Lelo Sila Review 2024: A Few Things You NEED To Know!

Lelo SilaLelo Sila looks like a snail, a funny design choice because most clitoral suction toys specialize in helping you race toward orgasms. But not the Sila. The website says it has a larger mouth meant to encase your entire clitoral area so you can have a slower build toward orgasm. Sounds good to this sex toy reviewer! I’ve used clit suction toys like the Lelo Enigma, Womanizer Duo, Womanizer Premium, and the Satisfyer Pro 2. So, I was excited to see how this toy would stack up during my testing.

Key Takeaways
4.5 out of 5 stars

Sila is a powerful suction toy with some serious stimulations—more potent than most toys I’ve tested. You can see in the unboxing video how much water it splashes. I typically test the battery life of waterproof sex toys in a bowl of water, and this was the first sex toy that made me wish I had flood insurance. Wow!

Who Should Try It? If you are a fan of suction on your clitoris, Sila will be a nice upgrade as it offers maximum pleasure to the entire vulva region.

Who Can Skip It? I think more people would love this toy if there were more sizing options. No two clits are the same, and other brands, like Womanizer Premium 2, have replacement heads to help vagina owners find the right fit. If you’re unsure, try a cheaper toy like Womanizer Pro40 ($74) first.

You Can Buy It on the official Lelo website for $127 or Shevibe for $169.

What Is Lelo Sila?

The Sila is a sonic clitoral massager, a fancy way of describing a clitoral suction toy that uses air pulses to get you off. Other toys with sonic waves tend to have a laser-like focus on one spot, while this vibrator stimulates the whole area with sonic waves.

This toy is for people who love suction and prefer broad stimulation rather than pinpoint and suction rather than vibration. It feels like suction, but the clitoral stimulation doesn’t quite mimic oral sex.

First Impressions and Features

Lelo Sila features at a glance:

  • Material: Body-safe silicone and ABS plastic
  • Size: 3.1 x 2.9 x 1.4 in
  • Color: Pink, lilac, or aqua
  • Mechanism: Hands-free clitoral vibration

Packaging

As always, Lelo gets an A+ for packaging. They have packaging down. Everything they send is super giftable and comes with everything a sophisticated masturbator-about-town could need.

The box wrapped in black cloth

The Lelo Sila came wrapped in some cloth, which was a nice touch. It was like opening a present. It was like sex Christmas came early.

The content of the box

Inside the elegant box, the Sila came with a manual, warranty registration card, USB charging cable, and a cute, silky little tote bag so you can bring Lelo wherever you’re going.

Material

The Lelo Sila is made with both soft silicone and plastic. In general, I prefer entirely silicone toys as every inch of the toy is soft and touchable. But Lelo’s products incorporate plastic so that it doesn’t make them feel cheap or diminish the quality.

Lelo Sila

Some brands’ ABS plastic feels very plastic-y like you’re playing with a children’s toy. But not Lelo. Somehow, they make it look luxurious, and the combination of the two materials works.

Dimensions

The toy is 3.1 x 2.9 x 1.4 inches—just about the size of a small apple. She fits easily in my purse and would be a cinch to pack for vacation. She’s small enough that you can use her for self-love or to amp up your sex life.

The mouth of the device

Body

Lelo’s toys are always so well-designed that I’m sad to put them into my nightstand instead of on my mantel, and this one is no exception. Sila’s body looks like a little snail, and the toy’s design makes it so that it feels like it’s fully wrapped around the clitoris.

The charging port

It’s round with the charging port at one side and the suction head at the other. It’s a pretty toy. And I’m always a fan of toys with more color options than just pink.

Battery Life and Charging

Okay, so the battery life was a little bit of a letdown. The user manual says the sonic wave technology will last up to two hours, but when I used it on the lowest setting, it lasted one hour and four minutes.

Charging the Sila took only 45 minutes, though, but it doesn’t quite make up for the short battery life. If the toy is meant to build you up slowly toward orgasm, you might feel a bit pushed for time in the end. And, you’ll want to plug this toy in every time, which can be a little bit of a nuisance.

The Sila controls lit up while charging

When the battery runs low, she blinks a white light to let you know to plug her in. But as fast as her battery goes, I wish she’d focus her effort on suction rather than blinking. With a battery life that short, she’s going to be doing a lot of blinking.

Still, it’s always nice to have a heads-up before someone taps out, so I appreciate this feature.

Warranty and Support

The Lelo Sila comes with a one-year limited warranty against defects, which you activate by registering your device after purchase.

Cleaning

The user manual suggests washing with antibacterial soap or sex toy cleaner and rinsing with warm water. However, you shouldn’t use soaps with alcohol, petrol, or acetone, as these could damage your toy.

The user manual also recommends you not pair this toy with hand lotion, which is a motion I’m going to second. The hand cream has two jobs: to moisturize and soak in quickly. It is a poor substitute for lubricant and won’t prevent chafing. Let’s promise right now we’ll never use hand lotion for lube.

Cleaning won’t be super complicated or super easy with this one. If anything, I’m leaning toward slightly challenging to clean. There are seams between the plastic and the silicone, and the buttons are indented. So, to get it perfectly clean, you’d want a toothbrush to help get the details.

How To Use Lelo Sila?

After you fully charge the Sila, grab some water-based lube, and start finding the position that works best for you.

The device has three buttons: a plus, a minus, and what I’m going to call two slightly askew parentheses.

The Sila control buttons

  1. The manual says to use the + sign to turn it on, but the parentheses will also do the job.
  2. The plus moves the sonic wave power up, the minus lowers it, and there are eight levels of intensity to play with.
  3. The parentheses help you cycle through the different rhythms.
  4. If your Sila doesn’t turn on immediately, press the + and – buttons for five seconds, as it is probably travel-locked.
  5. You can also press the same buttons for the same amount of time to turn on the travel lock.

My Personal Experience

Before I started, I was most excited to try the Lelo Sila in the bathtub. I’ve had the best luck with sonic wave toys in the bathtub because I’m super sensitive, and the water somehow seems to mitigate the intensity. It’s just one of my personal preferences.

Design

Lelo Sila wins the suction toy beauty contest. Many other air pulse toys almost look like dental equipment or face massagers, which is fine, but it can feel a bit clinical. It’s a little, gorgeous toy that you will want to show off to your friends.

In addition, Sila taught me something about myself: though my body finds pinpoint sensations preferable with most clitoral vibrators, it can be too much sensation for my clit with the suction toys. The broad sensations this clitoral stimulator provides felt gentler, and I didn’t become overwhelmed so quickly.

Stimulations

That said, the Sila is a powerful suction toy that offers serious stimulation—more potent than most of the others I’ve tried. You can see in the unboxing video how much water it splashes. I typically test the battery life of waterproof sex toys in a bowl of water, and this was the first sex toy that made me wish I had flood insurance.

I tried the toy right side up and upside down, and I preferred her upside down, which proves that you should always try sex toys every which way because the instruction manual doesn’t know your clit like you do.

Settings

As with most sex toys, I didn’t love the different rhythms, but I did try them and the different speeds, too. I’m one of those boring people who need consistency rather than surprise, so the different patterns and pleasure settings usually annoy me rather than bring me over the edge.

Ease Of Use

The opening of the Sila slants gently out, which makes it a lot more comfortable to get the right fit and direct contact for suction around your clitoris. Many other suction toys have flat heads, which feel much less snug against your clitoris, and you have to put more pressure on the mouth to get the same intensity. The wide mouth is big enough that it might be a good toy for trans-masc folks who want suction but don’t need a lot of depth.

Sound Level

Sila is nowhere near sila-nt or even whisper quiet. Rather, she’s reasonably loud—especially in the higher intensity settings.

The bathtub helped drown out some of the noise, but if you’re going to be using this in the bedroom, don’t expect a discreet sexual experience with regard to the noise level. The noise level wasn’t intolerable, but it was safely on the louder side.

So how was the bath play?

I also used Sila in the tub, and she performed just as well there. I tried some of the higher intensities without getting sore, which is a significant bonus.

Review Summary

Stimulation4.8 out of 5 stars
Features4.3 out of 5 stars
Cleanup4.4 out of 5 stars
Price4.3 out of 5 stars
Overall Rating4.5 out of 5 stars

I think this toy is perfect for an oft-ignored portion of the population: people who love the feeling of clitoral suction but need broad stimulation to climax.

However, I think more people would be into this toy if there were different sizing options. No two clits are the same size, and many other brands have different heads to help users find the right fit.

Luckily, the Lelo Sila has a large mouth, so it should fit most sizes and shapes of clits.

Pros

  • Great packaging
  • Cute design
  • Perfect for traveling
  • Powerful suction and intensity
  • Wide range of intensity and rhythms to play with
  • Simple to operate
  • Waterproof
  • The wider mouth should fit almost any clit
  • USB rechargeable

Cons

  • Battery life leaves something to be desired
  • At $169, the price is on the higher side
  • It only has one function and no vibration option, so if you don’t like it, you’re out of luck
  • A bit louder noise level than some of the best sex toys
  • Only one size and shape of the mouth

Is Lelo Sila good?

If you are already a big fan of suction on your clit, this toy may be a nice upgrade. Anyone who enjoys good clit stimulation will be happy with the Lila. It offers maximum pleasure to your entire vulva for anyone who loves a powerful clit sucker.

Who Can Skip This Sex Toy?

If you’re unsure how you feel about clitoral suction during masturbation, you might want to start with a cheaper toy before splurging on the Lelo Sila. Also, people who have only ever tried clitoral vibrator toys may find the intensity Sila provides too much for them to reach climax. And, people who like to have internal and external pleasure would probably be better served by buying a toy that does both.

How It Up Against Other Lelo Sex Toys

Lelo Sila vs. Lelo Sona 2 Cruise

The Lelo Sona Cruise is the sex toy most comparable to the Sila—and the website even says that it was inspired by the Sona. The Sona uses what the Lelo brand describes as “sensonic technology” to give a richer sensation than some of the vibes that stimulate the surface of the clit. The intensity of the Sila surpasses the Sona. But the Lelo Sona has a more petite mouth, which might work better for people who crave pinpoint stimulation.

Lelo Sila and Lelo Sona 2 Cruise

According to their user manuals, they have a similar battery life, but the Sona is $30 cheaper than the Sila. Lastly, the Sona has 12 different settings to play with, a few more than the Sila. You can read my complete Lelo Sona Cruise review here.

Lelo Sila vs. Lelo Enigma

The Lelo Enigma is another sonic wave toy that comes with the same gorgeous packaging and elegant design. The Enigma also has an internal arm that you put inside your vaginal opening, which vibrates for G spot and internal clitoris pleasure.

Enigma with the storage bag

It’s super flexible, making it easy to find the right spot on your clitoris. Anyone who wants internal and external stimulation simultaneously will spend the extra $20 to upgrade to the Lelo Enigma.

Womanizer Premium 2

The Womanizer Premium 2 is an elegant suction toy with great packaging and strength. It also comes with two different-sized heads, which helps accommodate different bodies, and the battery lasts quite a bit longer.

Womanizer Premium 2

However, the Womanizer Premium 2 costs just under $200, making the Lelo Sila a cheaper option.

Satisfyer Pro 2

The Satisfyer Pro 2 is the best option for anyone who needs to stay on a budget since it costs around $50. If you haven’t tried suction toys, this is an excellent first-time product.

The Satisfyer Pro 2 body showing the controls

However, the Satisfyer is made of much more rigid plastic, and the quality isn’t even close to that of Lelo products.

Dame Aer

The Dame Aer is another budget-friendly toy from a beloved brand in the sex toy industry that knows how to treat a clit. At $95, the Dame Aer isn’t cheap, but it won’t gouge you like the Premium. It, too, has a larger mouthpiece, but it doesn’t have as many settings or intensities as the Sila.

We-Vibe Melt

The We-Vibe Melt is a clit suction toy with a two-year warranty that you can control with an app (which is ideal for long-distance couples!).

We-Vibe Melt

Its mouth is quite a bit smaller, so you can expect the intensity of pleasure on your clit to ratchet up a bit. In addition, it’s a bit pricey at $149.
