Even before I started reviewing sex toys, bullet vibrators were my lifeline and the only thing you could find in my nightstand with any regularity. I love everything about them: they’re small, typically pretty quiet, and they get the job done without much fuss. The new Hot Octopuss Amo looks like a mini cobra’s head, which is a thoughtful design choice since the front of the head can provide point-style stimulation and the back offers broader stimulation.
I was impressed by how much power this tiny vibrator packs, despite the short battery life. The vibrations were so strong that the curved tip on the back did the trick, unlike other products this size. Even though it’s powerful, it was silent, which was a nice surprise. The vibrations would also feel great against nipples or a penis.
Who Should Try It? If you love bullet vibes but wish their vibrations were quieter and rumblier, Amo is for you.
Who Can Skip It? If you need internal stimulation or love longer masturbation sessions, you have to buy something like Lelo Soraya Wave (internal stimulations) or We-Vibe Tango X (longer battery life) instead.

Taking the Bullet By the Horns!
The instruction manual describes this vibe as “one bullet you won’t want to dodge.” I do appreciate a sex toy company that can inject a pun from time to time. But more than that, I’m a fan of companies that strive for inclusion as much as Hot Octopuss does.
Hot Octopuss makes several toys for older folks, the BDSM community, and people with disabilities, so it’s an excellent company to support. Hot Octopuss products are nothing if not inclusive, which you already know if you have read my other reviews. And the icing on the cake is that their sex toys have always been surprisingly novel.

The Amo arrived in a box wrapped in brown paper, just like a Christmas present, which I love.
The box that it came in inside was also attractive. The box is adorned with the British flag, which makes sense since this toy came from across the pond. My one disappointment is that it didn’t come with a storage bag.
Material
This toy is made from ABS plastic and silicone, both body-safe materials that are non-porous.
Dimensions
This vibe is small but not tiny. If you can fit a tube of lipstick in your purse, you’ll probably be able to bring this with you wherever you go. It’s slightly larger than two fingers.
Design
The body is pretty and luxurious.
Hot Octopuss knows how to integrate plastic to keep the price point low while using silicone for softness where it counts.
Battery Life and Charging
The website said it takes 2-3 hours to charge and would last 40 minutes. I was hoping that the short battery life was due to a powerful motor, which is sometimes (but not always!) the case. For this device, it was true.
This toy has a potent motor, but the battery runs down alarmingly fast. It’s safe to say that this toy is best for quickies and people who are fast masturbators (fasturbators?).
The battery lasted two hours and twenty-four minutes on low after a full charge, and it took two hours and thirty-six minutes to charge. Another thoughtful touch? They list the battery run time on the highest setting, not the lowest.
To charge it, you take the USB charging cable and plug it into the small hole. The charging port lives on the same side as the power button.
Warranty and Support
This device comes with a one-year warranty.
Cleaning
This toy is fully waterproof, so it would be relatively easy to clean if not for the seam between the plastic and the silicone, the raised Hot Octopuss crown logo, and the etchings on the back.
You’re going to want to use a toothbrush to get this thing clean.
How To Use Hot Octopuss Amo?
- After you open the box and charge it, grab some water-based lube and use the power button to turn it on.
- Try the smooth backside for broad stimulation or the pointy front tip for pinpoint.
- Use the speed buttons to find the perfect amount of deep vibrations.
- Feel free to try it underwater, too, since it’s waterproof.
The controls are intuitive. There is one button on one side of the vibrator, and on the opposite side, there are two.
- To turn it on, you hold the lone button down for two seconds according to the instructions.
- You do the same thing to power down. When I tried it, it took nearly four seconds to turn on and off.
- After turning it on, you press the same switch to cycle through the five patterns.
- The two buttons on the other side move the intensity higher and lower.

My Personal Experience
I love bullet vibrators. They are the one kind of sex toy that’s never failed me. So, I was excited to start testing my Hot Octopuss Amo review.
And when I did, this vibe did not disappoint. The only disappointing aspect is that the battery in the highest setting has a shorter lifespan than a meme.
Battery Life
On the lowest setting, though, the battery isn’t so bad. You can use it for a couple of hours. But, since the main selling point is that the Amo is a sex toy with the capacity for rumbly, all-over vibrations, I wanted to try the more extreme settings. And though the battery died fast (around 40 minutes), the power made up for it, and it was effortless and fun to reach orgasm.
Ease Of Use
I typically prefer pinpoint stimulation, but oddly enough, I liked the curved backside better than the shape of the tip. The pinpoint tip on this bullet vibe was a little too sharp, and it didn’t feel the way I wanted it to on my clit.
This bullet vibe is light enough to hold the business end between your index finger and thumb without getting tired.
Stimulations
The vibrations were so strong that the curved tip on the back did the trick, unlike other vibrators this size. Even though it’s powerful, it was quiet, which was a nice surprise. The vibrations would also feel great against nipples or a penis.
Sound Level
I tried the vibrator in the tub and shower too, and it was nearly silent. The rumbly vibrations effortlessly traveled through the water. Using sex toys underwater is always fun; if you haven’t tried it, you should. The water feels nice against your body and can make reaching orgasm easier. One final bummer was that the paint started coming off after I used it in the tub.

How It Stacks Up Against Other Hot Octopuss Toys
Kurve
The Hot Octopuss Kurve is a non-traditional vibrator that’s a bit more versatile than the Amo. You can use it for internal G-spot stimulation or external clitoral vibes and choose between rumbly or buzzy vibes.
The Kurve’s battery lasted six hours on the lowest setting when I tried it for the other post. However, it’s $130, so this Hot Octopuss product is quite pricier than the Amo.
DiGiT
Hot Octopuss DiGiT is a wearable finger vibe, and it looks like a giant ring that you use by sticking your finger into the loops to secure it. However, it retails for $70, which is more expensive and doesn’t have a pronounced tip. It’s more of a rounded head.
The Amo and DiGiT have similar patterns and battery-life woes, so unless you specifically want a finger vibrator that doubles as jewelry, you will likely get a similar experience with the Amo for less money.
Are There Any Good Alternatives?
We-Vibe Tango X
The We-Vibe Tango X is another bullet vibe you can grab for $80. It comes with a storage bag with seven speeds and patterns, which is a few more than the Amo.
The battery lasts two hours and has an angled tip—great for people who love pinpoint sensations but not so great for people who need broad stimulation. However, the Tango X is hard plastic, so it won’t have the luxurious feel of the Amo.

The Dame Pom is another small, travel-friendly vibrator that contrasts nicely with the Amo. I compared the strength of the Hot Octopuss Amo to the Dame Pom, and the Amo is more of a rumbly vibe.
