A brand-new anal toy is Hot Octopuss PleX with flex, a flexible butt plug that uses the brand’s signature Treble and Bass Technology. I’ve had an excellent experience with another Hot Octopuss toy I tried that employed treble and bass: the Kurve. After conducting super-scientific butt research for this article, it’s time to discuss what I thought about this butt toy.
After testing PleX thoroughly for many months, it has become my favorite new butt toy. It’s fun to experiment with the two motors, and anyone into anal stimulation will have an excellent time discovering their favorite settings. Highly recommended!
Who Should Try It? This is a great toy if you love anal stimulation. It’s perfect for both solo play or partnered use, and you can have your partner control the stimulations. It works for people without prostates, too, so it’s suitable for any gender.
Who Can Skip It? It’s a pricey toy, so if you’re new to anal play, you may want to buy a cheaper product first, like the Lovehoney Butt Tingler, to make sure you like the sensations.
You Can Buy It on the official Hot Octopuss website for $99.95.
Table Of Contents
What Is Hot Octopuss PleX with flex?
The PleX with flex is a butt plug with two different motors: one toward the insertable end and one toward the bottom, and each has a specialty. The one at the tip is the treble, which has a lighter, buzzy vibe. The one at the base is the bass, and it offers powerful and rumbly vibrations. That means this toy can help you learn a lot about yourself, like what kind of sensations you prefer and where. Yes, learning can be fun—especially when your teacher is a gorgeous vibrating butt plug.
First Impressions & Features
PleX with flex features at a glance:
- Material: Body-safe silicone and ABS plastic
- Size: 5.5 x 1.8 x 2.4 inches
- Color: Black
- Mechanism: Vibrating anal butt plug with Treble and Bass Technology
- Weight: 0.34 lbs
Packaging
Hot Octopuss packaging is consistently sophisticated. The PleX with flex arrived in a nice giftable box, and it comes with everything you need: a storage bag, instructions, the remote control, and a USB charging cable.
Material
This toy has body-safe silicone with a few ABS plastic accents, making it very soft and well-designed.
Dimensions
For a butt plug, it’s a bigger toy. For anal toys in general, it’s about medium. So, I think PleX with flex is perfect for intermediately experienced anal enthusiasts.
Design
The curved shape of the PleX with flex is elegant and very soft. The silicone is super touchable, and the base flares out enough that you won’t be worried the toy will accidentally slip in. It’s the perfect size for people who aren’t quite beginners but aren’t size queens.
Battery Life and Charging
The PleX with flex comes with a USB charging cable, and you stab the cord through the tiny hole on the base of the toy. Once inserted, the manual says it charges for two hours (though for a first-time charge, the manual says to plan on powering it up for four hours).
When I tested the battery, I turned both the treble and bass on at their lowest settings, and they lasted for one hour and twenty-two minutes, much longer than the toy’s manual suggested. When I charged it afterward, it took one hour and fifteen minutes.
It’s always refreshing to find a toy that underestimates its battery life. That said, it makes a high-pitched sound when charging, so you may want to charge it in another room if that bothers you.
Warranty and Support
Hot Octopuss offers a one-year warranty on the PleX with flex.
Cleaning
It’s fully waterproof, which means the cleaning process is straightforward. Thankfully, the only indentations are on the toy’s base, so you probably won’t have to go in with a toothpick to clean it on most occasions. Just wash it with warm water and antibacterial soap between uses.
How To Use PleX with flex?
You’ll want to charge and wash the Plex with flex and then grab some water-based lube.
Go slow when you insert this toy. It might take a little while for newbies to get this inserted. That’s okay; take your time. Never rush anal insertion toys. Your rear will tell you when it’s ready (hopefully not audibly). Use more lube than you ever dreamed you would need.
If you’re used to anal toys, this will be a cinch.
The controls are reasonably intuitive—once you find the side button that doesn’t look like the others. It’s the power button.
- Hold the power button for two seconds to turn it on. Once it’s going, this button toggles through the five patterns.
- You can operate the treble and bass settings somewhat independently. The treble power button will turn on the buzzy sensations, and the bass power button will activate the rumbly vibrations. Use the plus or minus buttons to ratchet up and down the scale of the intensities.
- The buttons on the base of the toy are difficult to adjust once inserted, which is why they’ve included a remote control. You can turn the bass and treble on and off separately. But there’s only one plus or minus button, meaning that you’ll have to turn their intensities up or down together rather than being able to operate them completely independently.
- The only button missing from the remote is the pattern selector. Luckily, this is the one button on the toy itself that is reasonably easy to find while in use.

My Personal Experience
Settings
When I first started research for my PleX with flex review, I was most excited to try the Treble and Bass Technology with an anal toy. I enjoyed both the treble and the bass, but the bass was my favorite. However, I would have liked to pair high bass intensities with lower treble settings, but this wasn’t an option since you can’t operate them separately.
You can choose between five intensity settings and five different pleasure patterns. Plus, it’s large and wide enough that it should be able to reach a pleasurable spot for most people.
Stimulations
I noticed immediately that this toy was super powerful. If I had to give percentages to the five intensity settings, I’d guess they go like this: 10%, 50%, 70%, 85%, and 100%. So, when you use this, anticipate a big jump between setting one and two.
Remote Control
Another thing I loved: you can hand the remote over to your partner and put them in charge of the experience. This arrangement is more fun and less awkward than having them bend behind you to adjust the settings every few minutes.
This toy is waterproof, so it’s a lot of fun to use in the tub! However, the remote is not waterproof, so you’ll want to be mindful of that.
Ease Of Use
It’s not the easiest sex toy to operate without the remote, so in the tub, I had to kind of feel around for the buttons. The on/off switch is the easiest to hit. It’s rather hard to miss if you’re holding the base, so you may accidentally cycle through the patterns while in the tub.
Pro Tip: If you use this in the water, I recommend figuring out which settings you like the best before inserting it and leaving it alone while you bathe or shower so that you don’t have to fidget with it. Or, you can take your chances with the remote—just ensure it doesn’t fall into the tub.
I did find myself wishing that you could cycle through the settings with the remote. Unfortunately, you can only turn on the treble and bass and increase or lower their intensities on the remote.
Once I found the proper settings, I loved this toy. It’s fun to experiment with the two different motors. I think anyone into anal stimulation will have an excellent time discovering their favorite settings. Clearly, so much thought went into the design and function of the Plex with flex.
Minor issues I found during testing
I do have one qualm: the capitalization is a bit much. I mean, the first and last letters are capitalized, but neither of the last two words. That’s like if I wrote my name like this: AngelA christine kempf.

Who Should Try It
If you or your partner(s) love anal stimulation, this is a great buy. It is perfect for solo or couple play and is a fun option when you want your partner to control your vibrations. It’s ideal for people with or without prostates, so it’s an excellent choice for anyone who wants a multi-use toy. Since it’s hands-free, it’s also great for people with mobility issues.
Except for the price, the PleX with flex is the ultimate butt plug for people new to anal pleasure to experiment with since you can play with sensations in different spots, with various intensities and plenty of patterns.
Who Can Skip It
If you’re new to anal toys, you may want to try a cheaper toy first to ensure you like the sensation.
How It Stacks Up Against Other Hot Octopuss Toys
Since the Plex with flex is Hot Octopuss’ first foray into anal toys, there isn’t a direct comparison. Below, I’ve juxtaposed the Plex with some of their other toys.
Hot Octopuss Kurve
I tried the Hot Octopuss Kurve a while ago and was instantly enamored with the Treble and Bass Technology. It’s still one of my very favorite vibrators. If you’re looking for a clitoral or G spot vibrator, the Hot Octopuss Kurve is an ideal choice.
It has a little bit of a leg up on the PleX with flex because you can turn the intensity of the treble and bass up and down separately, giving you an endlessly customizable experience. However, the Kurve costs $129.95, so it’s pricier than the PleX with flex; plus, it’s meant for vaginal stimulation and can’t be used hands-free.
Hot Octopuss Amo
The Hot Octopuss Amo is a little-yet-mighty bullet vibrator meant for pleasuring clits. It has a surprisingly powerful motor, and it’s only $49.95, much cheaper than the PleX with flex.
However, while you could technically use the PleX with flex as a clitoral vibrator if you wanted to (washing it before switching parts, of course), you couldn’t use the Hot Octopuss Amo as a vibrating anal toy since it doesn’t have a flared base. So, the Amo will save you money if you’re not interested in anal play.
Alternatives to PleX with flex
b-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug
Winner of the title “Best Butt Plug” in our reviews, the b-Vibe Rimming Plug is a fantastic option for people looking to put some novelty behind them. Not only does this butt plug vibrate, but it also has rotating beads at the base that simulate a rim job. What fun!
However, it costs $144.99, so it’s more expensive than the PleX with flex.
Tantus Little Flirt
Beginners to anal play might be interested in the Tantus Little Flirt. It has an entry-level size and a beginner-friendly budget since the price is just $29. It’s easy to clean and only as wide as a finger, so it’s a very approachable toy.
It is missing the bells and whistles of the treble and bass vibrations that the PleX with flex has. With the Tantus Little Flirt, you will get a very basic toy for a very basic price.
njoy Pure Plug
njoy’s Pure Plug is a butt plug made of stainless steel. You can choose between three sizes based on your comfort with anal toys, and the price will reflect the size you choose, ranging from $65-$85. These toys are pretty; you can throw them in the dishwasher or boil them in a pot to clean them. They don’t vibrate, so they are geared for people who like a feeling of fullness without other stimulation.
