Gush 2—the latest edition of the original Lovense Gush—is breaking onto the scene with more features and hands-free play options. And when I say “play,” I mean it. The device has an app that allows you to gamify masturbation, let your partner have control of the stimulations, or feel the sensations of your favorite porn. It’s been redesigned, covering more surface area of your penis, and it comes with an extra strap to keep the stroker’s grip as tight as you want it. Inquiring minds wanted to know: did it live up to the Gush or surpass it?
For the sake of this scientific experiment, my partner let me borrow his penis to put this vibrating stroker to the test. Find out the results of our experiment in my Lovense Gush 2 review!
If your stroke routine needs a boost of novelty, the Lovense Gush 2 is what you need. An excellent toy for those with grip issues, erectile dysfunction, or anyone who needs a sex toy where you can start soft rather than with an erection, the Lovense Gush 2 can turn your flaccid penis into an orgasmic erection in no time. After thoroughly testing this stroker, it was clear: this is worth the upgrade for anyone!
Who Should Try It? Anyone with ED, has grip issues, or needs something hands-free will be pleased by this purchase. The new, targeted penis oscillation may be enough to change the minds of any penis-haver who hasn’t enjoyed vibration in the past.
Who Can Skip It? If you plan to use this primarily as a stroker, there are better purchases for the price. The Mini Ella is a cheaper, basic stroker option that will get the job done.
You Can Buy It on the official Lovense website for $119.
What Is the Lovense Gush 2?
The Lovense Gush 2 is a hands-free, remote-controlled, vibrating, and oscillating penis massager. Essentially, it’s a sexy snap bracelet for your phallus. You put it around the upper section of your erection, turn it on, and it vibrates. If you’ve lubed up, you can stroke it for extra sensation. Or you can use the app to let your partner control it long distance, sync it with your adult content of choice, play games, create your own patterns, sync it to your favorite song, and more.
First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
Lovense offers a decent unboxing experience. Their packaging is attractive, modern, and sturdy, so you can keep the toy in there if you prefer. In this case, you may want to because the Gush 2 doesn’t come with a storage bag. It also comes with a USB recharging cable, two straps, and an instruction manual (all displayed in the image below).
The instruction manual was helpful, but it only had a picture of one strap, so I’m not sure that it has been fully updated since the first edition of the Gush. However, scanning the QR code on the instruction manual takes you to an updated website with more current information. The warnings, however, did not disappoint. The first was: “DO NOT boil in water (the battery may explode).”

How Do I Use the Lovense Gush 2?
After you unbox the Lovense Gush 2, it’s time to charge it. The manual said it would take 75 minutes to get from a dead battery to a full charge. When I tested it, it took sixty-five to charge and lasted an hour and forty-two minutes after a full charge. To charge it, you align the magnetic charging pins on the front of the toy. You’ll know it’s charging when the LED lights up red, and the light will turn off once the device has finished charging.
There are three ways to play with the Gush 2. The first is by using the one-button interface on the front of the stroker (image below) or with the app. If you decide to use the button, it couldn’t be simpler. To turn it on, hold the on/off button for three seconds. This also turns it off. A brief press of the button will cycle you through the different patterns.
If you want to use the app instead, download the Lovense Remote app. From there, you can go to “my patterns,” where you can add custom patterns and save them for present or current use. There’s also a section called “Control Link,” where you can hand over the stroker’s control to your partner, a stranger, or even chat anonymously. You can sync it to music, play games that control the toy, connect to your long-distance partner, use voice control, play around with interactive video, create a Lovense wish list, or try control roulette. Control roulette matches you with random internet strangers who want to play, and you can select male, female, or nonbinary (thanks for being inclusive, Lovense!) and decide whether you’re interested in sexting, dirty talk, voice messages, and more. It’s like a dating app and a sex toy app in one! The app had some games I’d heard of, like 2048, and some I’d never heard of, like Flappy Jumpy.
Lastly, you can control the device with VibeMate, which allows AI to control your toy. If you want to try out this functionality, download the VibeMate app and select some adult content. From there, you can connect the Gush 2 to have a more interactive experience. The vibrations will sync with the media you watch, but you can always switch it back to manual control or allow AI to take the wheel.
Next, decide between using it hands-free or as a stroker. If you want to use it as a stroker, you’ll place it towards the tip of your penis and can choose to put the strap around it to secure it. The textured inside goes toward the base of your penis so that the motor will be right near the head of your penis. It will be much more pleasurable and comfortable if you add some water-based lube before putting it on. Then, you place the strap tightly around the head. If you’re not careful, you can get pinched, so be cautious around your penis’s loose skin. If you’re stroking, you can decide whether or not you want to use the strap for extra pressure. Stroking also allows you to control how much friction you receive, which is helpful, especially if the oscillation alone is not enough to help you climax.
My Personal Experience
We wanted to see if the Lovense Gush 2 could be used flaccid, which would be helpful for people with ED or general erectile unpredictability.
The Lovense Remote app is so much fun to play with, and I’m constantly surprised by how much versatility it adds. My partner plays the game 2048 even when he’s not masturbating, so he was excited to try it as a masturbation aid. The game encourages you to make bigger, faster combinations and rewards you with bigger, faster vibrations when you do. However, since you start with small numbers and the stimulation is anything but constant, it’s hard to play the game as a path to orgasm.
We tried the control roulette, where you are matched with someone else who has a Lovense toy and is ready to play, and you can control their device, too. You can choose whether you’d like to chat with them, and my partner decided not to chat. However, at the end, there was a chat feature available, and we successfully thanked the stranger for their service—something to keep in mind if you really don’t want to be contacted. My partner controlled their Lovense Edge 2 while they controlled his Gush 2. We couldn’t see or talk to them; just saw their avatar, kind of a modernized virtual glory hole. It was hot and such a rush, but the experience will surely vary by which partner you get paired with. Without the chat feature, you can’t discuss what you like at all, so it’s a fun little gamble and relatively discreet, too.
Ultimately, my partner felt it made a better hands-free toy than a stroker. He did use it as a stroker with lube, which added an interesting textural sensation, but his favorite was to wear it while he was going down on me. Selfishly, that was my favorite, too.
One of the most significant upgrades to the Lovense Gush 2 is that they have a specific spot where the stroker oscillates, targeting sensation around the head of my partner’s penis. This upgrade transformed vibrating sensations for him, making it easier to climax than ever before. One downside to the stroking capability is that when you’re stroking, the pinpoint area of oscillation moves from the perfect spot to areas that are less pleasurable, so using both functions together isn’t as potent as it could be.
Packaging
The Lovense packaging is fire. It’s giftable, fun, and looks exciting. I love the idea of a bright pink box for a penis toy (image below). Eye-catching! The only thing missing from inside the packaging is a storage bag, which would have been a nice touch at this price point.
Design
The Lovense Gush 2 design changed quite a bit from the original. It’s quite a bit bigger, for one, so it will cover more area of your penis. And the aesthetic once you’re wearing it is a bit more cumbersome than some strokers since your erection will be wearing a double belt, like fashion straight from Y2K. Maybe next they’ll come up with a low-rise denim vibrator to match!
Material
The Lovense Gush 2 is made from body-safe, waterproof materials. It is luxurious but feels good on your penis. It’s made from silicone, which is plush and has an almost skin-like texture. The downside is that you can’t use a silicone-based lube with a silicone-based toy. Silicone-based lubricant is one of the slipperiest types of lube, and it stays slick for long periods. But when you use it on a silicone-base toy, it can break down the exterior and create pores, which bacteria will find oh-so inviting. Instead, try water-based lube. It’s not as slippery, but it will help your toys last longer and stay cleaner, keeping them body-safe for you in the long run.
Stimulations
My partner enjoys penis vibrations, but they’re seldom enough to get him off. His hopes were low when he put it on, but the longer he let the vibrations do their magic, the more turned on he got. The motor pushes and rattles rather than lightly tickles.
Sound Level
The Gush 2 is a reasonably quiet penis stimulator. It ranged from 40-54 decibels when we tested the sound level. This makes it discreet enough that neighbors or roommates in another room will be none-the-wiser.
Lovense Remote App
I love the Lovense Remote App. I knew that before I tried it with this toy. And I think it is the most versatile, easy to use, and has the most stable connectivity of any sex toy app I’ve tried. The Lovense Remote App reminds me of the song from The Lion King, the Circle of Life: “There’s more to do than can ever be done.” What I love most about it is that it makes masturbation feel like playtime again. It helps you remember that self-pleasure isn’t something that you should rush through but instead, an activity that you should enjoy for as long as possible. Gamifying pleasure is where the Lovense Remote app excels, perfect for someone who needs to bust out of their routine (pun extremely intended).
We did notice a slight flaw in the app, which was that if you use a pattern and set the speed to 4x, the toy didn’t quite reach the right speed, as shown in the video. However, this wasn’t a problem for us because we didn’t need extreme speed to find extreme pleasure.
Apps work better with some toys than others, and I was excited to see how the app would enhance the Lovense Gush 2’s user experience. It made hands-free play unimaginably fun. My partner could strap in his penis, whether hard or soft, create a looped rhythm, let someone online take control, sync it to music or the sound of my moans, and then go down on me. And the vibration alone was enough to get him off, which is incredibly rare for him!
Build Quality and Dimensions
The build quality is similar to any Lovense purchase: sturdy, luxurious, and comfortable.
The dimensions are larger than the original Gush and bulkier than many of the strokers I’ve toyed with. It’s heavier than a traditional disposable TPE sleeve, but it’s also safer for your body and more powerful than those (You can see how the upgraded model compares to the original Gush in the image above).
Ease of Use
This stroker is somewhat easy to use. You can put your penis inside and stroke it if you don’t want to use any of the other features, but you’d be paying a lot just to have a simple stroker. The app’s compatibility is intuitive, adding to its ease of use. But it will take a while to get the hang of it. Fortunately, the connectivity is pure magic, so you won’t have to deal with tech problems while you try to figure out your new device.
If you’re worried about the learning curve (fiddling around with the app while you figure out what works for you) ruining the mood with your partner, plan a few solo play sessions before you play together.
Versatility
This stroker is nothing if not versatile. It’s as comfortable in the hot tub as it is under the control of your long-distance partner. You can use it hands-free or hands-on, hard or soft, with or without the app, and whether your partner is in the same bed or another state. You can invent a never-before-used rhythm that caters to your exact arousal needs. The Lovense Remote App adds hours of fun and creativity you’d never experience on a date with Rosie Palmer and her five friends. Plus, you can use it with other Lovense toys such as Edge 2 for double pleasure, perfect for people who love both anal and penis pleasure.
Warranty and Support
Lovense offers a one-year warranty against faulty workmanship or defects on all its products. They also have a ten-year quality guarantee, covering devices that become defective outside the one-year warranty. This guarantee gives you a 55% discount on your next Lovense purchase. Incredible!
Minor Issues I Found During Testing
My partner had very few issues with this stroking device since it took penis vibration from being a fun sensation to something that could routinely—and quickly—get him off. However, it can take some practice to get the straps in the right place so that they don’t pinch your erection but still give you enough pressure (You can see the two straps in the image above). Next, the Gush 2 has a targeted area of oscillation placed perfectly around his frenulum, but that spot isn’t targeted when you use it as a stroker. It’s a very minor qualm that didn’t detract from his use of the toy nearly at all!

Alternatives to the Lovense Gush 2
Lovense Gush
My partner tried and loved the original Lovense Gush, and we were both interested to see what changes they would make to the updated version. Lovense made several upgrades and modifications, including that the Gush 2 has a focused spot of oscillation, which significantly impacted how enjoyable the vibrations were for my partner. The vibrational power is about the same. The original Gush comes with only one strap, and it’s like a rubber band; in other words, it’s not adjustable. The Gush 2 has two bands, which give a firmer squeeze to your erection, and the straps are adjustable so that they can be as tight or forgiving as you like.
The only downgrade between the two toys is that the Gush 2 doesn’t come with a storage bag. My partner felt like the upgrades to the Gush 2 were so clutch that he would choose it at any price. It’s worth the upgrade, even for those who have the original.

Lovense Calor
The Lovense Calor is a remote-control pocket pussy that looks like a thermos—and like a thermos, it can keep your erection hot all day long. The downside of the Calor is that it’s not as adjustable. It has one flexible wall that allows you to add pressure while you stroke, but that doesn’t allow for as tight of a fit as the Gush 2. The Lovense Calor is heated, which is a cozy touch.
The Calor makes a more comfortable stroker, so it’s the better choice for any who needs to stroke to get off. But the app isn’t quite as much fun to play with since it’s not a hands-free toy, so you will need to stay engaged with the Calor throughout playtime.

Jimmyjane Arvos
JimmyJane Arvos is a rechargeable warming penis vibrator. The Jimmyjane Arvos is occasionally pinchy, but my partner loved the warming feature, plus, it has a unique aesthetic. My partner gets the least use out of this one on this list because it doesn’t work well as a stroker, and it’s not hands-free.
It’s somewhat tricky to clean since you must clean out the inside and it’s not waterproof, but it’s a great choice for someone who needs powerful, rumbly vibrations to reach climax.
