Having been an avid Hitachi wand user for many years, I was accustomed to the magic they provided. But I wanted to add something smaller to my repertoire, as I needed a smaller model for traveling that didn’t compromise on clitoral stimulation. So I was beyond excited to try out the medium-sized LELO SMART WAND 2 as its smaller size makes it more portable. But does a smaller size mean less power? Follow along to see how it performs!
LELO SMART WAND 2 combines two of my favorite passions; I love magic wands, and I also love traveling. So I will definitely pack this compact model on my next trip. However, as I suspected before I started my testing, it’s not as powerful as some other products on the market, so it won’t replace my trusted Magic Wands anytime soon.
Who Should Try It? People in the market for a smaller-sized wand for broad stimulation. Or people with a sensitive clitoris looking for something less intense than many of the vibes on the market.
Who Can Skip It? If you prioritize power over portability, I recommend a Magic Wand instead, as they are more powerful, albeit clunkier. In addition, it doesn’t have a smartphone app, so I recommend Lovense Domi 2 for long-distance couples or techies.

Packaging
I love the LELO packaging. All the LELO toys I have received so far have come in a black matte box embossed with a snakeskin print, and the SMART WAND 2 medium was the same. The clear window reveals the toy, like a priceless piece of jewelry in a museum.
Once you open the box up, you will find a satin storage pouch, a small sachet of lube, a USB charging cord, a warranty card, and a user manual. The addition of lube sets this product above the rest, as it is not commonly found with other sex toys, and you can never have too much lube.
Material
The body is covered in a body-safe silicone which is unbelievably soft. Like other LELO products, the feeling of the silicone is a touch above all the other toys I’ve used.
The handle is made from metallic silver and ABS body-safe plastic, which has the LELO logo embossed into it, a sophisticated touch.
Dimensions
The wand is 8.3 inches long, and the vibrating head is around 1.5 inches in diameter and approximately 1.8 inches wide. The widest part of the handle is 1.8 inches, and the smallest part is about 0.8 inches. It weighs 0.34 pounds, which makes it the perfect wand for traveling.
Design
The body of the LELO SMART WAND 2 differs slightly from other wands as LELO decided to give the Smart Wand a curved handle that ergonomically sits in your hand. The head of the vibrator, along with much of the body, is covered in super-soft silicone, making it feel very luxurious.
Battery Life and Charging
Please note that the LELO Wand comes locked out of the box. To unlock it, just pop it on the charger.
To start using your vibrator, the manual states that it needs an initial charge of 2 hours. After that, it’ll need charging for 1.5-2 hours for a 2-hour run time.
Once the battery is low, a white light will start blinking to indicate it is time to charge. When the device is charging, the lights around the controls will flash until it is fully charged. Once charged, the lights will stop flashing.
The charging port is located at the top of the handle, meaning it is out of the way of lube or other fluids; however, it’s uncovered, so take care not to get any liquids into the USB port. The device has a USB charging cord compatible with many other LELO products.
Controls
The three buttons on the body are simple to use. There are two intensity buttons, one to increase the power and the other to decrease the power, and the mode selection button, which allows you to cycle through the different vibrational settings.
The wand comes locked so it doesn’t accidentally turn on during shipping. To unlock, either pop it on charge or press the plus and minus buttons simultaneously for three seconds. Once unlocked, lights around the controls should illuminate.
To turn it on, simply press the plus button. This button also increases vibrational strength. If you want to decrease the vibrations, simply press the minus button. To turn it off, press and hold the mode selection button.
Warranty and Support
The device comes with a one-year warranty and a ten-year quality guarantee which entitles you to 50% off a new device purchased on Lelo’s website, should there be a fault in your Lelo toy after the year’s warranty has passed.
How to use LELO SMART WAND 2?
- To use the LELO SMART WAND 2, first, give it a quick clean using the instructions above.
- Once that is done, connect it to the charger to charge the wand and unlock the travel lock.
- Next, get out some lube, because wetter is always better, and lube up your vulva and the toy.
- Then turn on the toy and cycle through the settings to find something pleasurable.
- Then sit back and enjoy!

My Personal Experience
Ease Of Use
I was excited to try out LELO’s SMART WAND 2 in the medium size as I am sometimes frustrated with the initial intensity of other wands, as the vibration is too powerful. So after I had unlocked it and given it a charge, I was ready to see just what type of power it delivered.
After setting the scene, I got out some lube and lubed up the toy, and myself then got to work exploring the different vibration modes. The wide flexible head of the sex toy allowed it to hit all the sweet spots of the vulva, and the flexible neck allowed me to move it around my clitoris with ease.
Stimulations
I really enjoyed the lower settings as they allowed me to build myself up to get ready to cum. However, I was slightly disappointed once I got to the higher settings.
I wasn’t expecting it to be extremely rumbly like other wand vibrators, but I thought it would deliver a bit more power in the higher settings. Therefore, it couldn’t provide the mind-blowing orgasms I have become accustomed to with the more powerful wand. I believe this is due to the smaller motor in the Smart Wand medium size. So if you’re looking for a higher vibration strength, I suggest purchasing the large model.
As the wand was slightly smaller and waterproof, I decided it would be perfect for the bath. The next time I decided to use it, I jumped in the tub and began using the toy to massage my body. Things got very hot and steamy!
I’d recommend using the LELO SMART WAND 2 in the shower or the bath, as the size made it a perfect accompaniment.
After the bath, I decided to see just how good of a massage the LELO SMART WAND 2 could provide and was pleasantly surprised. It didn’t work out the knots as a massage gun would, but it felt pleasurable on my neck and shoulders after a long day.
Sound Level
The SMART WAND 2’s best features are the noise level and compact size. The lower vibration levels were so quiet I could barely hear them. The vibrations on the higher settings were noticeably louder, but they couldn’t be heard through the bedroom door.
Price & Value
The size makes it perfect for traveling. There are smaller vibrators out there that may be better for traveling, but in my opinion, if you’re looking for an affordable toy with decent power that’s small and light enough for traveling, then you can’t pass the SMART WAND 2. The travel lock also adds to its portability, as you can save any potential embarrassment from a vibrating suitcase.

LELO SMART WAND 2 vs. Magic Wand
The Magic Wand was the first personal massager on the market, made famous by Betty Dobson and Sex and the City. Released initially in 1968, it has stood the test of time, and for a good reason, as it has delivered many an orgasm in its time.

How to clean LELO SMART WAND 2?
- To clean the LELO SMART WAND 2, use warm water and mild soap or a sex toy cleaner to wipe down the toy.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, such as alcohol to clean the toy, as this will damage the wand and affect vaginal health.
- As the toy has a motor, steer clear of the dishwasher.
- Once clean, leave the toy to dry before storing it somewhere dry, cool, and free from dust.
What attachments are available?
Unlike the Magic Wand and several other products, the LELO SMART WAND 2 has no official attachments. I know many people love the Magic Wand attachments as they add so much versatility to the toy. And unfortunately, since the head diameter is smaller than Hitachi, you can’t use those attachments.
