Lovehoney Advent Calendar Review 2024: How Good Was It?

Lovehoney Advent CalendarWhat is the best gift ever? Yep, that’s right, it’s a sex toy advent calendar. All other answers are incorrect because they don’t include nearly a month of surprise presents that can add sensual pleasure during the holidays. The holiday season came early for me because I got to try out the Lovehoney Advent sex toy calendar. Forget the 12 days of Christmas, this calendar has 24, which means double the fun for the recipient. Plus, this collection was curated by two sex toy giants: Lovehoney and Womanizer.

Below, in my Womanizer x Lovehoney Advent Calendar review, I’ll go through each toy and the calendar as a whole. If you don’t mind having the surprises spoiled, read on. But if you want to be spoiled by surprises, stop here or just read the key takeaways summary below, and then start shopping!

This purchase is a no-brainer.

What Is the Lovehoney Advent Calendar?

The Lovehoney Advent Calendar is an advent calendar full of sex toys, meaning that you’ll get to open a surprise every day for 24 days and find something that you can use for sex. It’s the Christmas, Hannukah, or Kwanzaa gift that keeps on giving. While some advent calendars sneak in disappointments, others continue to amaze all month long. But this baby does not disappoint.

First Impressions and Features

Unboxing

Unboxing an advent calendar is always a good time because you get a little present every day. This unboxing did not disappoint. As you can see in the image below, everything is themed purple with sparkles, which is perfect because the colors are not confined to one holiday. It would work just as well for a birthday (as long as you are planning on celebrating all month long) as it would for the holiday season. It was so fun to unbox that when I finished, I sat with all the toys around me, surveying my spoils!

Lovehoney Advent Calendar

Overall, the packaging was sturdy and attractive, but not difficult to rip into: the perfect combination for a present.

Features

The Lovehoney Advent Calendar has features galore, including:

  • Presents to enhance masturbation or partnered sex
  • Gifts that will please both penis and vulva owners and BDSM lovers
  • Introductory anal toys

Specifications

Lovehoney Advent Calendar specifications at a glance:

  • Material: Silicone, ABS plastic, iron, zinc alloy, polypropylene, TPE, aluminum, acrylic, card, polyester, polyurethane
  • Color: Theme colors of purple, black, and silver
  • Mechanism: From butt toys to restraints to finger vibes, this adult advent calendar has it all!

How To Use the Lovehoney Advent Calendar?

When you receive the advent calendar, it’s typically traditional to start it at the beginning of a month. Open a present each day, with the best present often being the last one. It has twenty-four gifts, so you could align it with Christmas or another holiday of your choosing. How you use the gifts is up to you, but with this calendar, I would plan for a month of sex. But please note that the gifts are most useful to a straight couple.

A couple talking

My advice is to try the new gift out daily. Novelty is the cure for a dull sex routine, and this advent calendar will cure that in a heartbeat. Once you’ve tried them out individually, try pairing them up. Use the flogger, blindfold, and restraints all at once, or try multiple toys at once, as the anal plug paired with one of the cock rings. The options are nearly endless!

My Personal Experience

Hmm, how can I describe my experience trying out the Lovehoney x Womanizer Advent Calendar? I don’t want to oversell it, but it blew me away. Best day of my life! Okay, not quite, but that’s how overwhelmed I was with the amount of cool stuff packed into this collection. It’s all good. I would unequivocally recommend it to heterosexual couples looking to up the ante in the bedroom or perhaps even have the best sex of their life.

Closeup of the packaging

My previous experience with advent calendars is that they serve up 90% disappointment and 10% decent items. That is not the case with the Lovehoney Advent Calendar. Though some items are certainly on the lower end of the budget spectrum like the orgasm balm, vanilla massage oil, ribbed stroker, and sex dice (image below), most of the included gifts will be mainstays in your sex life for the long run.

Though you could use these items for masturbation, they’re geared toward penis/prostate owners and vagina owners, making it the best bang for your buck if you’re in a hetero relationship. This calendar is easily the best adult advent calendar I have ever opened. Though the price tag is high, it’s worth every penny.

The position cards and sex dice

However, it may not be worth the expense if you don’t have a partner or if neither of you has a clitoris. Since the biggest ticket item and final-door gift is the clitoral suction stimulator, the price of the actual calendar may make it feel like a small letdown.

Packaging

The packaging is perfect for a kinky advent calendar. Though some of the items were heavy, they were all held securely in place, and the doors were easy to open. The gifts were kept separate as well. Some cheaper advent calendars I’ve opened have had too thin of packaging, so one gift may slide down into another door. Not so with this bad boy!

The packaging

Design

I give the design of the Lovehoney sex toy advent calendar 10/10. The box it comes in is purple with sparkles—festive, but not occasion-specific. You can see the box in the image above.

The products and their accompaniments were thoughtfully chosen and organized. Each one is necessary, surprising, and made with quality. The aesthetics of the toys are gorgeous.

Material

Most of the material was excellent. The flogger is the perfect softness for beginners, and the silicone toys were soft and pretty (shown in the image below). The ABS plastic toys felt sturdy, and the crystal base of the butt plug was expertly made as well.

Silicone toys in the calendar

However, the strokers were somewhat gummy and seemed like they may be magnets for bacteria. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s something to watch out for.

Stimulations

I was absolutely floored by the vibrations that came out of the tiny bullet vibrator and the wand (shown image below). Their size belies their power. These toys were tiny powerhouses.

The mini wand, bullet and Womanizer Classic 2

Build Quality

The quality of this advent calendar is incredible. Every gift is thoughtful, gorgeous, practical, and designed to incorporate creativity in the bedroom. I couldn’t have been happier with the quality!

Ease of Use

None of the gifts in this advent calendar are complicated, but some might feel a little bit more advanced than others. As you can see in the image below, there are some anal toys, P- and G-spot toys, and even nipple clamps. This one will give couples the push they need to venture into unknown territory and find new ways to have fun.

Anal toys included in the advent calendar.

You don’t have to use an app or deal with more than a few buttons per toy. The setup is not more complicated than pushing a bullet vibe into a cock ring. If you’re nervous about trying a certain kind of toy in the kit, just consult the safety guide or the quick-start guide, which has warnings and advice for how to begin.

Versatility

This advent calendar scores 10/10 for versatility. It has a great variety of toys that will please penis-havers and vulva-havers alike. It’s great for single people, couples, kinksters, and vanilla folks. Without going too wild, this kit has a little something for nearly everyone.

The masturbation sleeve and penis ring

Warranty and Support

This adult advent calendar comes with a five-year warranty, which is unbelievable compared with most other sex-toy warranties.

Minor Issues I Found During Testing

Overall, I was blown away by this sex toy calendar and found each selection worthwhile. But, if I had to pick, my main disappointment was that it didn’t come with lube, and many of the toys are geared toward couples that are somewhat new to toys and may not have lube on hand.

The other suggestion I have for future boxes is to diversify. Have a box for gay couples, lesbian couples, trans-affirming toys, etc., which would make the whole experience more inclusive.

A small detail that bothered me somewhat was that the names of the toys sometimes differed from the names on the packaging. This wasn’t a massive problem, just a branding issue, but it was a bit confusing once the toys were opened when some had two different names. For instance, the packaging says “mint orgasm balm” on Day 4, and the actual balm says “menthol pleasure balm.” The packaging on Day 21 says “sex position snap card game” and the cards say “sexy snap position cards.”

What’s Inside

This is your last SPOILER ALERT! If you want to be surprised by what this sex toy calendar has in store for you, stop reading here. But if you’re someone who doesn’t like surprises or you’re getting this as a gift for someone else and are wondering if it’s worth the money, read on!

Day 1: The first toy in the Lovehoney x Womanizer Couples Advent Calendar is a USB rechargeable bullet vibrator. This might seem a little predictable, but it gets used in so many creative ways the further along in the month you go. It’s the equivalent of sex toy foreshadowing. The power is more than decent, and when I tested the battery life, it lasted two hours and twenty minutes, and then it took one hour and eight minutes to charge.

The one strange thing is that the power button is on the side rather than the top, making it a bit more difficult to find mid-masturbation.

Day 2: The surprise behind door #2 in the Lovehoney couples advent calendar was a ribbed stroker. Its cylinder shape is easy to clean compared to most, thanks to the hole at the end (pro tip: just turn it inside out). The spotted and striped interior texture will add fireworks to your next masturbation session. This stroker also has a secondary, smaller hole, where you can insert the bullet vibrator from door #1 for even more intense sensations.

The only people who would be disappointed by this addition are lesbian couples or single people with vaginas who won’t be able to get much use out of this. However, if you’re determined to try it, you could wrap the stroker around the Mini Massage Wand Vibrator (which you’ll unwrap later in the month) to add some texture while masturbating.

Day 3: The 3rd door speaks my language: wrist restraints (shown in the image below). More sex toy foreshadowing here, as these will come into play later as well. The cuffs are the super comfy kind, with a velvety interior, and the edges are nice and soft too. The Velcro means you can select your size and they should comfortably fit most sizes of wrists.

The bondage and BDSM equipment

There isn’t a lock or key, which is nice because there’s nothing to lose. They have a lobster clasp, so you can clasp them together. However, with regular hand mobility, you can easily take these off, so it’s better to fasten your hands further apart so they can’t reach the clasp.

Day 4: Next was the menthol pleasure balm, which says that it “works wonders on your intimate areas” but the container also says for external use only. The quick start guide recommended putting it on erogenous areas. I did, and it was tingly and cooling for a few minutes. I don’t think that it would put me in the mood if I wasn’t already in the mood, but the sensation was novel and I absolutely loved it. It would be fun to try on your own or with a partner!

Day 5: The fifth day of the sex advent calendar was G-spot dildo day, with a smaller, silicone dildo. The size here doesn’t matter as much as the shape, since the G-spot is only a couple of inches inside the vagina. There’s a hole inside the dildo, and though it’s too small to be worn by someone with a penis, it would work as a strap-on thanks to the flared base, if you have a harness and the right size ring. I tried it with Lovehoney Beginner’s Unisex Strap-On, and it fit perfectly.

The hole’s intended purpose is for the USB rechargeable bullet vibrator you got on day 1. This one worked well as a G-spot vibrator for me, but some may want a little more length or girth as this was quite a small G-spot dildo.

The thick silicone didn’t deaden the vibrations as much as I predicted it would, however, the tip of the G-spot dildo is not hollow—it is fully silicone, so you will feel the strongest vibrations nearest the base. Speaking of the base, it’s flared but just barely. Though this G-spot vibrator will work with the right harness, it’s not big enough to be safe for anal use, which is a bit of a disappointment.

Day 6: Next was the cock ring, and my partner generously lent his dick for testing. My partner found it comfortable and functional, if not mind-blowing. There are more tech-heavy versions on the market, but this is a great, straightforward version for those who have never tried it before. For those new to the c-ring game, this one can help maintain an erection and slightly increase your sensitivity.

If you’ve never used one before, here’s a tip: shave before using this cock ring. It has a silicone feel that tugs on your pubic hair, which will make putting it on and taking it off uncomfortable.

Further, this cock ring isn’t adjustable, so if you fall on either end of the size spectrum, either very large or small, you may not find this comfortable.

Day 7: At the end of the first week of gifts on the advent calendar, you’ll find a satin blindfold. I like the idea of pairing the blindfold with the menthol pleasure balm since it can feel like your other senses are enhanced when you remove one. I wish the elastic straps on the satin blindfold were adjustable (though it did fit my partner’s enormous head as well as my regular-sized head) and that it was washable.

As is, you won’t want to get anything on it because you can only wipe it clean. If it gets dirty, you’ll have to replace it.

I liked that the design of the blindfold matched the box. Further, this is a gift you can use whether or not you enjoy sensory deprivation. If you don’t like the idea of having sex with a blindfold on, use it to sleep.

Day 8: The Crystal Butt Plug is what you’ll find on day eight, and it’s very pretty. As you can see in the image below, it’s small in length and girth, and has a sparkly purple end, adding a little dazzle to your behind. In earlier versions of this advent calendar, it is referred to as the Metal Butt Plug but they are identical except for the color.

Jeweled butt plug and anal beads

Butt plugs have universal appeal because everyone can enjoy them, so I love this entry into the couple’s advent calendar. The crystal base adds such a fun pop of color. Anal sex toys are inclusive and, and unlike other toys, they have mass appeal. If you’ve never tried a metal butt plug or crystal butt plug before, these are a great size for beginners.

It doesn’t have a motor, so the main sensation this toy provides is fullness. There is a small seam between the purple jewel and the rest of the silver exterior, so to clean this, you’ll need a toothbrush.

Day 9: Day 9 is a sandalwood-scented candle (image below). Some people may not be jazzed by this gift, but I was. Everyone needs more scented candles! And I think most people could use a little more ambiance in their sex life. Sex by candlelight? Yes, please. You can light this sandalwood-scented candle for romantic vibes without much effort. Thanks, advent calendar!

Massage oil and scented candle

Day 10: Day 10 was the best day of all. It was the Mini Massage Wand Vibrator, a powerful, travel-sized wand. It has different intensities and rhythms to choose from, and the flexible neck means it’s easy to hold.

I fell in love with the mini wand right away, and I don’t mean that as hyperbole. We’re married now. It’s small but potent, and though the battery life only lasts for one hour on the first setting (and it took an hour and fifteen minutes to charge), I was still blown away. I loved this item, and am seriously considering getting it for nearly everyone with a vulva on my gift list this year.

Nothing about this toy seems waterproof, so washing it carefully and getting in all the crevices—and there are many crevices—is the only downside to it. (If you want to get a waterproof version, check some of the wand vibrators we tested in this guide.)

Day 11: The next gift was pretty, purple nipple clamps. These nipple clamps are lightweight, so they’re beginner-friendly. They don’t vibrate, but the simplicity is addictive. Like cock rings, they make your nipples sensitive by cutting off the flow of blood. Ensure you don’t use them too tightly or for too long. If you want to add a little extra spicy kink, you can gently yank them off during orgasm.

Luckily for me, my partner tried these out for me. Since I recently had a double mastectomy, I could slam my breasts in the door and be none the wiser. He found them easy to use and fun. They’re like adding a little cayenne to your sex life stew.

Day 12: Halfway through the Lovehoney x Womanizer Advent Calendar you’ll find vanilla massage oil, which probably should have been a bottle of lube instead. Massages are nice, but with anal toys in the collection, water-based lubricant is a must! If I put together the collection, water-based lube would have been the gift on day 2, so that it could be used throughout. The vanilla smelled slightly synthetic but was otherwise great when my partner used it on me for a back rub.

Day 13: Day 13 is the G- and P- spot massager. I love a toy that can pleasure any gender and this one can do just that. Grab some lube and insert it, or do your partner a favor and put it inside them. If you’re in the mood for vibrations, you guessed it, you can slip the bullet vibrator inside and give yourself a bumpy ride. Remember to sanitize before switching body parts or which partner is getting the thrills.

Day 14: This textured stroker will add a new dimension to your masturbation routine. Unlike most strokers, it is flat, so it’s not a hands-free toy but it is one size fits all. Place the stroker in your hand and then wrap it around your penis.

The textured stroker has a jelly-like feel, which often means that it will harbor bacteria and is better for short-term use than long-term use. The wiggly material means that this textured stroker is made from TPE. TPE is safe for your body but it can be tough to sterilize. It lacks easy cleaning, so you may want to discard it after a few uses.

Day 15: The ankle restraints come not a moment too soon. Now you can bind all of your partner’s limbs. These ankle restraints have the same lobster clasp, so to ensure a realistic bondage scenario, you’ll want to affix them apart from their arms rather than together since they are easy to undo. The lobster clasp is easy to use and you don’t have to worry about losing a key!

Day 16: Sex dice are here to help you get out of that dusty sex rut. These dice are fun, but they aren’t quite as spicy as I was hoping. One die tells you which position you are doing, and the other says how long you’re doing it for. The times range from one minute to fifteen, and one side has a question mark, meaning you get to pick the length of time. If I was hoping to have a hot night with my partner and we got out sex dice, I would be super bummed to roll a fifteen-minute missionary position, which is an option with these dice.

The position cards and sex dice

The most interesting position is 69, which is still fairly common. I prefer the dice that have an action, like lick or massage, followed by a body part—especially if they include some lesser-frequented erogenous zones. This was among my least favorite entries in the advent calendar. You can see the two dice in the image above.

Day 17: Next up was a body massager. I was surprised by how much I liked it. It’s a sparkly purple and even gentle pressure feels amazing. Pair it with the massage oil and scented candle, and you’re ready for a romantic evening. It’s small and feels like it is made of plastic but is shockingly pleasurable. This body massager is a relaxing addition to the Lovehoney X Womanizer adult advent calendar.

Day 18: Now that you’ve graduated from butt plugs, the next step is anal beads. Silicone anal beads are what you’ll find behind this door, complete with a finger loop so that you can pull the ripcord as you approach orgasm. These silicone beads will be easy to clean, and you can pair them with the USB rechargeable bullet vibrator for added sensation. I love silicone anal beads, especially because you can size up gradually, making them particularly accessible for beginners. Grab some water-based lube and have some backdoor fun.

Day 19: I was pleasantly surprised to find a mini flogger on day 19. The tresses are very soft and flexible, making them perfect for teasing, tickling sensations, and a light sting. The flogger is short, easy to control, and the perfect introduction to impact play. This was one of my favorite additions to the sex toy collection.

Earlier versions of Lovehoney Advent Calendars have included other products related to bondage like a mini paddle, but I much prefer the flogger. The sting is so pleasant that this upgrade from the mini paddle is a no-brainer.

Day 20: The finger vibrator sleeve you’ll find on this day is sturdy and easy to clean. You can slip the bullet vibrator in and blow your partner’s mind. The material feels like soft silicone and is great against your skin.

Unfortunately, the finger loop is silicone too, so you can’t adjust the size at all, though it is slightly stretchy. My partner has very large fingers and it was difficult for him to wear because it was fairly tight, but the size of the finger vibrator sleeve worked well for me. It’s the perfect thing to add some extra stimulation to your touch when you caress your partner’s body.

Day 21: I was excited about the Sexy Snap Position Cards game because it combines two of the things I love most: games and sex. In fact, I think the only thing that could make sex more fun is if it were a competition.

There are two ways to play with the sex position cards, and the deck contains two of each suggested sex position. You can play memory or sexy snap. Either way, whoever has the most cards gets to choose the sex position. The cards feature a heterosexual presenting couple and don’t have options for gay or lesbian couples if the positions wouldn’t work for them, which was a small downer.

Day 22: The under-the-mattress restraint set is another addition I loved. It’s the perfect way to restrain your partner. It’s very discreet and it keeps their limbs separate so they can’t undo the clasp. However, it might be a little frustrating to wait until the month is nearly over to have the restraints working if you don’t have something else to attach them to.

Day 23: A vibrating cock ring is hidden behind door #23. It works with the bullet vibrator and is extremely comfortable. I might be in the minority, but having two cock rings in the collection, one that vibrates and is for penetrative sex and the other that does not feel like a bit much. But cock ring lovers will be pleased. I would have preferred some water-based lube, a storage bag, or a sex toy cleaner.

Day 24: The last gift in the final door is the Womanizer Classic 2 (right in the image below), a clitoral suction stimulator that uses Womanizer’s patented Pleasure Air Technology to bring you to orgasm. For those who don’t know what patented Pleasure Air Technology is, it’s pulsing air that can feel like suction or gentle taps. Like most advent calendars, they saved the best toy for last, because this clitoral suction stimulator is nothing short of dazzling.

The mini wand, bullet and Womanizer Classic 2

I had already reviewed the Womanizer Classic 2 before, and I loved this one just as much. It has the Afterglow feature, which reduces the power to low when you tap the power button during orgasm so that you don’t get overstimulated and experience that post-orgasm jolt of pain. Masturbating on Christmas Eve with a clitoral suction stimulator might just be my favorite way to celebrate. You could even pair it with the G-spot vibrator if your partner is willing to lend a hand.

The Womanizer Classic 2 lasted three hours and twenty-four minutes on the lowest setting, which has an excellent battery life, and it took one hour and forty-five minutes to charge. Further, it’s waterproof so you can wash it with warm water and soap and use it in the tub, worry-free!

Cons

Who Should Try It

This is the perfect gift for your partner, especially if you don’t have many items in your sex toy collection. You will have so much to try: anal fun, G spot exploration, clit suction, BDSM, and more. Also, if you’re new to sex toys and can afford the price, this kit is the perfect way to treat yourself and go all in. You’re certain to find a new favorite and learn about different kinds of pleasure thanks to the thoughtful selections in this curated collection.

Who Can Skip It

This toy collection is pricy, so it may not suit people who are on a budget. Further, there’s stuff specifically for vagina and penis havers, so it might not work as well for same-sex couples. Lastly, people who already own a variety of sex toys might feel like there are too many duplicates to make this collection worth the price.

Alternative Sex Toy Advent Calendars

Lovehoney Rose Sex Toy Advent Calendar

The Womanizer collaboration isn’t the only offering from this beloved brand; there are other Lovehoney Advent Calendars to choose from. The Rose Sex Toy Advent Calendar is a good option for those looking for something a little bit easier on the wallet. It’s a twelve-day couples advent calendar, so it’s not quite as over-the-top as the Womanizer option and it costs $119 on sale.

Some of the gifts are the same, including the metal butt plug, anal beads, bullet vibe, G-spot dildo, blindfold, dice, and nipple clamps—but they are red rather than purple. The crown jewel of this collection is the Lovehoney Rose vibrator, which is technically a clit sucker, and it’s a toy as pretty as it is functional. This toy is geared solely towards people with vaginas, so it won’t be as fun for a multi-gendered couple. Design-wise, this Lovehoney advent calendar is a 10. The rose vibrator is so pretty, you’ll want to keep it on display.

Fifty Shades of Grey Pleasure Overload

The Fifty Shades of Grey Advent Calendar has ten days of gifts and costs $119, so it’s another more budget-friendly buy compared with the Lovehoney x Womanizer Advent Calendar. It’s also geared toward those who are interested in expanding the kink factor in their toy collection, and it features a blindfold, nipple clamps, a feather tickler, floggers, restraints, and a bag to store it all in. Surprisingly, it’s not much kinkier than the Lovehoney x Womanizer option, but the Fifty Shades of Grey branding will appeal to fans of the book and make a stunning couples advent calendar.

Ann Summers Twelve Nights of Temptation Advent Calendar

This collection wins the prize for best packaging. It is gorgeous. Though it comes with only twelve gifts, it’s $270, which is pricey. Inside, you can expect to find a rabbit vibe, a wand, a bullet vibe, restraints, and more. This Lovehoney calendar will please those who want a truly luxurious gift-opening experience that’s heavy on luxury sex toys.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How Do I Clean All the Sex Toys?

Each of the sex toys is different, but you may want to get some sex toy cleaner. Keep the instruction manual handy so you don’t accidentally submerge a toy that can’t be underwater. The silicone ones can be cleaned with warm soap and water, and those with motors will need to be wiped clean with sex toy cleaner. Throw the restraints in the laundry on a gentle cycle and allow them to air dry.

Cleaning Sex Toys In The Sink

Here’s a comprehensive cleaning guide for sex toys you can try.

How Do I Store Lovehoney Advent Calendar?

Storing the toys from the Lovehoney 24-day advent calendar will be a bit of an adventure since the kit doesn’t come with storage bags. For the toys, you should grab some small makeup bags and be sure to store them separately. Letting silicone toys live together means that they can damage the body-safe silicone, making it porous and an absolute magnet for bacteria.

Under the Bed Bins and Boxes

Related: How to Store Sex Toys

I would also purchase a couple of bags. A medium-sized one for the handcuffs, ankle cuffs, and under-the-mattress restraints. Then, I’d get a bag for the massage stuff. You could toss the scented candle, massage oil, and star-shaped massage aid in that one. Then, get separate, small makeup bags for the Womanizer Classic 2, cock ring, dildo, mini wand and G-spot vibrator. The penis toys can be stored together, but only for short-term use. The nipple clamps and metal butt plug can share a bag, as long as they’re both clean, of course. The dice and the cards can go with your board games—as long as you don’t have any kids or nosy guests coming over shortly.

Is the Packaging Discreet?

Yes, the packaging is discreet. It arrives in a plain box from “Wow Tech,” and most people won’t know that that’s a sex toy company. Your gift recipient certainly won’t have a clue what their present is, even if they look at the mailing label.
