Why we love Dame Pom:

Why we love Magic Wand Plus:

The Magic Wand Plus has been primed as the Queen of all sex toys, and we couldn’t wait to have a go. Our testers got down to work testing the motor and comparing it to other wand vibrators to see if it lived up to the hype.

During testing, the model clocked 6,300 rotations per minute, which was 300 more than the original Magic Wand. Although not many people will ever get to use its full power, there is no arguing about its position as the most powerful clit vibrator. We found the vibrations deep and rumbly, with the only close competition being the OG model.

On the website, the Magic Wand Plus and the Rechargeable model are said to clock the same 6,300 RPM. However, having tested both, the team concluded the former felt heartier and more wholesome. “It’s hard to pinpoint the difference in power between the two, but my partner and I found the Wand Plus more satisfying,” says Rachel Sommer. “I don’t know if it’s because it’s plug and play and offers consistent power without any downtime, but it felt more powerful.”

Something else the team highlighted was the multiple vibration patterns. Unlike the two-speed original wand vibrator, it has four different settings, which we found made it easier to customize the sessions. You don’t have to be the most experienced clitoral stimulation fan because you can always start with the more moderate settings. Although the lowest settings clock about 2,700 RPM, this doesn’t necessarily make it beginner-friendly. Even at the lowest settings, the vibrations felt intense, and you might have to use it with underwear to muffle the rumble.

Unfortunately, Magic Wand has stuck to the same design, and it would do with an upgrade. All their wand vibes look like something stuck in the ’70s. Of course, the Plus model has a sleeker body, but it’s not the most aesthetic toy in my collection. However, we loved that the new model featured a removable charging cord to simplify storage.

Handling was another positive feature we noted. Magic Wand Plus’s three-button interface lets you turn it on and off as well as cycle through the four settings. According to our testers, you don’t need to be an experienced clit stimulation fan, nor will you need a manual. The simplistic interface and well-labeled buttons make it one of those sex toys you can buy, clean, and use in an instant. Unfortunately, the non-waterproof design means no aquatic fun and also complicates cleaning.

Minor issues we found during testing:

Unfortunately, the model is fairly pricey and doesn’t come with a storage bag. The price ranges between $104 and $119, and not everyone will be looking forward to spending such an amount on a ‘not so versatile’ clit stimulator.

We-Vibe Wand 2’s vibrations felt deeper and more resonant. Even at the lowest setting, our testers found the deep hum more impactful. Unlike the surface-level buzz that’s common with most clit vibrators, the vibrations were more ‘3D’, seeping deep into the nerve endings.

“According to my husband, the best way to differentiate power and rumble is speed and torque. Power is how fast a vehicle hits a wall, and rumble is how far the wall is moved from the impact,” says Sandra Larson. “Although the vibrations felt low-frequency, the resulting sensations were far-reaching compared to other wand vibrators.”

Although the vibrations become faster and buzzier as you crank the volume, the lower settings are the rumbliest. “It almost felt like they came in a slow, well-measured pattern,” says Angela Kempf. Fortunately, there are ten vibration settings, allowing you to customize the experience to match your sexual desires and experience. In addition, the mobile app offered more manual control, allowing you to tweak the settings further for a better build-up to the ultimate buzzing sensations.

Something else the team noted about the model was the flexible body. The posable neck made it relatively easy to alter the angles during usage for better precision. In addition, we loved the wide head because it increased the surface area and made it almost impossible to miss a mark. Unfortunately, this meant the vibrator wasn’t ideal for pinpoint stimulation, but I don’t think most users are looking for that in a vibrating wand.

Handling was also much easier than initially thought. During testing, the team pointed out the extended handle as a great addition because it made it easy to grasp the vibe. In addition, the button placement couldn’t have been better, with the plus button conveniently located at the top when you hold it. The two arrows to cycle through the patterns also made it easy to get back to a favorite if you accidentally zoom past it.

Lastly, its compatibility with the We-Vibe app offered more than a way to regulate the vibration patterns. We loved that it kept us in the loop on the battery level, so you’re not caught unawares. Whether playing solo or with a partner, we found the interface’s simplicity convenient, as it offered multiple ways to customize the vibrations for solo users and couples.

The mobile app might not be as handy because the clit vibrator is not as hands-free, but it proved resourceful when using it with your partner. “I love using it with my partner because I can use one hand to hold the sex toy and the other to tickle other body parts, while leaving her with the controls,” says Rachel Sommer.
