How We Picked the Products

For this article, I picked 42 of the most effective products I’ve used over the years. I also enlisted the help of my colleagues at My Sex Toy Guide, who helped me come up with new and exciting names for the review.

With the 42 dildos ready for testing, I laid out the ‘bare minimums’ to fellow sex experts, aiming to streamline the exercise. I also defined several test criteria that we could measure on a scale from 0 to 100:

1. Design. The top models are designed with your convenience in mind. For instance, G-spot stimulating toys feature a curved shaft and rounded head to precisely hit the sweet spots. Similarly, thrusting butt plugs have a flared base and pointed tip to enhance security and simplify insertion.
2. Settings. Beyond the design, available settings were an essential part of the self-testing exercise. We paid attention to models with the most thrusting speeds. This way, one dildo could be used by different users, regardless of the experience.
3. Stimulations. While we mainly focused on thrusting speeds, I recommended the team pay attention to models with more possibilities like pulsation and vibration settings. I thought the new forms of stimulation added a new dimension of pleasure to the experience.
4. Build Quality. Besides the design, the quality is determined by the materials. The thrusters we reviewed had to be made from body-safe and hypoallergenic materials like silicone, TPE, and ABS plastic. The user’s safety and comfort were non-negotiable throughout the exercise.
5. Charging. We also paid attention to products with rechargeable batteries. I believe they are more reliable and environmentally friendly.
6. Special Features (app-control & long-distance control). Thrusting dildos and machines like the Hismith sex machine were pooled together to enhance the sex life of those living miles away from each other. With dedicated mobile apps simplifying long-distance control, we thought it was great to have something for everyone.

During testing, we rated each test criterion on a percentage scale from 0% (Worst) to 100% (Best). We then calculated the overall score using different weighted metrics depending on the importance of the test criteria. Half the total rating comes from Design (25%) and Stimulations (25%). After that comes Special Features (10%), Build Quality (10%), and Settings (10%).

After a 30-day testing exercise, the team came back with the findings. I brought in my fellow sexologists to help with the analysis, using comparison charts and expert recommendations to pick the best from the rest.

We went through major sex toy forums and read reviews from key vendor sites to understand what other sex toy users thought. Finally, we compiled this list of this year’s best thrusting dildos, and we believe your sex life will benefit from bringing one or two into the bedroom.

Why we love Velvet Mini Teddy:

Velvet Mini Teddy was the highest rated in most test categories and is thus this year’s best thrusting vibrator (and dildo). Our testers reported that Mini Teddy did an excellent job freeing their hands, so they could focus on other body parts during self-pleasuring and partnered sex, resulting in heightened sensations.

Let’s start with the most important area: the motor, where Mini Teddy’s was among the most powerful models we reviewed. “I especially loved the torque-oriented vibrations that sink deeper into the vaginal tissues”, our lead product tester Sandra Larson wrote in her test report. “Of course, it means people with sensitive clit or vaginal tissues will find it uncomfortable, but it’s the perfect choice for experienced folks looking for the most potent rumbles”, Sandra added.

Something else that stood out about the Velvet Mini Teddy was its portability and ease of use. The testers found Mini Teddy comfortable to hold, thanks to the silky silicone finish and decent-size shaft. The suction cup base also simplified handling, while the intuitive 2-button interface (circled above) made it foolproof. Unlike the primarily single-button options we tested, cycling through the six thrusting speeds was much more manageable.

Moving on to the suction cup base which we rated as “Reasonably Strong”, especially in horizontal positions. “The thrusting suction cup dildo initially fell off, but a few drops of water on the surface made the suction more stable”, Rachel Sommer reported. Unfortunately, there’s no flirting with the Velvet Mini Teddy. It starts vigorously, and the rumbles pierce through to the core, even at the lowest settings. Jessica and I prefer a small clit vibrator for warm-up before turning the Mini Teddy on.

The testers categorized the thrusting length as adequate for most consumers. Everything from the 2.5″ thrusting length to complement the 5″ usable length to the fairly chunky yet beginner-friendly 1.5″ diameter stands out. With attractive features like multiple speeds, an intuitive interface, realistic detailing (image below), and a hands-free suction cup base, many people will enjoy using the Mini Teddy.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Our main concern was the annoying noise, especially when I cranked the Thruster to the highest settings. The whirring sounded like a sewing machine.

Velvet Mini Teddy’s torque-based vibrations might not be ideal for beginners or people with sensitive clit and vaginal tissues. You might have to use a gentler vibrator, like Lovense Gravity below, for preparation before introducing this rumbly toy.

Why Velvet Mini Teddy is our overall test winner:

Why we love Lovense Gravity:

Lovense Gravity is our preferred option for long-distance couples and those who want to try public play. The primary reason is the Lovense Remote app (screenshots below), which remains the most effective mobile app in the sex toy industry. The intuitive app features bells and whistles, including customized patterns, sound-activated rumbles, music sync, and real-time remote control.

The testers found the app very resourceful for close-range and long-distance control. “Jessica and I have used it multiple times, and the 25 feet Bluetooth Range is always great because it means we can use Gravity from different parts of the house”, Rachel Sommer reported.

The connection felt solid and robust, as long as both parties had a stable internet connection. The mobile application even has a Live Control Option that lets you regulate your partner’s Lovense toys from anywhere in the world with the press of a button. With the intuitive interface, we found the experience flawless whenever we shared the command from miles away. Nice design overall!

Besides the 5.12″ insertable length, the Lovense Gravity’s 1.18″ thrusting length felt great. While some testers felt it could be longer, the integrated vibrating motor made the experience more thrilling. “I enjoyed using the vibrations to stimulate the clit before turning on the thrusting action for g-spot stimulation”, Sandra Larson told me.

Let’s talk about the motor and vibrations next. Most team members felt the independent thrusting and vibration control were great and would be enough for the majority of customers. Some reported that they preferred the vibrations for external stimulation and thrusting for internal probing but the opinions were mixed.

Rachel Sommer summarized her experience like this: “I need simultaneous clit and G-spot stimulation to cum, and I have to pair it with a clit suction toy. Minor issues we found during testing:

I was frustrated with the charger. The cable frequently detaches during charging, which beats the purpose of having a magnetic connection.

The 1.18″ stroke length was short. I consider myself an experienced depth queen, and the thrusting length was too short, and I had to thrust it manually. And even then, the sex machine had a limited range of motion, regardless of how hard I tried to move it around.

In addition, the controls were unresponsive at times, and I had to press the buttons, hoping something would happen.

3. Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl: Dual Stimulation!

Why we love Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl:

Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl is the top option for those after dual stimulation. It has two independent motors, one for the thrusting action and the other for the vibrations on the bunny ears which we thought did a great job stimulating their designated area.

Overall, we thought the efficiency and power were the best (97% average scores) among the thrusting rabbit vibrators we reviewed. The testers especially loved the flickering ears’ flexibility because they did a good job clamping against the clitoral hood for precise clitoral stimulation. The vibrations were also robust, making Greedy Girl perfect for even power-hungry consumers.

We also noted that the flickering ears got buzzier as the settings racked up. Even the lowest setting had a hint of buzz, which we preferred for external stimulation.

The testers noted Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl had a great range of settings. Like the rabbit ears, the shaft had three speeds. Beyond that, there were nine vibration patterns, making up to 36 possible combinations – the most amongst the thrusting dildos we reviewed.

The three thrusting settings did a decent job of mimicking penetrative sex, but not as well as the first two models on this list. But we liked that the change in intensity was trackable – “I enjoyed the joyride of swinging between the low, medium, and high speeds”, Sandra Larson wrote in her report.

Something else that stood out was the easy-to-use control interface. The two buttons near the base are sized differently, with the bigger one controlling the shaft movements and the smaller one regulating the bunny ears’ vibrations. The size difference made it easy to locate the buttons with my fingers, even in sex positions where I didn’t have a direct view of the action. This feature is great for those with mobility issues and is not something that we saw on the other models.

The travel lock feature comes in handy when traveling with Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl. Press and hold both buttons for two seconds to activate and deactivate the feature and enjoy buzz-free travel.

Lastly, the one hour and thirty-eight minutes battery life was impressive, especially for such a powerful thruster. And even with the responsive red light, which can be too bright when charging in a dark room, I loved Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl is not the quietest in town. It has mechanical whirring sounds, and you’ll have to get creative with music or a duvet to keep your affair private.

Something else that wasn’t very pleasant was the bright red LED light when charging. Even when the battery was full, the green light made my bedroom look like it’d played host to an alien invasion. I had to charge it in the kitchen, preferably during the day, to have a good night’s sleep.

4. Lovense Sex Machine: Most Powerful!

Why we love Lovense Sex Machine:

The Lovense Sex Machine is your best bet if you’re in the market for a dildo thrusting machine. Unlike the other fuck machines we reviewed, it had the most potent turbo gear motor. We’d be surprised if anyone walked away yearning for more power after using this Lovense Thruster.

Beyond the power, the sex machine has a unique dual-thrusting mechanism that lets you enjoy powerful self-thrusting from either end (image below). An average sex machine user might never use it, but kinky couples looking to explore the wild side will enjoy the dual-thrusting rods.

Something else that stood out was the two adapters that make the fuck machine versatile. These adapters made it exceedingly easy to alternate between dildos and attachments. In addition, the machine is Vac-U-Lock compatible, allowing you to use it with multiple dildos and products in your collection.

The sex machine comes with two silicone dildos – differently sized- so you can switch between the two depending on experience and depth preference (image below). Unfortunately, the testers thought they felt a bit cheaply made and had a weird plasticky smell, so we used the ones in our existing collection.

A significant feature was the compatible Lovense Remote app, offering a myriad of bells and whistles, including music sync and unlimited customization options. We especially loved how it demystified long-distance sex. While Jessica and I are rarely away from each other, I’d imagine couples always on the move will love it.

The  sex machine also has a dial controller (image below). Unlike the app, it doesn’t need Wi-Fi and is much quicker to connect and operate – a bonus for close-range couples. Of course, the app has more features and better versatility, but the classic dial controller is favored if you want quick thrusting action.

Minor issues we noted found during testing:

The included dildos looked and felt poorly made, with a faint plastic smell. You might have to purchase Vac-U-Lock compatible dildos and attachments if you don’t have some in your collection.

I also noted that the machine was loud and unstable, especially when I cracked it up to the highest settings. It reminded me of my old washing machine.

Assembly took time – like other sex machines we reviewed. I was slightly annoyed because I had to unscrew the steel rods whenever I wanted to adjust the stroke length, which significantly affected the momentum.

5. Liberator BonBon: Most Effective Hands-Free Mount!

Why we love Liberator BonBon:

If you’re looking for a well-made and versatile sex toy mount, we recommend Liberator BonBon. The mount holds your thrusting vibrator or dildo in place for a completely hands-free experience. Its 1.25″ – 3″ diameter means you can use it with multiple devices– it accommodates more than 85% of my dildo collection.

The testers loved the high-density foam (image below). It adds to the versatility aspect, doubling as a sex position enhancer. With the soft cover that feels great on bare skin, you can lie on the pillow for extended sessions without feeling uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, the sex pillow’s height means you can’t use it solo. However, it complements coupled sex perfectly, raising the receiving partner’s thighs for better genital access and deeper penetration.

As we demonstrate in the image below, the slot’s about five inches deep but tight enough to prevent the dildo from wobbling during play. We usually place a sock at the bottom of the pouch to steal back an inch or two when thrusting, especially when not using an extra-long vibrator.

BonBon has a moisture-proof liner between the foam core and outer cover to prevent sweat and other body fluids from soaking into the foam. The soft cover is also machine-washable, making it easy to maintain.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, BonBon is limited to thrusting dildos with a wireless remote control or a mobile application, like Lovense Gravity. The in-built control pad gets lost in the pouch, meaning you must remove it to regulate the settings and slide it back.

The pouch is incompatible with models that have realistic balls, flared bases, and suction cups. Those types are hard to insert.

Lastly, the mount is only available in one size and has a 300 lbs weight rating, phasing out obese individuals.

6. Velvet Thruster Prime Nanci: G-Spot Stimulation!

Why we love Velvet Thruster Prime Nanci:

The Velvet Thruster Prime offers an array of options to choose from, including the Nanci attachment. Among the G-spot models we reviewed, Nanci performed better than the others thanks to its hook-like shape and breathtaking power.

Let’s talk about the design. We loved the thruster’s unique design and its flexibility for customization. Nanci came preconfigured, but you can always choose the details – everything from the color to the shaft and handle. Something that set Nanci apart was its more masculine look. Unlike other models that look like a cock, it has the build of a bicep (image below), a design tweak the team found aesthetically appealing.

The flexible shaft bends up to 90 degrees, making it easy to manipulate the product to get to the G-spot. Additionally, its 1.25″ broad hook-like head was another highlight of the review: it made it easy to strike the sweet spots with precise accuracy.

Note: The 7.25″ insertable length and 3.5″ thrusting length proved enough for precise depth play (you can see it fully extended in the image below). All the reviewers reported an exciting and successful experience with G-spot stimulation.

My main concern with the design was the replaceable shafts. While they greatly enhanced the versatility aspect, they were easy to put on and take off. They tend to slip off under intense thrusting, which can be disappointing. In addition, the multiple difficult-to-clean holes, like the battery hole, make it not waterproof, something most sex toy users (if not all) want.

Moving on, we had a blast testing Nanci. The thrusting intensity was perfect, and it felt like the optimal choice for experienced folks looking for a powerful thruster to squeeze all the orgasms from their G-spot. We especially enjoyed the available selection of six thrusting speeds, with a maximum thrusting power of 140 strokes per minute.

Something else we liked about Nanci was the build quality. The series is anchored on a stable core with a selection of replaceable heads. Despite the accidental slipping off during intense use, the metrics pointed to a well-designed sex toy that’ll last a long time with the proper maintenance. In addition, the body-safe silicone material made Nanci silky-soft so that you can use it for extended sessions without discomfort.

Note: Nanci had the longest battery life among the models we tested. While it didn’t last as long as the website promised, it went for several hours without losing power or overheating, a positive feature and a testament to the phenomenal build quality.

Even without clitoral stimulation, we loved the available attachments because they made the thruster versatile. You could use it for anal stimulation, but most reviewers reported it as ‘too strong’ for backdoor exploration. Whether you want to add a suction cup base (like in the image above), a long-reach handle, or a partner play handle, the designers made it easy to customize and enhance the user experience, depending on whether you’re playing solo or with a partner.

With or without the attachments, the toy was reasonably easy to use. There are only three buttons: one to turn it on and off and the other two to go through the speed levels.

Note: It takes about three seconds for the self-thrusting toy to turn off once you press the power button. This can be incredibly counterproductive if you’re masturbating secretly and need to stop immediately.

Something else that made Nanci a standout thruster was the dynamic design. You can replace the shaft with the different heads in the Velvet Thruster Prime series – Jackie (realistic, Jackie Velvet Thruster Prime review here), Walter (anal use), and Sammie (large and flexible, Sammie review here). All these heads are compatible with Prime’s base, and you can customize your experience by picking either. You can see all the Prime heads and accessories in the image below.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, the cover slips off occasionally. Keep that in mind when you use it. I noticed it during the battery test, so you must know that if you use it too roughly, you might have to take a small break to adjust the cover.

In addition, the toy is rather expensive. It costs about $250, which most people will consider too high, especially with the minimal packaging. Not only would a more giftable package make sense, but a storage bag would be a worthy upgrade. If you want a more affordable handle G-spot thruster, I recommend Teddy GS.
