Lelo is a company that makes great sex toys (as I’ve written about in other reviews) but doesn’t always make good choices. I’m talking about things like dicey product design ideas that affect condom function and hiring Charlie Sheen as a spokesperson. They have since dropped him as a spokesperson and voiced support for abuse survivors. So, as long as the above issues haven’t put you off spending your money there, let’s talk about my Lelo Sona 2 Cruise, a well-made and gorgeously designed device that the brand refers to as “clitorally mind-blowing.”
Sona 2 Cruise is perfect for people who want to target a very small clitoris area. But I think it might be too small for people with bigger clitorises or even someone who wants suction sensations all over their clitoris. For these people, Sila will be a better option.
Who Should Try It? People who enjoy pinpoint-style sensations and intense sonic wave pulses on the clitoris will love this toy because it gives you intense clitoral stimulation.
Who Can Skip It? If you’re new to clit suckers, you should probably start with a cheaper product, like Womanizer Liberty ($99) or Womanizer Pro40 ($74), to experiment with before buying something as pricey as the Sona 2 Cruise.
You Can Buy It on the official Lelo website for $112.

What is LELO Sona 2 Cruise?
Lelo Sona 2 Cruise is a clitoral suction toy with Sensonic technology that stimulates the entire clitoris area. The Sensonic technology produces sonic pulses that don’t necessarily imitate oral sex, but they can still be a game-changer for your masturbation routine and sex life.
One of the cool things about clitorises is that no two enjoy precisely the same sensation. Companies that made vibrators realized this about the clitoris long ago and responded accordingly. However, Lelo is one of the first brands to create suction-based toys that cater to people who like broad sensations and also those who prefer pinpoint.
When I recently reviewed the Lelo Sila, I realized it provided broader, less direct suction due to its large mouth. The Sona 2 Cruise is the second generation and vastly upgraded iteration of the original Sona and the Sona 2.
I was excited to begin research for my Lelo Sona 2 Cruise review and see whether or not it sucked (pun intended).
First Impressions and Features
Lelo Sona 2 Cruise features at a glance:
- Material: Body-safe silicone and ABS plastic
- Size: 2.17 x 3.45 x 3.91 inches
- Color: Purple, cerise, or black
- Mechanism: Clitoral suction with Cruise Control Tech
- Weight: 0.3 lbs
Packaging
I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating: I love Lelo’s packaging. It’s not super gendered; it looks elegant, and they even wrap their products, making them over-the-top giftable. Anyone would be lucky to receive a Lelo product with this packaging.
Plus, they all showcase their product’s design, which is always gorgeous.
Material
The Sona 2 Cruise is made out of body-safe silicone and ABS plastic. The result? One sexy clit sucker!
Dimensions
Just a few inches long, the Sona 2 Cruise is travel-friendly and easy to pack in your purse for some afternoon delight.
Body
The body of the Sona 2 Cruise is small but easy to grasp. Plus, it’s completely waterproof so you can bring it into the tub. I do love a silicone toy that can join me for a bath.
Battery Life and Charging
The charging setup is reasonably intuitive. You plug the USB charging cable in and charge the clit sucker toy for two hours. The charging cable is quite short, as with all Lelo toys.
The battery life is where you might be a bit disappointed. When I tried it on the lowest setting, it lasted one hour and forty-one minutes.
It charged in only forty-two minutes, but I would trade a longer charge time for more stamina in a heartbeat. I can’t be the only person who has used an adult toy for longer than an hour and a half before, right?
The upside is that it has a super powerful motor that offers deeper and more intense sensations.
Cruise Control Technology Feature
Another central feature to mention is the Cruise Control function. Even though this isn’t something you operate with a button (because it’s a feature, not a setting), the toy is designed to increase intensity every time you apply pressure, not lose power.
Advanced masturbators will have noticed that, sometimes, when you push a toy firmly against you, it causes the toy to misfire, and the intensity stalls out a bit. So, they created Cruise Control tech to counteract this so that the sonic waves stay consistent even when you climax.
Warranty and Support
Lelo offers a one-year warranty on all their products.
Cleaning
To clean the Lelo Sona 2 Cruise, wash it with warm water, antibacterial soap, or a sex toy cleaner. Steer clear of any cleaning solutions that contain alcohol, petrol, or acetone.
The buttons have grooves, and the charging port creates a seam that will be slightly difficult to clean. For deep cleaning, grab a toothbrush or a cotton swab to get into the hard-to-reach places.
How To Use Lelo Sona 2 Cruise?
Once you’ve charged the Sona 2 Cruise, grab your favorite water-based lube and give this sucker a try.
This silicone toy has three buttons: a plus, a minus, and two, off-centered brackets on the center button:
- The plus button or the brackets button will turn on the device.
- The plus button will turn up the intensity of the sonic waves
- The minus button will lower it.
- The brackets (or center button) will cycle you through the twelve patterns until you find something suitable.
- To turn on the travel lock, press both buttons for 3 seconds.

My Personal Experience
When I begin research for my reviews, the first thing I usually do is read the user manual and watch all the promotional videos the brand has on its website that demonstrate the toy’s functionality. As I started reading about this device for my Lelo Sona 2 Cruise review, I did just that.
Often, marketing materials are a bit on the silly side. But the promotional video for the Lelo Sona 2 Cruise (scroll halfway down the page to see it) was hilarious, and I’m so glad it exists.
The video features women doing everything except masturbating, including falling backward off a cliff, placing fruit in their crotch, biting a plastic glove, languidly lying in a chair while their bed bursts into flames, unsuccessfully pouring water into a glass, and someone aggressively (?) belting (?) a bouquet. It left me with more questions than answers.
Design
Okay, back to the important stuff. I was fresh from my Sila review, and I enjoyed that toy so much that I was worried this toy would be a letdown in comparison. The Sona 2 Cruise’s opening is more petite, and I hadn’t realized how much more I could enjoy suction toys when they aren’t so intensely focused on one tiny part of the clit.
The other thing I noticed about this toy is how much smaller the head is than most of the other suction toys I have. It’s far smaller than the Lelo Sila but also smaller than the Satisfyer Pro 2. The experience of using a suction toy with a very small opening is extreme pinpoint stimulation.
The toy would be perfect for people who want to target a very small area on their clitoris. But I think it might be too small for people with larger clitorises or even someone who wants suction sensations all over their clitoris. It would be nice if it came in different sizes, making it a much more inclusive toy.
Stimulations
The first time I tried the Sona 2 Cruise, I noticed how amazing it felt on my skin. I tried all the settings—even the highest setting—and to no one’s surprise (at least, no one who has read my other reviews), it was a bit too intense for this clitoris. I’m not usually someone who is drawn to the power of a toy, personally, because I’m just too sensitive.
Like most other pleasure devices that use suction, it didn’t mimic oral sex, and it didn’t feel like vibration either. Instead, it was like a light, touchless tapping on my clit that felt like sound waves. It did resonate deeply like the marketing materials promised it would. And, to my delight, I didn’t fall backward off a cliff or accessorize any of my plants afterward.
But, for me, it was easier to reach orgasm underwater because it isn’t quite as intense, even though the power is still notable. Yes, underwater, my clitoris was much happier because it took me on a fantastic ride that wasn’t quite so overwhelming.
The sensation is very strong, so this toy will work on anyone who loves intense suction.
It’s also not as noisy as the Lelo Sila.
Ease Of Use
The last thing I noticed is that the buttons are finicky. When I turned the toy on, I was frequently in a different setting. Even if I turned the toy off on its highest setting, it would often start in a medium setting.
An orgasm is even more fun when you have the Sona 2 Cruise to do all the work for your clitoris.

Who Should Try It
If you love luxury suction toys and don’t have a larger clit, your search is over. This device will be perfect for you.
Who Can Skip It
If you’re new to suction toys, you should probably start with a cheaper toy to experiment with before buying something as pricey as the Sona 2 Cruise.
Also, if you prefer vibrators or need internal stimulation, this device won’t be good for you, but you should check out our reviews of G-spot vibrators or clitoral vibrators.
How It Stacks Up Against Other Lelo Toys
When classifying the Lelo suction toys, the taxonomy quickly becomes confusing. First, there was the Sona; after that, there was the Sona 2, Sona Cruise, and then the Sona 2 Cruise. As you can tell by the names, they all use sonic pulses rather than vibrations to help you reach multiple orgasms.
The Sila is another suction toy. Below, we’ll tease the difference to help you determine which one to buy.

Lelo Sona vs. Sona 2 Cruise
The Sona is a basic suction toy that doesn’t have all the bells and whistles (like Cruise Control) of the Sona 2 Cruise, but it costs only $69. It has only eight different settings compared to the twelve of the new generation.
The original Sona would be ideal for someone who wants to determine whether they enjoy suction before paying luxury prices.
Lelo Sona 2 vs. Sona 2 Cruise
The Sona 2 retails for $99. Its vibrating motor is a bit gentler than the original Sona. The Sona 2 has more vibration modes, and the silicone mouth is slightly bigger, which will fit more people. Plus, the lighter settings on the Sona 2 will be handy for sensitive people.
Original Sona Cruise vs. Sona 2 Cruise
The original Sona Cruise has a one-hour battery runtime, costs $99, and has eight settings. The Lelo Sona Cruise is perfect for someone who wants most of the features of the Sona 2 Cruise with a break on the price.
If you don’t mind the short battery runtime, Lelo Sona Cruise might be just what you’re looking for.
Lelo Sila Cruise vs. Sona 2 Cruise
The most significant difference between Sona 2 Cruise and Lelo Sila Cruise is the mouth size. The Sila has a much bigger mouth (at least twice the size), so the sensations will be more diffuse around the clitoris. Sila also has a mouth that slants out rather than a flat circle, and I found the fit to be a bit more comfortable.
The Sila is $169, and the Sona 2 Cruise is $139, an essential consideration for anyone who wants to stick to a budget. You can read more about Lelo Sila Cruise here.

Womanizer Premium 2
The Womanizer Premium 2 is a high-end toy with a $199 price tag. It has a discreet setting called “Smart Silence” so the device turns off whenever you’re not touching the mouth.
The Womanizer’s warranty is much longer—five years—so people using the toy for a long time may consider it worth the investment. (Check out my review here!)
Satisfyer Pro 2
You can’t beat the price of the Satisfyer Pro 2 since you can usually find one for $50. The quality will not match the Lelo products since the Satisfyer is primarily plastic and feels less substantial.
But it’s an excellent choice for anyone new to suction. (See my full review here!)
