First Impressions and Features
Unboxing
Unboxing a sex machine is usually a fully unsexy process. It typically comes in a brown cardboard box, and inside is a mess of plastic-wrapped pieces with the instructions hidden somewhere underneath the mess. The Lovense Mini Sex Machine was easily the loveliest unboxing experience I’ve had with a device of this size. It came in a plain package, and inside was a nice Lovense box with the pieces organized and cradled in foam. Everything was easy to find and identify, making the experience much less daunting. Bravo, Lovense!

How Do I Use Lovense Mini Sex Machine?
Using it isn’t as complicated as you might think. Setup is easy (see the assembly section), and there’s not much to learn once the thruster is assembled. The instruction manual is clear and easy to follow.
After you have set up the Mini Sex Machine, put the dildo on the thrusting end (either the one it comes with or another Vac-U-Lock dildo of your choosing that you own), and put lube on the dildo as well as whatever orifice will be penetrated.
Then, decide whether you will use the remote control or the app. The app gives you a better experience, so familiarize yourself with the Lovense Remote app. If you want to start with the remote control, it will be simple. The big red button is the emergency stop button, which also turns the Mini on and off. You can’t miss it. I suppose that’s why they made it red, even though it clashes with the pink of the rest of the machine. The dial adjusts the speed up and down.
If you want to graduate to the Lovense app, download it and then pair the Mini Sex Machine to it by going into the app and pressing the plus button. Once paired, try out all the functionality as described in further detail in the app section.
Next, consider trying different positions. You can start with missionary, with the thruster at the lowest level pointed straight. Angling it down is perfect for the prone position or up for doggy style. Play around with the heights and angles; everyone has different comfort levels.
When you’re done, unplug the sex machine. Then, clean the dildo with a sex toy cleaner and wipe the machine down with a damp cloth.
My Personal Experience
The Lovense app singlehandedly takes all of the Lovense sex toys to the next level. It gamifies pleasure, allowing you to be playful by creating your own rhythms, daring by letting a stranger choose the speed, or connected by syncing the toy up with your partner. I enjoy trying the app with all different kinds of pleasure devices, and I was intrigued by the idea of a portable, powerful thrusting machine.
When I tried the Mini Sex Machine on its own, it was clear that it wasn’t as stable as some of the others I’ve tried, like the Hismith 4.0 and the Motorbunny Buck. It wobbles around quite a bit despite the rubber grips. However, the rubber grips work more efficiently if you use the toy on a hard surface rather than a carpet or a bed.
The website says that the compact size makes it easy to put away (which is correct) or for a fun-filled getaway, which is where I must disagree. As much as I love thrusting dildos and treasure my G spot, if I were going on a trip, this is one of the last devices I would bring with me. It’s compact, but I have a whole closet full of devices that thrust, vibrate, or stroke that are more travel-friendly than this one. It’s small for a sex machine, but it’s not a small sex toy in general.
However, it’s effortless to handle and excellent for hands-free use. Most of the adjustments can be done one-handed. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use.
Packaging
The packaging was 10/10—the nicest I’ve ever seen with a sex toy machine. As far as giftability goes, you will be hard-pressed to find a thrusting sex machine with as thoughtful packaging as the Lovense Mini.
The thing about sex machines is they don’t come with a storage bag—they’re too big! Storing this thing discreetly is up to you. It’s quick enough to disassemble that you could break it down after each use and put it in a drawer where no one will see it, or you could keep it intact and put it in a larger closet.
Design
The design is good. I’ve never received a Lovense device that wasn’t brimming with quality. But there were a few minor design quirks about this one that I didn’t love.
For one, the Mini Sex Machine is white and pink, with black here and there. But the remote is red, a clashing, mismatched shade of red (image below). The remote feels like the cheapest part of the contraption, and I was disappointed that it wasn’t slightly higher quality. It is made from lightweight plastic and has two functions: turning it on or off and increasing or decreasing the speed. The remote control was a bit of a letdown, but I can understand why since this was built by a brand with such a groundbreaking app.
Changing the Lovense Mini Sex Machine’s angle is a dream. You can start at 90 degrees and change it all the way to 33 degrees up or down without the use of tools. The stroke length is adjustable as well and ranges from 1.2 to 3 inches long.
Material
The materials used to make the Mini are lightweight yet durable. They are so lightweight that their stability is compromised at higher speeds. However, they are body-safe and meant to last.
Stimulations
Lovense Mini Sex Machine brings the intense stimulations. This thruster goes fast and doesn’t stall. I was floored by how quickly and quietly the thruster reached top speeds.
Sound Level
The website advertised the Lovense Mini Sex Machine as quiet, saying that the maximum noise level reached would be 60 decibels. When I tested the machine, it ranged from 48-56 decibels even at the highest speeds. For a sex machine, this is extremely quiet. I’ve used louder vibrators!
Build Quality and Dimensions
The power cord is 8’10” long, meaning that you won’t have to be up against a wall to use this device. The other dimensions are small for a thrusting machine, making it easy to store.
Ease of Use
This sex machine is self-greasing, which considerably cuts down on the maintenance required to keep it in tip-top shape. As the video on the website shows, it weighs less than a gallon of milk. So, it’s easy to transport if need be. It’s straightforward to clean, and you don’t have to charge it. Assembly is quick, and the app is intuitive. Lovense went to great lengths to ensure this machine was easy to use.
Assembly
I get nervous when a sex toy arrives with a wrench in the box. I’m not handy. Fortunately, the assembly was easy; you don’t even need tools. The Lovense Mini Sex Machine arrives with the legs already assembled, but you can disassemble it further if you need to due to space constraints.
Once you remove all the plastic bags, you stick the legs into the holes, clamp them down, and screw the thrusting rod in. Everything was intuitive, plus it came with adequate instructions. The only tricky part is that the dildo doesn’t necessarily connect easily to the rod. I had to screw it in and jiggle it around for a few minutes before I got it to a place where it would stay connected. Pro tip: line up the dots to ensure it’s in the right place.
All in all, it took four minutes to put together the first time, with at least half of that being my fiddling with the dildo. The subsequent assembly was even faster, and the disassembly took only two minutes. However, the size is small enough that even if you decide to leave it together, it will be easy to store compared to most sex machines.
There are two cords, the power cord, and the controller cord, and it’s plain to see where they plug in on the back. All in all, it was a breeze.
Lovense Remote App
I love the Lovense Remote app. It’s inclusive, intuitive, easy to use, and the possibilities for customization are nearly endless.
Part of what I love about the Lovense app is that it is built for cammers. Cammers are the sex workers who make their money on adult camera sites. They are significant consumers of sex toys but a demographic that is often unfortunately left out of the design. That’s not the case with Lovense, who made their app distinctly with sex workers in mind. With the Lovense Mini Sex Machine, you can allow tips on these sites to activate the thrusts by using the Lovense Cam Extension and Stream Master. Making the app easy to monetize was ingenious.
However, some users have complained about loopholes in-app security when camming, so use the app at your own risk and take precautions to keep your information and identity as safe as possible, like using a VPN and scrubbing metadata.
Versatility
Even though this is a straightforward in-and-out dildo thruster, it is surprisingly versatile, thanks to the app. The Lovense app is the best in the industry, adding a new dimension of utility to all the compatible toys.
Further, the Lovense Mini Sex Machine is Vac-U-Lock compatible. Vac-U-Lock makes many kinds of dildos in different shapes and sizes, adding a huge versatility factor for this device. It will work with dildos shaped to target G spots or P spots and is a pleasure powerhouse for people of any gender.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing
Though I felt overall like the Lovense Mini Sex Machine was an excellent thrusting device, I was disappointed by the cheap remote control. I didn’t love how unstable it was, and I think the price is a little high for the experience you get.

The Lovense Sex Machine is the prototype of which the Mini was developed, with the Mini being just over half the size of the original. The Lovense Sex Machine is black, costs $1,400 when not on sale, and blows past the Mini at speeds of up to 300 strokes per minute. The original comes with two dildos, and it is double-sided so that two people can use it at one time, making it perfect for parties or partners who both enjoy penetration. It weighs 25 pounds and would be much more inconvenient to bring along on an adventure. The Lovense Sex Machine is sturdier but less portable, so you’ll have to decide whether the smaller price tag and compact size of the Mini is right for you.

Motorbunny Buck
The Motorbunny Buck is a difficult sex machine to compete with, though technically, it’s a saddle. Not only is the Buck the most versatile, powerful, and best for bondage, but it also has vibrating components and its own video game. Is that even fair to other sex machines? Well, yes, it is, because the Motorbunny Buck also costs around $1,500, which excludes it as an option for everyone except those with no spending limits.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d choose the Buck every day of the week. It’s more fun at parties, has all kinds of dildos to try, is comfortable and easy to use, is by far and away the most powerful vibrator I’ve ever tried, is compatible with some camming sites, has a great app, and I enjoy playing the video game. Yet, it’s not as portable, is much louder, takes up a ton of space, and the high price is a tough pill to swallow. If you can afford it, the Buck is the better option. But if you can’t, the Mini Sex Machine is a durable, portable, excellent choice for much less.

Hismith 4.0
The Hismith 4.0 is sturdier by a long shot than the Lovense Mini Sex Machine. The Lovense Mini weighs about as much as one leg of the Hismith, which helps it stay put. Oddly enough, the sturdiness ends with the base of the toy, as the Hismith’s dildo tends to flop all over, especially at higher speeds. The Hismith is louder, too, and not as easy to transport from place to place, but it has a longer stroke length. You can purchase a Hismith for around $600.
