As with everything, there’s a spectrum regarding how much folks like or don’t like semen. But those with a cum fetish would be at the top of that bell curve. They may become hyper-focused on semen, which may lead to them purposefully creating sexual experiences focusing on semen and having semen play a prominent role in their fantasies and sexual explorations.
Many people in this group are aroused by a less common way of interacting with semen (for example, eating semen, cooking with semen, etc.) Perhaps because folks that enjoy semen more typically (enjoying giving blow jobs, etc.) may not identify with having a semen fetish, as semen is a normal part of many sexual encounters.

What is a Cum Fetish?
A cum fetish is being sexually aroused by semen. Similar to enjoying a nice butt or chiseled abs, having an affinity towards semen is relatively common. Many enjoy being covered in cum, swallowing cum, having cum inside, and even eating their own cum. Some people are enticed by the way semen looks when it ejects itself from a penis. Others love its warmth and how it feels on their body. While others still love the salty taste of it.
For some, it’s not the semen that’s arousing but what it represents. Semen is the closest we have to a physical manifestation of pleasure, so watching it get released or helping facilitate that kind of erotic pleasure can be very thrilling.
There are many ways someone with a cum fetish may explore their desires. They may receive sexual satisfaction from bukkake when a group of people masturbate and ejaculate on a person. Others may be more into gokkun, a sexual activity where someone consumes the semen of one or more people from a cup or other device.
Dr. Mark Griffiths shared a quote from a self-identified semen fetishist who shared:
“I have come to terms with the fact that I have a semen fetish. This manifests itself in many ways. Obviously, it’s important in my sex life. My current girlfriend is quite open-minded, so she doesn’t have a problem with facials and swallowing. She is also open to some semen play, for example, drinking it from a spoon or a wine glass. I have dozens of other semen-related fantasies that I want to try out, too. Another manifestation of this fetish is my taste in porn. It’s almost exclusively semen-related movies that I watch because they are the biggest turn-on for me. I mostly watch bukkake, gokkun, and regular facial movies.”
When is it a problem?
Although most people who explore this fetish do it consensually, there are occasionally people who take their affinity towards semen too far.
For example, a case study examined a man who smeared semen on his wounds when in prison for relief (as was apparently commonplace). However, he developed a strong desire for semen when he left prison. And he was eventually caught buying semen from an underage boy to rub on his genitals for sexual gratification.
For many, a fetish develops through a traumatic or exciting incident. If the semen helped relieve this man’s wounds, he might have generalized that positive association to engaging in semen in other ways. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to engage with semen in any way, but having consent from a partner who is of age is essential!
How common is a semen fetish?
Justin Lehmiller did a survey exploring the most common fantasies, and he specifically asked people about body fluids. He found that:
- 45% of men and 35% of women fantasize about spit.
- 31% of men and 14% of women fantasize about breast milk.
- 32% of men and 15% of women fantasize about urine.
- And 6% of men and 2% of women fantasize about scat.
Interestingly, in this study, he did not look explicitly at semen. I believe it’s because enjoying cum to some degree is a prevalent fetish, so the number would be pretty high.
The definition of fetish is an affinity towards something that most people don’t sexualize. As a result, most people don’t connect the word fetish with semen if they enjoy a nice load from time to time.
Another study of homosexual Australian men aimed to investigate their feelings towards semen:
- The smell of semen turned on 30.4% of men, and 37.3% found the smell either not at all or not very arousing.
- Regarding taste, 41.1% of men found semen to be fairly or very exciting, and 34.1% found it not at all or not very exciting.
- When it comes to the feel of semen on their skin, more than half of respondents reported that it was either fairly or very sexually stimulating.
- The most arousing was how semen looked on themselves or their partners, with 64.6% of men finding it either fairly or very exciting.
- This study also found that an affinity towards cum play was associated with lower condom use and other safe sex practices.
As far as I know, a study hasn’t been done to explore women’s arousal toward semen. And unless we are discussing sexual dysfunction, there is no measure to differentiate those who have a semen fetish and those who enjoy a nice load from time to time.
Why do people have a semen fetish?
There are a ton of logical reasons for people to enjoy cum. One of the most obvious reasons is that cum manifests sexual pleasure. When people are cumming they are usually having a good time, which is something we want from our sexual partners and ourselves.
Indeed, research shows you produce more semen when you are more aroused. A study analyzed ejaculates through masturbating to erotic films.
- When men were exposed to the same woman six times, there was no change in the ejaculate volume of each exposure.
- However, ejaculate volume and sperm released significantly increased when the video had a novel woman, and the time it took to ejaculate decreased, signifying increased excitement.
The same fellow with a cum fetish from Dr. Mark Griffith’s quote above shared:
Perhaps the fact I like to see girls covered in sperm has more to do with my own desire for women to accept my own semen. I’ve thought that through a lot, and it seems likely. Humans tend to associate the face with identity. And I think, on some level, men associate their semen with their personal manhood and identity. To have a girl let you shoot semen onto her face is a symbolic act of acceptance of your identity. There’s almost certainly a domination aspect to the act, too.
Indeed, many may enjoy the power component of having partners take their cum. When exploring the evolutionary lens, semen is also the juice that creates life, so it makes sense that the life-giving serum would turn women on.
Semen is also highly fetishized in mainstream porn. There are complications of cum shots, creampies, bukkake, and facials, and in many films, the moment that the scene is leading to is the cum shot.
It’s so common that kinky people sometimes go through videos and tag when a momentous moment occurs. As a result, children watching porn at a young age, even when they aren’t yet able to cum themselves, may hypersexualize the anticipated release.
On Quora, someone with a cum eating fetish shared:

During the interview phase for my book, I encountered someone with a fetish for eating his cum. When discussing his first experience, he shared:
I remember it like yesterday. I started rubbing my palm on my head faster and faster till, whoa, a rush like I had never felt gripped me. It was so warm, tingly, and nice that I just went, wow, I love it! And after a little bit, I realized I just saw something shoot up in the air from myself doing that?? I’m going, what was that? Oh, it felt so good.
He goes on to share that he showed his friend what he could do, and although his friend was not yet able to ejaculate, this experience started his fascination with cum.
How can I explore my cum fetish?
As with all fetishes, there are several exciting ways to explore it. A great way to start is to spend some time exploring your desires and fantasizing. For example, you may create erotic scenarios you think about while you masturbate or consume porn or sexy stories that explore your cum fetish.
