If you know me, you know I love to unbox a LELO toy (read all my LELO reviews here). They are simply the best. As you can see in the below image, even this tiny little lipstick vibe comes with a satin storage pouch, an abbreviated instruction manual, a warranty registration card, and a sample packet of lube. Everything I want and everything I need!
The included manual is essentially a list created by their lawyer of scenarios to avoid. Go to the LELO website to read the full MIA 3 manual instead. In that manual, I was tickled to find the recommendation to use your clitoris “wisely, often, and with care.” I also giggled when I read the advice to “consult your healthcare provider with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your condition.” What exactly is my condition? Horny? Ready to go? They caught me: I’ve never told my doctor about how turned on I am, and I’m probably not going to start now. Other than those two mentions, the manual was straightforward and uncomplicated.
The MIA 3 doesn’t come with a recharging cable because it doesn’t need one! Nestled into the lipstick cap is the USB plug that you can charge nearly anywhere, like the USB socket on your computer (if you have one).

How Do I Use the LELO MIA 3?
After you unbox this vibrator, charge it. The first time may take longer than all following charges, but the website estimated that, in general, the MIA 3 will take up to two hours to charge and then last up to ninety minutes. When I tested it, it lasted well over five hours on the first setting and then took under two hours to charge. It has a much more impressive battery-life-to-charge ratio than the website implies.
To charge the MIA 3, remove the lipstick cap. Ensure that there isn’t anything wet on it like lube, water, or bodily fluids before plugging into a USB charging port. The LED light blinks while it charges and will stay lit once it has finished. The light also blinks to let you know when the battery is about to die. Handy!
Next, grab some water-based lubricant (whatever you do, don’t use silicone-based lube, as you’ll mar the body-safe surface) and put it on the tip of the bullet vibrator and your clit. Place the rounded end of the vibrator near your clit, and then try all the settings and intensities until your body selects a fave.
The MIA 3 comes travel-locked. Plugging it in or holding the plus and minus button for three seconds will unlock it. You operate the product by using its two-button interface, the plus and minus buttons. A brief press of the plus button turns the vibrator on. Double-clicking the plus or minus buttons will take you through the eight modes. Here comes the confusing part: a brief press of the minus button on level one turns the toy off; on any other level, you’ll have to press the minus for a longer period. To access the patterns, press the plus button briefly twice at any intensity.
After use, wash the vibrator and dry it with a lint-proof towel. If you’re like me, you’ll also charge it so that you don’t run out of battery next time. Lastly, store it in the satin storage bag it comes with and keep it out of the sunlight.
My Personal Experience
It might depress you to know how much I look forward to testing lipstick vibrators. They’re basic. They’re the grilled cheese of sex toys, and yet they have my heart. How many have I tried? I don’t know, maybe a jillion. How many do I want to try? All of them; one jillion more. When I die, please bring the newest iterations of lipstick vibes to lay at the headstone of my grave. It’s what I would have wanted.
So, though I have lipstick vibrators coming out of my ears, I was legitimately eager to try the new LELO MIA 3. I was waiting for the package to arrive; it felt like Christmas in the fall. And then I ripped open the package and tried it and immediately fell in love all over again. Lipstick vibrators are just good at what they do, and what they do is get me off in a hurry.

I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t dig in the tip of the pointy vibrator like I usually like to since I am a pinpoint stimulation kind of person. The rounded end doesn’t feel like quite the right shape to fit a buzzy lipstick vibe, and it’s not big enough to give that all-over broad stimulation that you might feel while using a wand vibrator. I feel like giving the light stimulations a precision point to accentuate them would have felt better, but other people may disagree.
The buttons are hard to find especially in the dark and particularly as you’re nearing climax. Finding them by feel is nearly impossible, and I had to turn the lights on in the middle of masturbating because I’m someone who likes to amp up the intensity as I get closer. Making these buttons slight is helpful because it creates fewer irritating seams that can harbor bacteria if left unattended, so I understand why they did this. However, if you feel like you need to change the settings at some point, keep your thumb on the button so you don’t lose track of it!
Overall, I’m going to keep the LELO MIA 3 within arm’s reach at my bedside. Sometimes, I will prefer a more precise device, but I’ll also crave the rumble that this provides, so it will be in heavy rotation at my house. And it’s certainly coming on my next vacation.
Packaging
LELO is the packaging goat. They include everything you need in a luxurious, giftable package (image below). I never have complaints about their packaging except that I have a tough time getting rid of the gorgeous black box with a perfect picture window. Yet, I can’t keep all the toy boxes or I would not have space for anything else in my house. So, yes, LELO’s packaging is perfection!
Design
The design is about what you would expect from a lipstick vibe, though there are some clever choices, like the built-in charging port (image below). Some computers no longer have the capability to accept these USB plugs, but I still find this charging mechanism less tedious than the ones that have a cord. The cordless aspect keeps this a bit more discreet and lipstick-like, though the LELO branding may clue in toy-savvy friends of yours, should they happen to peek into your purse. It’s so small it could almost pass for a strange thumb drive. Part of me wants to plug this into my laptop at a coffee shop to charge and see if it raises any eyebrows—but don’t worry, I won’t.
One surprising design choice is that the lipstick tip is not what you place near your clit. You hold the tapered tip in your hand and place the rounded tip that vibrates near your clit. One of the things I typically like about lipstick vibes is the precision stimulation they provide. They can reach that one great spot like nothing else. However, this lipstick vibe has you use the rounded edge, which isn’t quite big enough for broad stimulation, nor pointed enough for pinpoint. I wish they had flipped where the motor is.
I also wish the buttons were more demarcated. They have the faintest raised plus and minus symbols, but it can be a pain to find them when you’re getting close and want to turn up the heat.
Material
The upgraded material is the most significant difference between this and the MIA 2. The MIA 3 has an all-silicone feel, wearing just a small silver necklace of ABS plastic. The silicone is softer against your clit, but it’s still something you can sanitize. It’s non-porous, which is what makes this vibrator body-safe in the long term because you can eradicate bacteria. Better yet, when you put lube on it, it gets slippery but not so slippery that you can’t hold onto it.
Stimulations
The lightest end of the vibrations is really light—and this is coming from someone who enjoys really light sensations. The first mode is almost torturous. It’s like being able to smell your favorite food but not taste it. It would be great for punishment, to be honest. The spectrum is strikingly wide, ranging from the slightest tingle to something you can feel in your thighs, and I found it easy to reach orgasm from the stronger settings. If you need highly rumbly vibes to get off, the MIA 3 won’t cut it for you, and you should stick with wands.
Sound Level
The MIA 3 is incredibly quiet. While I was doing the battery testing, the lightest setting was so light I couldn’t hear it at all unless I had it up to my ear. Squeezed between your thighs, no one will be the wiser, though it does ramp up quite a bit on the higher intensity settings. The website suggested that MIA 3 wouldn’t rise above 60 decibels. When I tested the sound level, it ranged from 32 to 49 decibels. They were dead on with their accuracy!
Build Quality and Dimensions
The build quality is as good as it gets for lipstick vibrators. Every part feels sturdy. The twist-off cap that reveals the charging plug is durable, and it snaps when you get it into place, so there’s no guesswork. Plus, it is the perfect size to slip into your purse or pocket. Portable AF!
Ease of Use
Overall, the MIA 3 is straightforward to use. You do not need to learn how to use an app or pair it with a remote control. All you need to do to begin is wash it, charge it, and push the plus button. It couldn’t be less fussy. However, there are a few improvements the company could have made to make it easier yet to use.
The circuitousness of the minus button (a short press on level one or a longer press on other levels) to turn the device off was slightly irritating. Yet, I quickly became accustomed to it and was able to operate the MIA 3 seamlessly.
The MIA 3 is made from waterproof materials so cleaning will be easy. You can also use a sex toy cleaner to wipe it clean, and LELO sells one for those who don’t already have one on hand. Don’t clean your vibrator with alcohol, though, or you can damage the surface.
Versatility
It’s portable and easy to charge, so this is the perfect traveling sidekick. Since it’s so quiet, it won’t even disturb playtime with your partner. The LELO MIA 3 is easy to hold against your clit in a number of positions—any that don’t require both arms to steady you. It’s discreet and waterproof, perfect for anywhere pleasure.
The clitoral vibe is not compatible with the LELO app, but I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d want to use an app for a tiny little thing like this anyway. It also only has one mode of pleasure—vibration—but it works well on nipples, clits, and anywhere that would benefit from a little tingle. The MIA 3 is quite versatile for a lipstick vibe.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing
I’m head over heels in love with my purple lipstick pal, but if I had to pick a nit, it would be with the shape of the vibrator (no pinpoint pleasure available plus it’s too small to qualify as broad stimulation) and the hard-to-find buttons. But for under $100, you don’t hear me complaining.

LELO MIA 2
The MIA 3 is the next generation of LELO’s lipstick vibe, the MIA. One of the first upgrades you’ll notice between the MIA 2 and 3 is that the 3 has more silicone, making it much softer than the primarily ABS plastic MIA 2. The MIA 2 only has six modes, but both are waterproof, come in the same three colors, and are essentially the same size.
The MIA 2 is still available and only $10 cheaper than the MIA 3, which makes the MIA 3 well worth the price thanks to the luxurious materials that won’t get as slippery and hard to handle during use!

Lovense Exomoon
The Lovense Exomoon is a better option for anyone who wants a lipstick vibe that’s app-compatible, which is a rare thing indeed. The considerably stronger motor means the Lovense Exomoon boasts a more intense experience, although you’ll find it louder as well.
It looks quite a bit like lipstick, so it’s better for hiding in plain sight. The Exomoon is more versatile but also more expensive when not on sale, costing $140.

We-Vibe Tango X
The We-Vibe Tango X is the lipstick vibrator to beat in my nightstand. It’s the gold standard for a reason: it is budget-friendly (around $80), powerful, cute, quiet, and easy to use.
The main difference is that the Tango X is made from more plastic, which isn’t nearly as comfy as the tip on the MIA 3. However, the Tango X has a stronger motor and is designed for more pinpoint stimulation than the MIA 3.

You can’t get better bang for your buck than the Boutique Voila lipstick vibe. The design looks like a bona fide tube of lipstick, though it is a bit bulkier. For $30, you get something that’s waterproof, rechargeable, and has an easy-to-use one-button interface.
Keep in mind that it’s loud, but for under $50, what can you expect? If you’ve never bought a sex toy before and you have a clit, you can’t do better than this lipstick vibe.
