6. Account for the thickness of the foam before making any cuts. Trace around the inside of the hose, subtract the foam’s thickness, and use a jigsaw to cut out the chair’s sides.
7. Build a 2″x4″ frame for the bottom and attach the sides to it. Add support pieces between the sides using 1″x2″ pine and scrap plywood.
8. Cut a piece of hardboard to the correct width and tack it onto the supports, following the contours of the top.
9. Apply foam to the chair. Layer and glue together different types of foam to achieve the desired firmness. Consider using 1″ layers of foam for easier application.
10. Attach Dacron batting to the foam, providing a plusher look and concealing any rough edges or seams. Whipstitch the Dacron where the top and sides meet for added durability.
11. Create a cover for the chair using fabric like duck cotton. Cut the fabric pieces slightly oversized with a 1/2″ seam allowance, pin them in place, and sew them together using a sewing machine.
