LELO Enigma Wave Review 2024: Worth The High Price Tag?

Featured imageA blended orgasm is an ingenious concept. It’s where you take one orgasm and mix it with the only better thing: another type of orgasm, simultaneously. LELO ENIGMA Wave intends to bring blended orgasms to the masses with their ingenious new sex toy that features three motors, WaveMotion Technology, G-spot vibration, and sonic wave stimulation on the clitoris.

This beauty is the embodiment of luxury, but is it worth the $259 price tag? Find out with me in my LELO ENIGMA Wave review.

Key Takeaways
4.8 out of 5 stars

The LELO ENIGMA Wave is a must-buy if you can’t decide between G-spot vibration, clitoral suction, and G-spot stroking. This luxury toy could help you reach blended orgasms, especially if clitoral air pulses are an easy way for you to reach orgasm. It won’t make a great toy for beginners thanks to the price tag, but it will be the perfect high-end gift for someone who wants the ultimate masturbation experience.

Who Should Try It? If you’re ready for a top-of-the-line blended orgasm experience that replaces clitoral vibration with suction, you won’t find a better toy than this. It makes a dazzling gift and it’s great for people who enjoy clitoral suction and want to attempt the elusive blended orgasm. The WaveMotion is something I haven’t experienced with any other products, so it’s perfect for people who want to treat their G-spot to a brand-new sensation.

Who Can Skip It? If you haven’t tried dual stimulation before and are on any kind of budget, you will want to start with something cheaper before upgrading to this. Further, if you need clitoral vibration, this won’t do the trick, but you should try the LELO Soraya Wave, which has clitoral vibration rather than suction. This one isn’t great for partnered play or long-distance play, so if those are on your must-haves list, skip it and find something else like the Lovense Lush 3 for long-distance fun or the We-Vibe Sync Lite for a wearable penetration vibe.

You Can Buy It on the official LELO website for $259.

What Is LELO ENIGMA Wave?

The LELO ENIGMA Wave is an updated version of the LELO ENIGMA, a dual-stimulation massager. The main difference is that the Wave has a unique way to stimulate the G spot—wave motion. It is a stroking sensation that can feel a bit like fingering. Whether or not you enjoy fingering, this little device performs nothing short of sorcery on the G-spot.

LELO ENIGMA Wave

The G-spot stroking action occurs while the clitoral arm pulses gently around the clitoris, creating a gentle, touch-free sensation. The three motors cater to three different modes of pleasure: one creates the wave motion internally, the next provides vibrations, and the last provides sonic air pulses around your clitoris.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

I loved unboxing the LELO ENIGMA Wave, as I love unboxing all LELO toys. It comes in a gorgeous box that you’ll be disappointed to get rid of, so much so that you might find it on a shelf years later, the way I have because it’s so nice to look at.

The content of the box

It also has absolutely everything you might need, including the toy, a USB charging cable, a satin storage pouch, a registration card, an instruction manual, and a sample packet of lube (image above). That means that, aside from washing and charging it, you can get started right away. And by getting started, I mean having your first blended orgasm.

Features

The LELO ENIGMA Wave has innovative features, including:

  • WaveMotion Technology can mimic the sense of fingering on your G spot
  • SenSonic Technology, which pleasures the clitoris without direct contact, preventing overstimulation
  • G-spot vibration
  • Flexible design to fit multiple shapes
  • Waterproof, body-safe materials

Specifications

LELO ENIGMA Wave specifications at a glance:

  • Material: Body-safe silicone and ABS plastic
  • Size: 4.2” X 1.9” X 7.1”
  • Color: Black or cyber purple
  • Mechanism: Clitoral sonic wave stimulation, G-spot WaveMotion, and vibration
  • Weight: 0.44 lbs

How To Use LELO ENIGMA Wave?

Using the LELO ENIGMA Wave is simpler than you might expect. The first step is washing and charging it. Next, remove any piercings you have in the area—piercings and clitoral suction don’t mix. Then, grab your favorite water-based lube and get turned on. If you start in an aroused state, you’re more likely to have a blended orgasm. So, grab your favorite purchased erotic content and get in the mood before you even turn it on.

There are only three buttons to use: a plus, a minus, and a button with what looks like two parentheses. Pressing the plus or the () button turns the toy on. Pressing the plus and minus buttons adjusts the sensations to more intense or less intense settings. The parentheses also cycle you through the settings (which allow you to turn off the vibration or WaveMotion settings, but the suction remains on throughout). When you press the plus and minus buttons, all the motors’ intensities will fluctuate together.

Solo Missionary Masturbation Position

If you are bringing the LELO ENIGMA Wave on a trip, you’re in luck, because it comes with a travel lock. To activate the travel lock, press and hold the plus and minus buttons for three seconds. This will ensure that the device won’t accidentally turn on mid-flight or car ride and lose its charge. To deactivate the travel lock, press and hold the plus and minus buttons for three seconds again. When you are done, wash the toy and store it in the storage bag.

My Personal Experience

You probably wouldn’t believe how excited I was to try the LELO ENIGMA Wave, but it was an inordinate amount. I was lucky enough to try the Soraya Wave (image below) a while back which uses the same internal stimulation mechanism. I was immediately hooked. It completely changed how I thought of the G spot. However, that toy uses my old standby, clitoral vibration as the external stimulation mode. The LELO ENIGMA Wave uses clitoral air pulses, which I like but have a history of coming on too strong since I am particularly sensitive. The Wave also incorporates a G-spot vibration component. Knowing that I tried to go in with an open mind.

After I try out a sex toy, I love to nose around LELO’s website because they have the most otherworldly marketing, and sometimes their videos are funny. Scrolling through the page didn’t disappoint, either. One of the pictures is of someone wearing transparent plastic jeans with the ENIGMA Wave in the back pocket, which begs the question: why? The main photo, of course, is of a woman wrapped in a sheet like a purple sex ghost. Another picture shows the triple stimulation massager being carried in a fish bowl-esque contraption. No matter how silly I find their marketing to be, I hope it’s working because their products are incredible and I want this brand to last forever.

Lelo Enigma, Soraya Wave, and Enigma Wave

The WaveMotion came through like it always does. It felt incredible. This toy seemed to have more of a rotating motion than the Soraya Wave, but it still felt astonishing. It works especially well for me because I don’t typically like bigger sizes, and this toy is small but reaches perfectly to my G spot.

One small thing that hampered the experience was that I couldn’t control the motors separately. Further, since there were only three buttons, you use the middle button to cycle through all the rhythms and patterns, and that takes quite a while. Some of the patterns include turning off the vibration and turning off the WaveMotion. So, if you only enjoy two of the sensations, you can find a pattern you like. However, since the clitoral suction was a constant, you can’t do anything but stop if you become overstimulated. The ENIGMA Wave wasn’t quite as versatile as I was expecting.

Further, the suction mechanism for clitoral orgasm often works quickly, perhaps a little too quickly. It can take more time for the G spot to warm up, especially if you’re going for the elusive blended orgasm. Not everyone’s erogenous zones heat up at the same time! Being able to turn off the clitoral suction would have been a handy feature so that you could spend time stimulating the G spot before adding in the clitoral suction. As is, the SenSonic pulses could rip an orgasm out of you before you have time to reach a blended orgasm. And by the time your G spot is game, your clit may indeed be overstimulated.

Though this toy isn’t necessarily designed for partnered play, you can certainly play with your partner. Masturbating in front of each other is always fun, as is anal play. I wouldn’t turn down side-by-side masturbation on a Saturday night, either.

I tried the LELO ENIGMA Wave in the bathtub as well, which is where I typically have the most luck with suction devices. If the air pulses become too intense, you can hold the nozzle very slightly away from your clit, and it will whoosh water over it, giving a less intense but still pleasurable sensation. I found it to be just as enjoyable if not more so than playing with this dual-stimulator dry.

I tried the LELO lube as well and loved it. It stays slippery for the long haul, something my most frequently used water-based lube can’t guarantee.

Packaging

LELO has some of my favorite packaging. It’s reliably stunning, and I haven’t seen anything more giftable. As you can see in the image below, the box is gorgeous, the toy is gorgeous; what more could you want?

The packaging

Design

The design made this device a complete smoke show, to be honest. You will want to show this toy off to all your friends, which I fully endorse. Let them know you use sex toys! They will probably admit that they use them, too.

As far as the aesthetic design, I have no notes. This is a perfect-looking toy.

LELO ENIGMA Wave

The toy comes with a setting that automatically shuts it off after twenty minutes. This is a reasonable shutoff time, especially when you’re using clitoral suction. Clitoral suction tends to rip fast, intense orgasms from you, for better or worse. They’re not amazing for edging, but they’re great for reliable, shockingly intense sensations. Some models have an automatic shutoff time of ten minutes, which is often not enough time for people with vulvas to climax and can be an insanely frustrating feature. However, since this one uses suction, twenty minutes will be plenty of time for most people to reach a clitoral orgasm.

Material

LELO uses a blend of body-safe silicone and ABS plastic to create a truly beautiful toy. A lot of brands combine the two materials, and their success in doing so ranges from ending up with a sex toy that looks like a dental device to something that is borderline art, like the ENIGMA Wave. The materials used are perfect.

Stimulations

Compared to other dual-stimulation toys, LELO ENIGMA Wave’s stimulations were overall impressive. Though vibrations were on the slightly buzzy side, the WaveMotion was strong. The suction had a great range of strength, starting on the less intense side (which was my personal favorite) and ramping up to strong SenSonic air pulses. The trouble is, since you can’t control the motors independently if you like one sensation to be very intense with the other one light, you won’t be able to get exactly what you want.

The WaveMotion stimulations are something that everyone with a G spot should experience at least once. And since some people feel like clitoral suction feels similar to oral sex, those people may feel like this toy replicates being fingered and gone down on at the same time. There are indeed key differences between the experience, including the fact that humans don’t make a slightly mechanical whirring sound during sex, but otherwise, it’s a decent dupe!

Sound Level

When I tested the sound level on this toy, it ranged from about 38 to 53, which is moderately noisy. Since this toy has triple the motors of most other toys, you can’t expect it to be silent. However, it won’t sound like there’s a party in your vulva, even though there is. With all three motors going, it sounds like construction is happening a couple of blocks away. To cover the sound, turn on some music or sing loud, whichever is your preference.

Note: If you really value discreetness, you may want to buy a quiet vibrator. Here are some of our recommendations for the best quiet vibrators.

Build Quality and Dimensions

The build quality is out of this world. The blend of ABS plastic and silicone only makes it prettier, a feat that other brands have tried and failed to achieve. There is a small seam between the ABS plastic and silicone, but everything is built so solidly that you won’t worry about washing this toy or bringing it in the hot tub if you choose.

LELO ENIGMA Wave with the other clit suckers we tested

The dimensions fall solidly into the medium range. It’s not a girthy or extra-long toy so it appeals to people who like the sensation of fullness rather than stretching. I fall into that category, so I enjoyed it immensely. In the image above, I show ENIGMA Wave side-by-side with the other clit suckers I tested so you get an idea of the form factor and dimensions.

Ease of Use

The LELO ENIGMA Wave is easy to use, as it only has three buttons. However, since it does provide three kinds of sensation, you’ll want to go through the instruction manual before you begin.

Closeup of the control buttons

Because this toy has three motors, I wish there were one more button that allowed you to target a motor, and then control that motor’s intensity independently. As it is, the () button not only cycles you through the vibration, suction, and WaveMotion rhythms, but it also cycles you through the settings where the WaveMotion or vibrations turn off. The lack of buttons makes for a slightly clumsier user experience, but it’s not a deal-breaker.

Lastly, the ENIGMA Wave is reasonably easy to use hands-free, if you like. Once you’ve inserted it, you can squeeze your thighs together to hold it in place. However, the WaveMotion can push it out unless you’re lying down, so that’s the easiest position to use this without holding the toy to keep it in place.

Charging

Charging the LELO ENIGMA Wave is easy. It comes with a USB charging cable, which you can plug into a USB socket and then into the Wave, as I demonstrate in the image below. When it is connected, the light will blink slowly to indicate it’s charging. When the light stays on, it’s fully charged.

LELO ENIGMA Wave charging

The battery life makes this easy to use as well. The long life means that you won’t have to constantly plug this toy in. When I tested it, it took just under two hours to charge and then lasted five hours and three minutes on a full charge. The charge time is on the longer end, so I recommend plugging it in overnight after you have used it. Since it has three separate motors, the charge-to-use ratio is understandable.

Versatility

This toy is somewhat versatile. But more than versatile, it’s multitalented. It can do a lot of things, but it can’t be used in a lot of different scenarios.

It doesn’t make an amazing choice for couples’ play because it kind of has all the bases covered on its own. However, for tandem masturbation, it’s excellent. For masturbation on your own in the bed or bathtub, it’s superb. But you have to enjoy multiple sensations at once, and you have to want to use the clitoral suction every time. Yet, for anyone who wants to have multiple sensations at once, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Note: For those who want vibrators that can be used for couple play, we recommend checking this best couples vibrator list.

Warranty and Support

LELO offers a one-year warranty and a ten-year quality guarantee on its products.

The warranty means that if your toy stops working during the first year, you may qualify for a replacement. The ten-year quality guarantee is useful after your one-year warranty has expired, and it gives you 50% off your next LELO purchase.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

The biggest problem I had with this toy is that you can’t control the motors separately and you can’t turn the suction off. Having independent control of the motors would allow people who like intense WaveMotion (me) to have light suction (also me), but without this control, it’s not incredibly versatile. You must enjoy all of your sensations at the same intensity, which I’m not sure most people do.

Further, having just one button to cycle through each setting is somewhat labor-intensive. If you accidentally go past the setting you like, you start from scratch, and it will be a minute before you can return to it. Unless you get good at remembering which buttons to push and then pushing them super fast, this could ruin the mood.

The other issue that stands out is the price point. Let’s face it: this one is expensive. But it’s a luxury toy, and if you have the means and enjoy touch-free clitoral stimulation, it’s worth every penny!

LELO ENIGMA vs. ENIGMA Wave

Long before the ENIGMA Wave came along, the ENIGMA was getting people off. It is almost exactly like the ENIGMA Wave, minus the WaveMotion technology. The original ENIGMA has internal vibration and external suction in the same elegant package. The battery life on the ENIGMA Wave is much longer than on the ENIGMA, so tantric masturbators may have a better time with the updated model.

Lelo Enigma and Lelo Enigma Wave

After reading this review, you can head to our Lelo Enigma review to make an easier comparison on which vibrator is a better fit for you. You can also see the original ENIGMA on the left and the new ENIGMA Wave on the right in the above image.

The LELO ENIGMA is markedly cheaper than the Wave, retailing for $200.

LELO ENIGMA Cruise vs. ENIGMA Wave

Next up is the Cruise. Just as elegant as its sisters, the Cruise is a dual-stimulation vibrator that uses sonic waves to pulse around the clitoris while the internal G-spot arm vibrates. One of its more notable features is Cruise Control, which means that you can dig this vibe into your body hard without the intensity y taking a nose-dive, as sometimes happens with other toys. If you opt for this device, you’ll miss out on the WaveMotion.

The Cruise retails for $219 but can be found on sale for around $175.

LELO Soraya Wave

The LELO Soraya Wave was the first model with WaveMotion Technology that I ever tried, and it completely changed my life. It’s without a doubt my favorite internal stimulation toy, and it’s something that I recommend to anyone who asks. The Soraya and ENIGMA both have a G-spot arm that mimics the sensation of fingering.

Lelo Enigma, Soraya Wave, and Enigma Wave

The LELO Soraya Wave differs from the ENIGMA in important ways. First, it uses vibration to stimulate the clitoris rather than SenSonic Technology. It also has a handle, which can make it easier to hold if the lube situation makes things slippery. The Soraya Wave typically costs $259, the same as the ENIGMA, but you can find it on sale for around $200. You can see Soraya Wave and ENIGMA Wave in the above image.

You can check the LELO Soraya Wave full review to learn more.

Womanizer Duo 2

The Womanizer Duo 2 is a suction vibe with a vibrating G-spot arm meant to help you achieve blended orgasms. It comes with some of Womanizer’s brilliant features like Autopilot, Smart Silence, and Afterglow, which reduces the intensity as you orgasm. Plus, you can control the motors separately, which is perhaps the most important distinction between the two devices. However, the Duo 2’s suction is much stronger than the ENIGMA Wave’s, so if you have a very sensitive clit, you may appreciate the Wave’s gentler pulses.

Womanizer Duo 2

You can check our full review of Womanizer Duo 2 right here for a more in-depth explanation of how well its vibrations were.  You can grab a Womanizer Duo 2 for $219.

Tracy’s Dog OG Pro 2

Tracy’s Dog OG Pro 2 is a clit sucker and a G-spot vibrator, with the bonus addition of a remote for easier operation. It’s not waterproof, but it is water-resistant, and it comes in three colors. Plus, this is the most affordable sex toy on the list, so it’s an excellent choice if you don’t know whether you’ll enjoy the sensation. If you’re new to this type of dual stimulator, trying Tracy’s Dog is the perfect introduction before investing in something more luxurious.

Tracy's Dog OG Pro 2

If you’re interested in getting this alternative, make sure to read our Tracy’s Dog OG Pro 2 review first to give you some insights on its pros and cons. You can buy Tracy’s Dog OG Pro 2 for $60.

Womanizer Premium 2

The Womanizer Premium 2 is a clitoral suction vibe. Though it doesn’t provide dual stimulation, it delivers intensity for people who like power. This gorgeous toy is waterproof and comes with a five-year warranty.

Womanizer Premium 2

The additional stimulation may make it too intense for some, but the Autopilot feature separates it from the rest. With Autopilot, you don’t have to control the toy, and it will automatically switch between intensities to give you a unique experience. It also has Smart Silence, so the toy will only start when in contact with your skin, something people who value discretion will not want to overlook. Lastly, it comes with two sizes of stimulator heads, which will be more comfortable for people with different sizes of clits, which is nearly everybody.

Grab a Womanizer Premium 2 for $200. But if you want to learn more about it first, here’s our Womanize Premium 2 review.
