which, unlike the opaque ones, lets you witness as your member bulges. The ruler on the body (image above) was a nice design choice, but I had some issues with it. More on that below.

Something else that stuck out to me was the longevity of the results. Besides getting a hard-on quickly, I noted that it took at least 8 hours before I needed to use the HydroXtreme pump again. More importantly, the subsequent erections were much more robust and long-lasting.

Bathmate HydroXtreme

While I could hold the pump with a single hand, most people will have to use both to position it, at least before pumping away. Overall, the user experience was positive, and the hydro pump was among the easiest-to-use pumps I’ve used over the years.

Minor issues we found during testing:

The ruler doesn’t give accurate readings, and I see it more as a guide. The silicon suction entry is very flexible. Hence the cylinder will never be positioned the same way as it compresses differently each time. The ruler also doesn’t start at zero (say what!?) but a few inches up. It’s no major flaw, but please keep this in mind.

It’s also not the easiest penis pump to use, and it definitely has a learning curve. At first, it felt like it was a juggling act since there were so many parts to keep track of. But it got much easier after a week of regular use, and I got everything set up in a few seconds.

Why the HydroXtreme series is the most powerful penis pump:

Of the dozens of pumps we tested, HydroXtreme was the most powerful. Hence, it’s perfect for people who wish to get the quickest results. But we still think the Hydromax series deserves a higher ranking because it’s more affordable and less complicated while still giving you the same results (albeit slightly slower).

  • Results: The girth increased by 0.2 inches after the first week and kept growing with regular use. I also noticed my erections becoming firmer. I felt like a teenager again as they popped up at a moment’s notice! Two thumbs up from wifey!
  • Power: Including a hand pump was a game changer for the HydroXtreme series. It adds about 35% more suction to an already powerful hydro penis pump. The review panel was unanimous with the 95% rating, placing HydroXtreme at the pinnacle of the most potent pumps we reviewed.
  • Comfort: Something else that stood out was the silicone rim at the bottom. Like the Hydromax 7, it made the experience more comfortable, as having a plastic cylinder on my groin would have been unpleasant. More importantly, it created a seal between the pump and the skin, so the suction pressure doesn’t leak.
  • Sizes: With up to 6 different sizes, there’s no way we would leave out this powerhouse. The high-quality pump combines power with versatility and variety, providing short-term and long-term benefits to penis owners.

If you want to see what Bathmate HydroXtreme looks like and how to use it, please watch our unboxing and demonstration video below:

You can read our Bathmate HydroXtreme review in this article.

Features:

  • Material: Silicone & ABS Plastic
  • Size (erect length): 3 – 11″

Pros:

  • The most potent hydro pump series.
  • Sturdy ABS material with a silicone ring.
  • Easy to use for beginners and experienced folks.
  • There are multiple sizes to choose from.
  • A transparent cylinder lets you see as the penis increases in length and girth.

Cons:

  • It’s expensive.
  • Requires regular use to maintain gains.
  • There is no pressure gauge making it possible to have too much pressure.
  • The measuring sticker on the pump is unreliable.
  • You need to keep your pubes trimmed or shaved.
  • It feels weird at first.

5. Bathmate Hydro Series: Beginner-Friendly

Bathmate Hydro

Why we love the Bathmate Hydro series:

The Hydro series is perfect for beginners mostly because of the more forgiving suction and the easy-to-use controls. I would say it falls somewhere below the Hydromax and HydroXtreme series in suction power and complexity, making it a great entry model for those new to penis pumps.

Like the Max and Extreme series, the Hydro line uses water, which we believe is better than the air pumps. Besides providing even suction distribution, the pump is much gentler, an essential feature for beginners.

Bathmate Hydro 7

Something that stood out was how easy it was to use the pump. “It doesn’t have a squeezer ball like the Hydroextreme series, freeing your hands to focus on other parts of your body, like the balls, to make the process much quicker and more exciting. The cylinder accommodates 5″ – 7″ dicks, a decent size range for most people”, Shane Davis wrote in the report.

My colleagues also liked how stable the ABS-made pump felt. It has few moving parts and could last for years with minimal maintenance. A special shoutout to the silicone flaps at the bottom (image below) which felt great on the groin. The squishy, foldable design makes the experience more comfortable, as you can exert pressure on the pump without worrying about breaking the vacuum seal.

Closeup of the silicone comfort pad

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, the Hydro pump is only available in a single size, which was a bummer considering other series included 5 or 6 sizes catering to different people. Some reviewers also argued the $110 pricing was steep for a ‘beginner’ penis pump.

Why the Hydro series is the most beginner-friendly penis pump:

As mentioned earlier, the Hydro pump falls below the extreme and max series in terms of power. But it’s not as weak as you might think. While you for sure will feel the difference between the two other series, it has a gentle suction consistency that’ll excite any beginner, making it a great first penis pump. In addition, it performed very well in the following categories:

  • Ease of Use: My colleagues pointed out how easy it was to use the Hydro pump, commending the designers for not including the hand pump in the extreme series. “While the pump might be a great addition for power, it complicates handling, which is the last thing a beginner penis pump user wants,” one tester pointed out.
  • Comfort: The body-hugging silicone ring at the base got a lot of praise in the reports, emphasizing its relevance to a beginner user’s experience.

  • An ideal choice for beginners.
  • Stable silicone and ABS materials.
  • It’s easy to use.
  • The transparent cylinder is suitable for visual kinksters.
  • It accommodates 5″ – 7″ penises.

Cons:

  • It’s only available in one size.
  • Hydro is not the most affordable model we reviewed.

6. Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy: Best For Larger Men!

Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy

Why we love the Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy:

The Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy is a good choice for well-endowed guys. Besides accommodating 5″ – 7″ penises, it has a maximum circumference of 7.5″, making it perfect for men with long and wide members.

Notably, the Hydromax series lies in the middle of the Hydro and Hydroextreme series. It packs enough power for the most experienced user and is adequately sized to match the suction pressure.

I’m not the girthiest, but my colleagues sang praises for the big boy. “I’ve struggled to get a penis pump that can hold my penis inside without feeling constricted, and the Hydromax7 Wide-Boy is the only one that did it.” Another stressed that he always had to eject from the pump before full erection to avoid ‘getting stuck,’ but he didn’t have to anymore with the Wide-Boy.

As you’d expect, Wide-Boy is massive, and you’ll need both hands. I pride myself in being able to use one hand with the penis pumps, but I couldn’t with the Wide-Boy. Thankfully, it has no squeeze bulb, so I didn’t have to fumble with one arm.

Among the dozens of penis pumps we reviewed, Bathmate Hydromax7 Wide-Boy stood out as the most accommodative. While it’s not most guys with a 7.5″ wide penis, the few love it when a product isn’t discriminative. With a silicone base like other Bathmate pumps and a transparent cylinder with measurements inscribed on the sides so you can keep up with the gains, I loved every bit of the ride.

Unlike most penis pumps, the benefits of using Hydromax7 Wide-Boy are carried along throughout the day. The brand says 24 hours, but my erections were more complex and long-lasting for about 8 hours of initial use.

Minor issues we found during testing:

It might not be the most expensive, but it isn’t affordable. It costs $159, which might be off-putting for most people, especially those new to hydro penis pumps.

The Wide-Boy’s a little bigger; most people will fumble with it, especially those with tiny hands or limited grip strength. I use most penis pumps with a single hand, but that was almost impossible with this model.

Why the Hydromax7 Wide-Boy is the largest penis pump:

We tested dozens of penis pumps, and none came close to the 7.5″ girth. Besides taking up to 7″ of penis length, the Wide-Boy’s massive body won’t have a problem swallowing up to 7.5″ of circumference.

  • Ease of Use: While the large body complicates handling a little, it was a relief to colleagues who couldn’t enjoy having a full-on erection in the regular cylinders.
  • Size: The panel hailed the size, terming it the most oversized hydro pump they’ve reviewed. With even suction from water, a silicone mouth, and a stable ABS body, Wide-Boy looks as glamorous as it felt.

Features:

  • Material: Silicone & ABS Plastic
  • Size (erect length): 3 – 9″

Pros:

  • A well-made ABS and silicone penis pump.
  • The hydro design promotes even suction distribution.
  • A silicone mouth enhances the user’s comfort.
  • There are multiple color options.
  • An easy-to-use build.

Cons:

  • It’s not cheap – $159.
  • Handling is complicated because of the wider body.

7. Bathmate Hydromax3: Best for Micropenis!

Bathmate Hydromax3

Why we love the Bathmate Hydromax3:

The Bathmate Hydromax3 is our favorite model for people with below-average penises. It houses up to 3″ in length, making it the smallest penis pump we reviewed. The hydro pump is easy to use, and the water promotes even suction pressure, making the experience enjoyable for the user. More importantly, I found the pump small enough for people with the tiniest hands.

Two colleagues tested it, and the response was positive. They described it as the most effective penis pump for anyone with a <3″ penis. “It felt like I’d been wearing the old-school baggy jeans and T-shirts, and finally, I got to wear something fitting.”

The combination of small size, hydro design, and lightweight design makes for the right pumping experience for any person with a micropenis.

I also loved Hydromax3’s build quality. The entire cylinder is made from sturdy ABS plastic, with a silicone ring at the bottom. Both materials are body-safe, durable, and relatively low maintenance. And although the $129 pricing wasn’t the most affordable among the penis pumps we reviewed, it’s justifiable, considering the build quality.

My colleagues found the results quick and long-lasting. It only takes a few seconds to get a flaccid penis fully erect. More importantly, after the initial use, you can expect longer and stronger erections throughout the day, even without using a penis pump.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, the Bathmate Hydromax3 costs $129, a considerably high price for a 3″ penis pump. Of course, pricey is relative, but most people will still find it steep for their pumping routine.

Hydromax3 is only ideal for people with a micro penis. Anything more than 3″ will be too much.

Why the Hydromax3 is our favorite for micro penises:

  • Design: What we loved the most about the Hydromax3 was the lightweight design that makes it easy for people with small hands – I’d like to believe the hands are relative to the member.
  • Build Quality: The reviewers gave it a 91% rating for the build quality and ease of use, terming it the easiest-to-handle hydro pump. Other impressive features included the transparent cylinder, measurements inscription, and silicone mouth.

Features:

  • Material: Silicone & ABS Plastic
  • Size (erect length): 3″

Pros:

  • A sturdy silicone body is reliable and durable.
  • It has a lightweight and easy-to-handle build.
  • The measuring gauge on the side makes it easy to keep up with the gains.
  • Multiple colors.

Cons:

  • It’s not cheap -$129.
  • Anyone with a 3″ and above member will have to look elsewhere.

Other Good Alternatives

Lovehoney Pumped Up is the ideal option if you want vibrations. The 7-function vibrating vacuum pump has a bullet vibe with 3 speeds and 4 patterns of vibration. I loved the 7.5″ internal length and 1″ canal diameter because they render the pump ideal for most sizes. The pump’s easy-squeeze design makes it foolproof, while the quick-release valve enhances safety. Honestly, the vibrations weren’t as impactful to the experience, but they added a tingly sensation that got more serious as the dick got bigger and more sensitive.

Fleshlight Fleshpump is another automatic penis pump for those looking to maximize the strength and endurance of their erections. Some of the standout features included the USB-rechargeable design, meaning you can start pumping anywhere, and the 2-button interface that significantly simplifies the experience. The testers also noted the removable design for simplifying cleaning and the squishy material around the mouth because it made the experience much more comfortable.

LA Pump Premium Penis Pump Kit is an ideal penis pump for beginners and more advanced users. It boasts a mighty suction power, a transparent, handmade acrylic cylinder, and a pressure meter. The well-made pump has a brass body with 2-foot-long vinyl tubing so you or your partner can regulate the suction pressure comfortably. Unfortunately, the cylinder’s base is made from acrylic and not silicone like most pumps we reviewed. While it wasn’t as uncomfortable as anticipated, a squishy material would have been better.

What is a Penis Pump?

A penis pump is a vacuum tube with a pumping feature that helps men achieve harder and longer erections. They are commonly used to help men with Erectile Dysfunction (ED). Many guys prefer a penis pump because it has none of the side effects of ED medications.

Do Penis Pumps Work?

A penis pump will draw blood into your penis, making it hard and look bigger. Consequently, it’s an excellent tool for treating Erectile Dysfunction (ED). But the results are temporary, and using them for permanent penis enlargement will not work. I talk more about this in my guide about permanent gains from pumping.

How Does A Penis Pump Work?

Most dick pumps consist of a cylinder, a base (seal or ring) to fit over your dick, and a pumping mechanism (electric or manual).

  • The base has a stretchy constriction ring where your penis slides into the cylinder. The skin-tight ring attaches to your skin to create a vacuum seal throughout the cylinder. Most bases have non-porous Silicone.
  • The cylinder makes up the majority of the device’s body. Most manufacturers use polycarbonate, which is resilient and durable. It also makes the cylinders transparent. They vary in size, and most come with a measurement gauge to easily track your gains.
  • The pump is where the magic happens. Whether you’re using water or air, the pump creates a specified vacuum pressure around your penis to draw blood in and encourage harder and longer erections.

What Are The Different Types I Can Buy?

There are four main types of penis pumps;

1. Air-Based Models

Air-based pumps incorporate an airtight cylinder with a rubbery end on one side and a one-way valve attached to a pump on the other. They are the most basic and cheapest products.

The Air Pump can be automatic or manual, depending on your preference, but both work by sucking out air to create a vacuum in the cylinder.

There are numerous design tweaks that manufacturers have been employing over the years to elevate your Air Pump experience. From handball squeezers and safety pressure valves to transparent cylinders and handball squeezers, these models are more convenient than ever.

However, you must be keen when using an air pump because it doesn’t give haptic feedback, and overdoing it can cause blisters or other injuries.

2. Water-Based Models

Typical water pumps have a cylinder, a bellow-like gaiter, and a safety valve. Once you fill the chamber with water and push your penis into it, an airtight seal is created as you push the chamber onto the pubic bone.

The gaiter creates an air seal at the point of contact and occasions a back-and-forth movement. Then, as your penis enlarges, water is pushed out of the chamber, creating a vacuum. The vacuum causes a widening of the blood vessels for easier blood flow.

Unlike an air pump, you can feel the erection hardness from the haptic feedback dispensed by the water. This way, you’re always in control of your erections, reducing the risk of  injury.

3. Manual Models

There are numerous manual pumps on the market, and it’s not hard to see why people are still clinging to them. Most manual pump models have either a handball pump or a trigger pump.

A manual pump

I have both manual and automatic pumps, but I mostly go for the former. I find them more ‘powerful’ because my hand is doing the pumping. Also, using a manual penis pump is convenient because you can regulate the vacuum suction by controlling the pressure exerted by your hands.

While most people go for automatic devices because of their ‘hands-free’ quality, some friends complained they often find it hard to get up to full pressure with automatic pumps.

4. Electric Models

Electric penis pumps are the easiest to use because they don’t require manual stroking. Some models are battery-powered, while others are USB rechargeable.

Excelsior electric pump

Instead of using your hands to move the cylinder against your pubic bone, electric penis pumps have a motor that does the work for you. They are faster than their manual counterparts and are adorned with cut-off mechanisms to prevent injuries from over-pumping.

However, they are a bit expensive, but their functionality is worth the surcharge.

How Should I Choose The Right Product?

There are numerous products on the market, and choosing a decent male enhancement device can be overwhelming. So, what makes up an ideal penis pump? Here are some of the tips to help you pick the suitable device for your needs;

1. Water vs. Air Pumps

When choosing between a water pump and an air pump, personal needs and preferences determine what works for you.

However, a water penis pump is way more effective than the latter. And why is this the case? Well, they create a uniform vacuum pressure around the penis because there are no air pockets. This way, your penis enlarges evenly in what is seen as a more natural way to stimulate an erection.

Moreover, water provides haptic feedback, giving you more control and significantly reducing the risk of injuries.

On the other hand, air-based pumps are effective and straightforward in spurring erections. And while they lack haptic feedback, they are still the most popular globally.

2. Manual vs. Automatic Pumps

As stressed earlier, automatic penis pumps are convenient because they eliminate tedious manual stroking. These models free up your hands and let you concentrate on other areas, especially if using them during foreplay.

On the other hand, manual penis pumps provide stronger pressure, making them popular among legendary vacuum erection pump users. They might be tedious, especially if you use them for longer periods, but a manual pump still has much to offer.

Pro Tip: Today, there are even some vibrating penis pump models on the market.

3. The Size

Unbeknownst to many, there are different sizes on the market, and most manufacturers have many models, each targeting a specific demographic. So, make sure you measure your penis length and girth when shopping for a cock pump. Trust me. The last thing you want is to discover your penis can’t move around comfortably inside.

A good rule of thumb is to leave 2 inches above the top of the penis head and 0.5 inches on each side of your erect penis.

Pro Tip: Bathmate has a handy tool to help you pick a suitable size.

4. Price Ranges

Like all other male sexual aids, penis pumps vary in pricing. Different types, brands, and sizes have different price tags, and your budget will determine how far you can go. The cheapest models can be as low as $20, while the most expensive ones can be over $300.

I recommend considering the material and usability when determining how much to fork out. And remember, you always get what you pay. So, it’s far better to spend a few dollars more for a high-quality device than to settle for a horrendous bargain.

5. Safety

Most manufacturers use silicone and other body-safe materials for the sleeves and polycarbonate for the cylinder. Both quality materials are hypoallergenic and durable, making such penis pumps safe. So, check that your erection pump has skin-safe materials before purchasing.

In addition, you need to ensure the product has safety features such as a limiter, pressure gauge, and a quick-release valve.

Are Penis Pumps Safe?

Yes, penis pumps are safe when used correctly. Every manufacturer has its usage recommendations, but the universal rule remains that you use the device 3-5 times/week & 3 reps each time.

Also, do erection training gradually, especially if you’re a beginner, and don’t be afraid to use the quick-release button when you need to release pressure and take a break (we all do). Please keep in mind that overusing and over-pumping may cause penile tissue damage or skin irritation.

Note: A vacuum model might be unsafe for people with sickle cell anemia and other blood disorders that make you susceptible to blood clots or bleeding. Consult with your healthcare provider if you’re unsure!

How To Use A Penis Pump?

Note: Penis pumps are advanced sex toys, and you must take great care when using them. Any action you take upon the information on this website is strictly at your own risk, and we will not be liable for any losses, injuries, and damages. Learn more.

Like most sexual wellness accessories, a penis enlargement pump can be uncomfortable and inhibited the first time. However, the device is relatively easy to use, and you’ll get used to it faster than you think.

Here are a few steps on how to use them properly;

A man holding a lube bottle

  1. Before first use, please familiarize yourself with the product and its safety features, like the quick-release valve.
  2. Lubricate your flaccid penis with water-based lube.
  3. Place your penis at the cylinder opening.
  4. Pump on and watch as your flaccid penis gets drawn inside the tube.
  5. Pump on slowly until your penis is perfectly erect (for hydro penis pumps, you’ll have to pump on until the water stops escaping from the end).
  6. Once erect, press the quick-release valve and enjoy your engorged penis.

Pro Tip: Shave or trim your pubic hair to achieve an air-tight seal. Thank me later!

Which position is the best? Well, you can use them both while standing and lying down. Our favorite places are standing in the shower or lying in  a bathtub (non-electric devices, of course.)

But Why Should I Use One?

  • Increased Sexual Stamina. These vacuum constriction devices spur larger and harder erections for more fulfilling sex with your partner. The pump creates a vacuum around your penis, dilating the veins and drawing blood in, promoting penis health. This way, your penis becomes rock solid and, in turn, increases your stamina between the sheets.
  • It may Improve Erectile Function. Consistent pumping could help you regain an erection, mainly when used with other treatment plans.
  • Many men enjoy the feeling; hence you can use it during masturbation or foreplay with your girlfriend or boyfriend.

Alternative ED Methods

Common alternatives to penis pumps include the following:

Penis sleeve/Penis Extender – Unlike pumps, sleeves work by increasing the length and circumference of your penis ‘manually’ without the need to draw blood from the penis. While the former has long-standing benefits like stronger and long-standing erections even without the pump, penis sleeves are a quick fix with the present in mind – no long-term benefits. Penis sleeves are more affordable than the pumps and are relatively easier to use –slip it over your penis and enjoy an immediate bulge. You can read more about penis sleeves here.

Cock rings – Cock rings are an inexpensive option for people who can’t sustain erections. In fact, they can complement penis pumps by withholding the blood in your member for long-standing erections. Like penis sleeves, they’re easy to use as you only have to roll one over your erect dick. You can read more about cock rings here.

Medications – ED treatment options include medicine. Some of the standard medications include avanafil (Stendra), sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra). Medicine is usually the last resort; you must consult a healthcare professional to decide what’s the right strategy for your unique case. Overall, the pills block PDE5, the enzyme responsible for ED, while helping to improve blood flow.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What Does a Penis Pump Do?

A male penis pump creates suction pressure inside the cylinder to draw blood into the penis and promote an erection for improved sexual performance. Because of the resulting blood volume, they enable long-lasting and firmer erections, improving sensitivity and elevating the quality of penetrative sex.

How Long Does a Penis Pump Last?

A penile pump can last forever, depending on how well you care for it. Most are made from silicone and ABS materials, with minimal maintenance requirements.

What Does a Penis Pump Look Like?

A penis pump looks like a classic masturbator with a penis-enclosing cylinder, a squeeze bulb for a vacuum type, and a water outlet valve for a hydro model.

How much is a penis pump?

A quality pump, like Hydromax 7, will cost around $150. Air pumps are a bit cheaper, and you can find some for $50 on Lovehoney.

What does a penis pump feel like?

This is how our reviewer, Tim described the feeling in his Hydromax 7 review: “Initially, the feeling was quite odd. Not uncomfortable or painful, but just a bit weird. However, after using the pump for a few days, I was totally used to the pressure feeling.”

How often can you use a penis pump?

As with everything, beginners should start slow, and I recommend not using it more than once daily. But with experience, you can use dick pumpers more often, and some men can safely use them several daily. That said, you should listen to your body when to stop or take a break.

How to clean a penis pump?

Cleaning a penis pump is straightforward; you can use mild soap and warm water. Afterward, dry it with a towel or let it air dry. Store it in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
